Are we missing it?

Pre-Show Stalwart
Last night, I pulled out disc 3 of the Ladder Match collection and watched Edge defeat Matt Hardy, Ric Flair but lose to John Cena. The match with Cena was one I enjoy throroughly. It is the first match that made me think, "maybe Cena isn't as bad as I want to believe."

I have absolutely loved this rivalry. It is the one match that I have any concern at Backlash for. It is what pro-wrestling was supposed to be; two of the top guys giving everything they have to be THE top guy. (I would still like to know whose idea it was to include Big Show and have them play out that ridiculous angle for WrestleMania.) After their TLC at Toronto (great crowd), they showed it didn't matter who was heel and who was face. These two guys work well together and have some good stuff to show.

So my question is, what are rivalries that you enjoy/have enjoyed? I know some of the ones that will be mentioned. But please, explain what it was that you loved. It doesn't have to be your favorite as some of you might want to mention one that isn't talked about a lot.

If this is one that has been done, I apologize.

(Sorry about the bad title. I started to do one thread and ended up with another altogether but forgot to change the title.)

well for me it would have to be Undertaker and Batista. these two had a hell of a year in 2007. First they stole WM23 with the best match that should have been the main event. then at Backlash they fought in a last man standing to a draw when the stage fell on them greatest ending to a wwe. paperview in recent memory. then they had a hell in a cell at Survivor series. kicked major ass and marked the return of Edge as well. then in 08 at No way out they had a relly good Elimination chamber match. Talk about a year long good feud with no bad matches in it. what i liked was how well these two worked together in diffrent varieites of enviroments. they threw it all out to us fans and gave us a great feud to remmember.

My favorite rivalry, which reading through both autobiographies would have to be Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. they started out putting each other over, but turned into a full-on hate rivalry! im sure there have been other rivalries over time, but going back to the aforementioned ladder match dvd, shawn vs. bret for the "real" ic title (in quotes cuz the belt meant something then) and also the first ever ladder match in WWF history... that rivalry sparked a great rivalry honestly, IMO finishing at Wrestlemania XII...

there are soem good rivalries now like HH vs. Randy Orton or MAYBE, just maybe Chris Jericho against the "Legends"

what thoughts we have on this?

for me my favortie rivarly would have be The Rock and Mankind 98'-99'. when this rivalry started it was when i first getting into wrestling and had my favorite Wrestler of all The Rock. this would began at survivor series 98' and was put to a hault the Raw after St. Valentines Day Massacre to focus on Wrestlemania as The Rock begun to focus on Stone Cold Steve Austin and Manking with the Big Show. in that period these two had some great matches, that included the I Quit Match, Last Man Standing Match, The Empty Arena Match and who can forget the Raw where Mick Foley won his first ever World Championship and a shift in the MNW. this rivarly would also give The Rock's first of many World Championships

Red Rooster vs. Bobby Heenan was one of the best feuds in wrestling history. Remember it all started when the Rooster was a member of the Heenan family who needed The Brain's knowledge and managerial excellence to achieve victories. However things fell apart which lead to what could have been an epic match at WrestleMania V but they made it a squash. However, the Rooster/Heenan feud heated up as The Brooklyn Brawler saved his manager from a beatdown. Oh how I smile thinking back to the good ol' days of Red Rooster vs. Brooklyn Brawler matches.

My favorite rivalries were probably Triple H vs. The Rock......they basically made each others careers and although they feuded on and off, they always pretty much stayed on the same level as each other. But my all time favorite rivalry is definately Mankind vs. The Undertaker. Great matches every time these 2 stepped in the ring.

I have a few, first off Shawn Micheal's vs Chris Jericho there 08 rivalry was just epic. From Jericho throwing HBK the flat screen tv. Then Shawn coasting Jericho the ic title then having y2j, to Jericho punching Shawn's wife in the face, to their ladder match at No Mercy. Another one is Ric flair vs vader before starrcade 1993 there was just amazing it is one of first memories of wcw I remember being worried that flair was going to get hurt for real. But my favorite is Undertaker vs Shawn Micheals from 1997 in till now every match they have had agianst each other has been a classic.

watching austin and the rock go at it back in the day was awesome. they did things in that feud that you may never see again. fuckin pg rating bullshit! watching jericho stop himself from saying "son of a bitch" or taker calling big show a "mother fucker" at the rumble really made me ache. rock and austin though. that feud stands out in my little head more than anything. just the crap austin was allowed to pull during his time, haha, wow.

I have a bunch...Shawn and Bret, Shawn and Jericho 08, Hardy's vs Edge and Christian vs Dudleys was epic, Rock and Stone Cold, Taker and Mankind, Mr. Perfect and Bret, Taker and Orton a few yrs ago was great too. Its hard to pick one rivalry that outshines all the others but if I had to I would go with something a little more old school and pick Randy Savage vs Ric Flair! I loved that Rivalry...Flair doctored some photos of Miss Elizabeth to look like they were together and Savage, who was super protective of Liz, went nuts. They had a great fued for a few months culminating at WM. I'm a little biased to Savage cuz to me he was my favorite wrestler ever and one of the top 5 all time for sure.

There were other honorable mentions too...Sting and Hogan, Goldberg and Nash, Warrior and Rick Rude, and Warrior and Jake The Snake Roberts were some that I have fond memories and nostagia for. I'll quit rambling cuz I could go on forever. Good post though, it got me walking down memory lane a bit. Overall fueds are just not as good cuz they dont last as long anymore. If guys have good chemistry they should fued for a few months at least...like Shawn and Jericho did last year.
