Once again, hate that it's necessary to actually do this, but the topics discussed here have one thing in common. It's about TNA pushing the envelope and if us TNA fans are buying it. Using examples of why we are buying or not buying it would be a great post. Keep idle chit chat out of non-spam sections and stick the the general subject of TNA trying to bring some Attitude to their programming. Gotta love the title lol

So recently TNA has been crossing the line (pun intended) and going to, and over the edge on what they can and cannot show on television. Desmond Wolfe breaks a bottle over the ring post and stabs Abyss in the arm, Abyss takes the....services of Chelsea for a month and makes some very suggestive remarks about owning her, and then there's MISSSSTTEEERRRRRRRR Ande...Asshole. Apparently asshole has recently been allowed by the FCC because I've heard it on a few shows in the past couple weeks. But the week that Anderson first used the word (promo with Angle) it was bleeped. So yeah, TNA had a field day this thursday with the new word, but you have to admit the Anderson/Hardy promo was the single fucking funniest thing since the Shockmaster. A-SS-HO-LE SAY IT WITH ME! :lmao:

What are your opinions on this recent development in TNA?

Cheap tactic?

What people want in a wrestling show to combat WWEPG?

Cheap tactic that is what people want in a wrestling show?

By the way, now that Hardy and Anderson are friends, will we be called Assholes of the Night?

Last night's Anderson promo quickly and successfully made me interested in his use of the words "Ass Hole". About 3 minutes later, I was sick and tired of it. He sure took a great idea and kicked the living piss out of it.

At first, it was a funny concept. Anderson even called HIMSELF and ass hole. And it looked like it was catching on. But then, in his second promo using that new gimmick, he just completely blew it out of proportion in the same way that 90210 abused the word "bitch" when it was first allowed on network television. Anderson said it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and again until I wanted to reach through the television and wring his neck. Instead, I just changed the channel. Way to go, Anderson.

Once again, TNA stumbled upon something good and they ruined it in one fell swoop. Just another example of their desperation.

By the way, was anyone else very surprised and satisfied with the new Mister Anderson? I was expecting the face turn, but I didn't expect him to be this good. Anderson is by far the best on the mic, and him being a funny asshole instead of just an asshole is the single greatest thing I've seen

It's part of Anderson's repertoire, it's what makes him an asshole. He takes things too far. At least he did funny voices and danced around too lol. Of course I'm also a huge Monty Python fan, so this kind of humour is my style

I think it's great... They really do need to push the adult stuff as far as they can...

I wouldn't call it cheap tatics necessarily... I mean, they can do it and WWE can't... It's not their fault WWE is PG...

Anderson's Assholes is a great phrase that fits him perfectly... It's not like they are doing stupid sleazy stuff for no reason...

I mean when WWE was doing cheap tatics they had Bossman drag the casket of Big Show's father behind his car and the whole Mark Henry Mae Young hand thing...

What I mean is... As long as the edgy stuff makes sense, then the more the better... Take full advantage of WWE being kid friendly and push the product more towards adults...

Well when Anderson says asshole every sentence and dances around and sings the word, it's a cheap tactic lol. But it's a good thing. It's like when Eddie used to cheat and be cheered. It was dirty, underhanded, and bad but we fucking LOVED it

For all that is right with the world... Wolfe needs to steal her back and ditch this whole angle...

It wouldn't be that hard... He's having a match, have Wolfe run out and take her back... That simple...

There is nothing good that can come from a face 'owning' a heel manager... I mean if she fell for him, then we'd be stuck with the love struck monster again... That was crap... Unless Abyss does something so vile to her that everyone turns on him...?

They need to get this angle over with and move on to Abyss turning on Hogan so we can have our destructive monster heel back...

At first, I thought the whole Asshole thing was kinda funny but the fun is wearing off and it's becoming annoying now. If Anderson just pulled the word out and used it every so often instead of a dozen times per promo, it would have much more meaning and impact. When Austin flipped McMahon the bird, he didn't do it every 5 seconds or even during every confrontation. He saved it and when he used it, it came across as "special" and "edgy". However, Anderson saying asshole a dozen times per promo has it coming across as little more than a cheap stunt instead of an edgy catchphrase.

Is it me or do you find it funny that TNA is attempting to be like the WWE was a few years ago? I mean the Attitude Era was (in my opinion) the crowning jewel of the WWE. Now little ol' TNA wants to be like the big boys. too funny. Hell when Eric Bischoff is saying that it is time to cut ties, well what does that tell ya?

The only people that shoudl be surprized about Andersons comments are people who are new to watching wrestling, otherwise for everyone else it is just sad.

I don't know man. He put on a nice show with the mic. But, and this is just speaking for me, I've been swearing for a looooooooong time now. Just because someone says "asshole" on TV 3000x in a row, it's not going to make me sit up and be interested in such a "shocking" word being thrown around on television.

His match against AJ made me sit up and be interested. Anderson is not doing anything unexpected. I know he'll come out, shit-talk, point, and throw a punch. He's not surprising. He is the exact same except now he "likes" the fans instead of "hates" the fans. Nothing else has changed in his character.

I know asshole is not a bad word. It's in the dictionary.

On Comedy Central shows can say "shit" after 9pm and the f-bomb and mf-bomb can be dropped after 11pm or 12am.

But what did shock me was not seeing Hogan or Bischoff. Shocked the shit right outta me.

You wanted TNA to be different from WWE ( current WWE ) and they're doing it.

IMO, this iMPACT was absolutely amazing. I was so entertained by just about everything.

1. Stop bitching about the asshole word being over-used. Learn to live with it. It's his gimmick, it's his new nick-name, it's his moniker. If you're tired of "asshole" I don't know what you wanted to do when The Rock himself would repeat the same shit night in and night out. So sit back, and enjoy the artist called Mr.Anderson.

2. What shocked me was Hogan talking about "heels" and "babyfaces". I don't know if anyone else noticed it. When he said the words I was like... wait a minute, WHAT? I loved it.

3. Puppet the psycho dwarf is the most entertaining thing I've seen in a while. I was kind of mad that there was another midget on a wrestling show, but that guy's no Horny, he's better. Fucker cracked me up, so funny.

I think I am absolutely inlove with this new direction, if it's even a direction. I don't know, it seemed so laid back, so negligent and purely entertaining. They didn't give a shit about anything, only about us having a great time, watching some quality TV mixed up with some good wrestling.

I don't know what you guys think, there's always someone that shits on WHATEVER TNA or WWE does, but dammit that show was awesome!

At first the whole "asshole" thing was working very well. It caught on fast. But then he killed it. This was something that could've possibly worked like a "Austin 3:16" sort of thing. It took Austin 2 years to run it dry. It only took Anderson 5 minutes. Hope he can tone it down in the coming weeks.

The Desmond/Abyss glass thing was unnecessary. How is it that Judas Mesias cuts his arm and slams him through barbed wire and Abyss is perfectly fine the next week. Here he gets cut by Desmond and apparently it hurts him. Yeah, now.

I actually liked the Beautiful People/Puppet segment. It was amusing, while keeping the girls from looking ridiculous. Much better than seeing Hornswoggle for sure.

The segments were OK on iMPACT!. But they really need to tone down the whole "Asshole" thing.

I was pretty amused by the whole direction of Anderson's character last night. It looks to me like TNA really wants to push his character to the moon right now. I think people need to give Anderson's "asshole" gimmick a couple weeks to see how it goes. He reminded me of a little kid last night who discovers something new and can't stop repeating it over and over again. TNA might even want to market the Anderson's Assholes gimmick even further to T-shirts. Wouldn't that be a sight for a little kid sitting somewhere dressed up in an Anderson t-shirt next to a kid wearing a Cena shirt? Talk about culture clash.

But while I tend to be lenient towards TNA in terms of Anderson, I have to say I am bored to death with the Abyss/Chelsea storyline. Abyss hasn't really meant much to me in recent weeks. Thankfully, they stopped pushing him towards the main event as hard as they were a few months ago, but I don't see the novelty in Abyss holding Chelsea against her will. Brian Pillman and Marlena... this is not. The only good thing that's come out of this is Desmond Wolfe actually got a pinfall victory last night (shock) and has gotten more TV time. Using the broken glass on Abyss was a nice touch as it was meant to be nasty and allowed Wolfe to get in some offense on Abyss. I'm just waiting for TNA to pull the plug on the Abyssamania gimmick and to have Abyss become the heel weapon of destruction again. It's been a few years in the making. Right now, Abyss is to Hulk Hogan as Dave Sullivan was to Kevin Sullivan.

Lol I agree. I definitely miss the attitude in Wwe but Tna last night was just goofy. I don't recall them pushing the adult themes so hard in recent weeks. Seems like creative is really latching onto this as a key way to differentiate themselves from Wwe. I was also caught off guard by Hogan referencing heels and babyfaces in his discussion with Anderson backstage as if they're trying to be edgy by admitting what the product really is. Trying to cater to the smarks and lift the veil of kayfabe isn't really something for a promotion trying to be on Tv and grow their popularity to do. Its a relatively small portion of the audience who wants to know what really goes on backstage. Time will tell if any of these tactics work but just because your crowd is chanting a-s-s-h-o-l-e doesn't mean you're recreating what made the attitude era fun. Catering to the adult audience is a good move against PG Wwe but don't overdo it like a 12 year old learning a fun new swear word.

I loved Andersons new character. I really enjoyed the match he had against Styles. Styles picking up a win the way Anderson used to. I loved how Anderson got the fans involved after the match. It was good fun to see Anderson having a good time out there. That is one of the things WWE is missing currently. During the attitude era, the WWE got the fans involved a lot. Now they are sorta lulled off to sleep because of boring promos and childish antics. I am liking how TNA is handling this whole Anderson situation. I do agree though... do not overkill it.

I love how people think this is a cheap tactic because if I remember correctly South Park was the first show on basic cable to say shit. Really they are just going the route WWF did during the attitude era to combat against WCW. WCW had high flyers and action packed wrestling, and WWF had drama, anarchy, and women in skimpy clothing. Is it because its been done before were complaining?

Anderson I think is one of the best promo guys of this decade, he's just under where the Rock was in this stage of his career (on Television). The thing that is great is they don't script him, they just give him points and go with it.

if its been done before then why call it something its not, if TNA was on Monday nights on a live show and told the results on a UK taped Raw then yeah a cheap tactic although its been shown it works. But people want to see something not seen in wrestling and right now reality is the it thing, you have some semi outlandish characters , yet maintain a Reality show mentality but still have quality matches on your live events.

but thats my opinion anyways.
