The past paves the way for the future. Our experiences influence our future desires. Whether it's to extinguish old griefs and regrets or to fulfill long forgotten dreams, one cannot see the future without first looking into the past.

=========================================================================

It's a peculiar setting. Following Unscripted, Matt Tastic was ordered by his doctor to stay with someone else to recover from potential damage. Not having anyone to trust due to his nature, Matt went to the one and only person that would willingly help him despite his attitude.

Living within a remote area, up in the mountains and then down a very large crevice. A small wooden house, surrounded by incredibly tall trees. It's atmosphere is completed by the sounds of all sorts of animals. Chickens, horses, sheep, cats, dogs, all sorts of wildlife fill the farm Matt is staying in. The farm of his grandfather. Grampa Tastic.

Matt rests his head by two mango trees. Swinging side to side on a hamock between the 2 of the many trees in the area. Chickens roam pecking and clucking. The dog barks at everything and gnaws away at it's own feces. The fucker lacks manners. Sheeps call out from the distance. Despite all the apparent distress, Matt just rocks around. Arms behind his head and his head tucked on his chest. Relaxed.

Fallout is a smart man.

The normally neurotic superstar speaks without moving an inch from his relaxed pose as the chaos of farm life continues to surround him.

He went after my injured back. Disabling me from acting quickly and eventually winning. As maddening as it is to say it, the fucker was actually the better man.

The hammock stops suddenly as Matt admitted the unlikely truth. As if someone hit a mute button, all the noise goes out. Not a peep. And Matt speaks.

But I am still superior in the end.

Everything returns to a panic. The hamock swings and the animals continue their movement.

Fallout may have won. But as time marches on, as the days keep going by, people come and go. We celebrate their careers with such reverence and ignore their inabilities to fully commit to the cause of pro wrestling the way I do. But that doesn't matter. Because in the end, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Barbosa, Drake Cahallan, Steven Kurtesy, Grizzly Bob, the names pile on. More alleged greats that I just simply outlast.

Matt's dog stops consuming it's disgusting meal and starts to bark at something. The chickens run off in panic as the dog gets up and takes a defensive position. It charges and leaps onto a prairie not too distant from the trees Matt relaxes by.

I was too impatient the last few months and my anxiety got the better of me. I forgot that about myself. But now, I just sit back and wait. Because seeing all these people reminded me of who I am. The face of WZCW? No. That's such a stupid term. I'm the heart. I pump the blood within the company. I clean the oxygen it inhales. I give life from within. And that's a fact.

The dog comes back from the prairie. It carries something in it's mouth. Something green, long and scaley.

Despite all the seeming setbacks, I know my day will come. Sooner or later. Every dog has his day. I just have to wait for it.

The dog sits by Matt Tastic with the dead animal. A big lizard from what it seems. And begins to gnaw on the remains. After a few bites though, something else catches his attention and once again, the dog begins to bark. A voice is heard from the distance but not clearly enough. It's enough to catch Matt's attention as he gets up to meet whoever it is.

What the hell is this place?

The voice is heard echoing from the distance. None other than Becky Serra running down a steep hill to meet the former Elite X and Mayhem champ.

Seriously, where am I? The GPS had no clue where it was and I drove for hours. This is a very nice island... but just.... Hi Matt!

Matt looks surprised to see Becky there. Information of his childhood home was never disclosed. But yet, here she is. WZCW will send their reporters anywhere no matter what.

What're you doing here, Stacey?

It's Becky.

Whatever. Why are you here?

I was sent to look for you.

Why? I was sent home on doctors orders.

Yes. But you haven't talked to anyone since then, we wanted to make sure you're aware of your match this week.

I'm fully aware of everything. I know who I'm facing, I know what he won over the weekend and I know for a fact he can't beat me.

Who are you talking about?

Titus, you dumb broad? What the hell? Now do me a favor and get ou--

Can you tell me your thoughts?

Matt turns to the side dumbfounded. He want's peace and quiet but finds an interview instead. My thoughts? I feel like slapping you right now, how's that for a thought? I'm here trying to rest and you show up a week before to kill my peace with this pointless stupidity.

I'm just doing my job.

I'm just trying to have some personal space. You want my thoughts on Titus? Fine, he's your good friend, right?

Yeah.

You follow his adventures in Keystone, right?

Yeah.

Nice. See, years ago him and I fought. I beat him the first time and the second time he won my contract. He released me. I saw it as this big kindness. “WOW! How forgiving! What a hero.” I gave him my mask in honor.

Yeah.

Now, after these years, I see what a fucking putz I was to do that. I started acting like the miserable moron. Petting kids like dogs. Hugging women like cats. Sucking up to everyone. And for freakin' what? I spent years in this dry spell doing a lot of nothing. Now look at him. He's the same issue. He's been doing a whole lot of high profile nothing. He's no hero, Becky. He's a dog chasing his own tail. Just like this moron, gnawing on all the shit he finds.

Matt points to his dog who drops his prey. Despite the criticism, it just seems joyous and uncaring as Becky looks on grossed out.

Tell me if this doesn't sound familiar. He failed to win the Eurasian title. He failed to win the Mayhem title. He had a nothing victory on PPV. I've seen this situation before, Becky. I know what's next. More losing. It won't stop until he lets go and starts to focus on himself. He's just gonna keep going to a dry well in the meantime.

You say that, but at the same time he just won an Oscar.

For what?

Best animated movie. At least I think. The details are still murky.

How the hell can the details be murky, it did air on national TV, right? So what the hell?

I-I don't know.

First off, he didn't win an Oscar. If what you say is true and it was Best Animate Movie, guess what. The movie won it. Not him. But that's like him. To just drag the spotlight to himself. He's the most glorified and celebrated loser WZCW has after all.

But he beat Showtime at Unscripted. How could you--

As Becky lashes back at Matt's discerning of Titus, an odd sight catches them. The animals suddenly enter a state of panic. The chickens run around with no direction. The dog barks in different directions. The sheep act restless in their stables as do the horses. Birds fly off trees and the wind blows intensely. Matt and Becky stop to look on as Matt goes from his usual self to a stoic face.

No way.....

What's going on?

Little lady, are you aware that animals can sense trouble from afar? Before it happens.

A voice from the distance appears. An old man walks toward the duo as the dog calms down. Matt turns to him as does Becky, but she's confused by who it is.

And you are?

That's my grandfather. Grampa Tastic. He's a former wrestling manager for local promotions.

Yes. Thank you for the introduction. The animals are restless, Matt. And I believe you know why that is.

I don't care about this issue, Grampa. I already told you what I care about.

What is it?

You'll see soon enough. I saw something in Unscripted that just rubbed me off the wrong way.

Matt, this coming storm. You have to calm it.

You do realize you are worried about a wrestling promotion as if it were gonna be a catastrophe, right? Spare me, Grampa. As long as this issue doesn't interfere with my plans, I'm not dirtying my hands with it. And that's the end of this conversation.

I don't get it. What issue is it?

I don't know, kid. But from what it seems, WZCW isn't ready for it. But like I said, Titus is my concern right now. He's all hyped over his Oscar win. He better remember that where I come from, everything is real. There's no CGI here. There's no voice acting here. There's only life and death here.

The wind blows harder, distracting him once again as Becky looks on.

Maybe he should be the one worried about the storm and not me.
