Batista is no longer the WWE Champion. What's in store for him?

D-Man

Gone but never forgotten.
Last night, Batista dropped the WWE title to John Cena. Just as most of us suspected, he was only a transitional champion to create a high-profile match at Wrestlemania. His 35-day reign isn't going to be considered anything but transitional.

In the short time that he was champion, I feel the WWE did a great job of furthering his character transition into a top heel. He's cut MUCH better promos than the ones he used to cut as a babyface, he's more believable, and his characteristics just seem to fit him much better as a heel.

I'm not necessarily sure that he's going to continue this program with John Cena. However, nothing is etched in stone in pro-wrestling... especially in the WWE.

Therefore, what do you think will happen with Batista now that he's no longer the WWE Champion?

I feel that Batista has improved leaps and bounds during his title reign. As D-Man mentioned, his promos are easily more natural. In my opinion, he has even put on better matches as I feel he was born for a monster heel role. Somehow he just looks more natural in this role. (Maybe it helps that I picture him exactly as his character in real life.) But Batista in all seriousness will probably continue his feud with John Cena, seeing as how he has a rematch clause. I thought that he would go straight into feuding with Edge after 'Mania, but that doesn't look like is it going to happen.

I think that the Extreme Rules PPV is going to be a great reason to continue this as well as the Y2J/Edge feuds.

As mentioned, Batista has gotten SO much better in ring and in promos than when he was face. Hes slimmed down a tad in weight and he seems to not blow up in the ring due to his asthma as much as he used to. His match with Cena last night was great and showed how fast he could be. When he did that sick DDT on Cena, I was shocked at his speed.

I think that he could go pretty far with this new approach. Possibly feud with a Face triple H, or Orton. This is a good time for Batista to make his mark as a heel.

Batista i heard was going to take time off after WrestleMania. I'm not sure but that's what I heard. If he does I can see him coming back at Summerslam and destroying John Cena after his match. If he doesn't take time off I think he'll probably be either drafted to SmackDown or "injured" in the 2 months.

This angle has turned him into a pretty decent heel. Before this storyline with Cena, I had no use for Batista whatsoever. But now, he's pretty entertaining.

I think they could do a lot of things with Batista at this point. They could easily continue the feud with Cena, and maybe even bring him over to Raw with the draft. I could see him having a feud with Orton as well. If they really want Orton to get over as a face-tweener, what better opponent right now than Batista.

But that' just details. I think the biggest thing coming out of this turn is the fact that Batista works much, much better as a heel. He will give instant credibility to any babyface he feuds with after Wrestlemania. I'm not sure who it's going to be, but at this point it really doesn't matter who it is.

I think an Orton/Batista feud is the next logical step for both these guys. There was a heavy hint of it during the last episode of Raw and it's obvious that these 2 guys have unfinished business, but now the roles will be reversed (Orton as a face, Batista as a heel). Besides, I believe the Cena/Batista feud should be brought to a close, at least for the time being.

Batista has impressed me greatly as a heel. He bored me to tears as a face, but he has become one of the best heels in the company of recent years. He can now be used effectively to put up and coming stars over and has proven himself worthy of carrying a long feud.

I think for the next month or so he's going after Cena but he will eventually move onto a feud with Orton over the summer. I think Orton is a better opponent for Batista than anybody at the moment because of their history together and of course recent developments.

As most people have said I think that he will feud with Cena until or just after Extreme Rules.Batista will lose and then head for Orton. This will end up with a few PPV encounters and finishing at Summerslam.Batista gets the final win to put him back into the title seen for Night of Champions.Cause Batista won't win at ER cause Cena is "the face of the company".Batista just needs a solid feud and not to lose his heelness with the fans.Cause then he will just go straight down hill.

A Batista Orton feud again...but the sides are swithed...means this could be really could. Hell if WWE wanted to, Rhodes and DiBiase could interfere, but Legacy needs to stay away for a while. Batista's persona is just so much more believable and Orton as a tweener is a lot of fun to watch. The extreme rules ppv might be a fatal 4 way with Cena, Batista, Orton and Swagger after Raw, but and Orton/Batista feud now would be great to see.

I think DMan has hit the nail on the head with this thread. A heel Batista seems to be more entertaining than the face Batista. Somehow I think it taps into his inner-Diva. They say actors/entertainers draw best from experience. But with regards to the rumors that RKO has drastically improved his attitude, it could also show why he's showing improvement in the face turn this time, than the first time with his WHC belt back in 04 during the run with Evolution. I think this heel Batista comes at a time where he could very well vibe into any storyline, and the fact that you have quite a few up and comers lately, Swagger, McIntyre, Kofi, this would be the perfect "PROVING" ground for any possible newcomer wrestler to sink their teeth into REAL main event status. In a way, this was kinda how Batista got his mark, by taking out Goldberg, maybe turn the tables and have Batista be someone that some newcomer could take out at all costs...
