Scene opens inside a dimly lit room. Leon Kensworth sits with his one leg crossed horizontally over his other leg, writing notes down on a pad of paper resting on his lap. Leon looks up at the camera and uncrosses his legs before speaking.
Kensworth: Good evening WZCW fans and welcome to this special exclusive interview. My guest right now is somebody who has done just about everything there is to do in WZCW. This man needs no introduction when he steps into a room, and very recently he has decided to continue to grace us with his presence by signing a new short term deal. Ladies and gentleman, "Showtime" David Cougar.
The camera cuts to Showtime sitting across from Leon in an identical chair. He nods his head towards Leon and smiles as he sits back and relaxes in his seat.
Showtime: Thank you for having me Leon.
Kensworth: Thank you Show for giving us the time to speak to you. Now, before we run out of time because I know your very busy, I'm going to jump right into the question everybody's been asking. What made you decide to return to WZCW, especially after all the negative comments you've made about the company?
Showtime: Well... it's kind of funny actually. You know the saying "You don't know what you got till it's gone." That's kind of what happened. It wasn't until I stepped into the ring at Unscripted that I realized how much I missed competing. You know, Hollywood takes up a lot of my time, but I'm the type of guy that always likes to be busy doing stuff. The fortunate thing about working in Hollywood is that's where I also happen to live, so once my day is over I'm able to head back home and spend some time with my family. Thats something I wasn't able to do full time on the road with WZCW. With this contract I am obligated to only perform on TV and I am thus able to spend time at home and continue to build upon my portfolio of work outside of wrestling.
I don't take back any of the comments that I've made about WZCW. I'm not trying to bring anyone down by saying those things, I'm just being critical about a once great organization because I want to see it thrive again. Since I stepped away from the ring last year the quality of the talent in the locker room has gone way down. The shows aren't as crisp and smooth as the they used to be, everything seems to be changing from one direction to the next. There is still so much that I can give back to the company and not just to the fans, but to the wrestlers in the back. Those guys are looking for a locker room leader and I want to provide them with that opportunity. Those wrestlers that are being unfairly held back, I want them to be able to reach the spotlight that shines around me.
Kensworth: So this return has nothing to do at all with your loss against WZCW legend Titus at Unscripted, is that correct?
Showtime can be seen chuckling a bit as he wipes his forehead.
Showtime: I suppose I would be lying a bit if I said my return had nothing to do with losing to Titus at Unscripted. That match was a bit of a wake up call for me. I spent so many weeks trying to bring Titus down that when we finally stepped inside the ring I was unprepared for the encounter. I'm not trying to say that as a knock against Titus or an excuse why I was unable to get the job done. Titus deserves all the credit in the world for reaching down deep and being able find something to compete against me, but that doesn't get him off the hook for his years of below average performances, or the fact that he continues to take up spots on the card that should go to younger, better talents in the locker room. I gave Titus his moment in the sun at Unscripted; now it would be best for him and everybody in WZCW if he just steps aside and leaves, before he winds up getting seriously injured. Things like that happen when you get old, don't you know Leon.
Kensworth: My bones crack a little bit more with each year, I am amazed at how long some people seem to last here in WZCW, Titus clearly being one that seems to defy the laws of old age. Now your match against him at Unscripted did not end without some controversy. Following the match we saw the return of Michael Winters coming to your aid, as well we saw John Constantine make his presence felt, coming out to save his opponent from two weeks prior. My question is, what sort of connection do you have with these two, and were you aware before hand that they would both interfere following your match?
Showtime: I had nothing to do with either of them appearing at ringside that night.
Showtime stares back at Leon, his face not giving away anything more as to what he may know. Showtime takes a sip of water as Leon pauses, trying to go about this in a different way.
Kensworth: I find that a little hard to believe Showtime.
Showtime: Believe what you will, I personally had nothing to do with what happened after my match with Titus.
Kensworth: Very well then, what is your take on Michael Winters? Is he someone that you want to help bring into the spotlight?
Showtime: Winters is a very unique talent that could go quite far in WZCW with the right guidance and opportunities. It was only a few years ago that he held the Elite X Title and successfully defended it at Kingdom Come. He beat Barbosa in their first official match in WZCW. As somebody who has taken a few elbows to the head from that monster, I can tell you that that is no easy feat. Even though Winters defeated him, it was Barbosa who would go on to receive the big push. It wasnt just Barbosa who got the special treatment. From his contract class it was Ferbian who got the first title opportunities, it was Sam Smith who was signed to a long term deal. The company did not get behind Winters and as a result they lost and extremely gifted wrestler. When I look at Winters, I see someone who has all the tools to succeed. All he needs is the right opportunities to make the next step and I can help make that happen.
Kensworth: There is a rumor going around that you were part responsible for the upcoming tag team match on Meltdown between Cerberus and Winters and Constantine. Do you have anything to comment on that.
Showtime: Rumors and nothing more. Constantine was unprovoked when he assaulted myself and Winters. Im in the dark as much as you regarding that match.
Kensworth: I somehow find that a little unlikely. Well what the piece of paper Constantine tore up on Unscripted. One would assume it was a message sent by you.
Showtime: That couldve been anything. Divorce papers are very common in the wrestling world. For all we know it couldve a bad contract offered to him by management. Lord knows they probably had to clear some money to get me resigned. Constantine couldve heard the rumors and was upset about what he was offered.
Kensworth: But its so similar to All or Nothing 2010.
Showtime: Leon, you ever hear a song that you didnt like at first, but soon grew to love.
Kensworth: One time I get caught singing Wrecking Ball and word spreads out.
Showtime: Exactly, and the same can be said for negotiations. You receive an offer and you dont like it at first and wait until you get a better offer. Me and Constantine have not been talking, but we have been listening and perhaps we dont agree with what each other has been saying. We got a lot of history between the two of us, at odds and teaming up. Right now we appear to be against each other.
Kensworth: Speaking of history, you certainly have some with your opponent this week on Ascension, Saboteur. During the roulette rounds he, along with Celeste Crimson, faced you in triple threat match for the WZCW Title, which you narrowly escaped with victory in. How do you feel your chances are against Saboteur after he almost won the WZCW Title again inside Hell in a Cell at Unscripted?
Showtime: My chances after he endured that bloodbath? Id say they are pretty good Leon, but lets forgot for a moment that Saboteurs bones are broken and his spirits are crushed. Lets imagine a perfectly healthy, slightly off key, kind of mentally crazy Saboteur facing me. Okay, Id say that they are pretty good too.
Kensworth: Saboteur has picked up a number of high profile wins and could be riding some momentum from coming so close to victory last week.
Showtime: Leon, Saboteur is an exceptional talent in his own right. He definitely has a place in the wrestling world, but he is not an A wrestler. He is a fail. Hes a freak and weirdo. A gimmick to get a pop from the crowd and bring some humour on the show. Saboteur has no place at the top of a wrestling card. His place is at the bottom wrestling in a tag team match with a bearded lady and a bear. Hes gotten a few wins here and there, but that goes to show how low the talent has sunk here in WZCW. Against me he failed to get the victory, and on Ascension he will lose again to me.
Leon scribbles down on his paper and checks his watch.
Kensworth: Anything else youd like to say before we wrap this up.
Showtime: Yes, I would just like to personally wish my friend Titus good luck in his match against Matt Tastic. Fact is Tastic has never beaten Titus. Baez, who later became Tastic, defeated Red Mask, the costume wearing Titus, and then in their rematch Titus defeated Baez. Another exceptional talent that Titus has held back. Titus is going to need some luck, because if I were Tastic Id be wondering where my title match was and looking straight at Titus with blood in my eyes. The clock is ticking on your career Titus. The elite are coming.
Showtime stands up. Him and Leon shake hands as the scene ends.
