Backing up things on an iPod

So, I'll probably need to get a new iPod soon and I want to back up all the songs I have on my current one. Unfortunately, all the programs I find that do that only do a certain amount of songs. Is there a free program that will back up everything?

ummm, doesn't iTunes back up everything? At least I think it does, since when I plug my iPod (Touch) into the computer, iTunes gives me the option to back up my device. Plus I know you can just take all the songs and manually move them from the iPod to the harddrive.

It only shares songs you downloaded from iTunes. If you haven't bought all your songs from there (which I hope you haven't), then you'll need to put the files of the songs onto some kind of storage device (external hard drive, flash drive, etc.) that way you can put the files onto the new computer.

ok here's a better question. Don't you already have the songs on your iPod on your computer already, or do you delete from from your computer once they are on your iPod? Or do you not get your MP3 files from your Computer?

And my iPod has an option to backup your device. I don't know if it will backup everything, but I'm finding out now.

EDIT: apparently on my iPod (Touch) the backup only does apps, data, etc. Music would have to be synced.

Still, don't you already have the music on the computer?

and check this list out.

one of those might work for you

No, I don't have all the music on the computer. I've been through several computers during this iPod's lifetime and I've possibly just gone through one more (though luckily a lot of music is on my portable hard drive).

Thanks for the link. I'll have to look into them.
