Dowdsy McDowds
Sally was here
The Billboard top 200.
Often referred to in regards to the success of a band/artist's album. But what of the single charts?
The UK public has a history of growing up with listening to the top 40 singles of the week on a Sunday evening and even taping (with cassettes for the young pups) the singles to save money buying them.
On two occasions I remember there being a massive battle for who would be number 1 - Blur (country house) V Oasis (don't look back in anger) in the battle for who would win the Brit Pop crown. The second was Spiller (groovejet) V Dane Bowers and Posh Spice (out of my mind) for the summer anthem of 99 or 00.
Has America ever had a similar experience to the UKs battle for number 1? Do other people have memories about the UK top 40?
Let the nostalgia fly!
