Are CM Punk & Daniel Bryan setting the bar?

For the last few weeks we've seen WWE superstars CM Punk and Daniel Bryan team-up to take down the Wyatt family. We've seen in the past CM Punk and Daniel Bryan face-off against each other in the indy scene, in ROH, and now in the WWE. And now we finally get to see them together as a tag team. Both CM Punk and Daniel has worked their asses off to get where they are at today in wrestling. In the eyes of many wrestling fans they are both setting the bar for future wrestler's from out the indy scene to embark on the road to the WWE. And the WWE it's self had their eyes on former ROH talent like Antonio Cesaro, Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), and now Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards.

With Triple H taking over in the talent field department in the WWE. And is looking more into wrestlers over entertainers. Are CM Punk & Daniel Bryan setting that bar for the future of the WWE? I would say YES! YES!! YES!!!

I wouldn't say that Triple H is looking for wrestlers over entertainers.
Some or most o these people can cut amazing promos..
And as opposed to some people, I'm not against smaller guys or indy guys in wwe as long as they are booked right. As long as they are entertaining.

I find Daniel Bryan boring but am a massive CM Punk fan. I am not denying that Bryan can "wrestle" but that is never enough to make it in the WWE, at least not to make it to the main event level. I think Triple H is trying to find the correct balance between Entertainer, Athletes and Wrestlers from the indy scene, various sports and possibly acting.

Are CM Punk & Daniel Bryan setting that bar for the future of the WWE?

With WWE, it's always hard to say, especially since there seems to be a transition going on between the the reign of Vince McMahon and that of the Levesques'. There's got to be a lot of turmoil in who does what and who is in control of which. Major corporate policies seem to change at the drop of a hat.

In addition to that, factor in the probability that Vince won't be so quick to let go of the reins, even if he claims that to be his ultimate goal. I could be wrong, but I thought the changeover at the top was happening when Vince was "fired" by the board of directors......I really did think he had abandoned the daily operations of the company. Shows what I know.

Plus, it's hard to say how much of "the bar" has to do with CM Punk. The guy insists he had one foot out the door two years ago, and only the company and Phil Brooks himself know how much all that was part of the act and how much was real.

Until we do know for sure (if we ever do), the company may be reluctant to put all their Punk eggs in one basket and use him to set the bar..

In a way I think yea because they are both just fit athletic indy dudes that made it and made it pretty big.

Especially Daniel Bryan( when it comes to setting the bar ),cause at least Punk u knew has amazing mic skills and a badass persona.

Daniel Bryan came in as a vanilla midget that only knew how to wrestle but he proved everybody wrong and worked so so hard and look at him now. I think if they gave him more freedom the guyy could explode on the mic and he showed when he was WHC that he had the personality to carry a title.

There are a lot of talented indy guys who are both good on the mic and in the ring but they need to have a good attitude about things.Look at Chris Hero, the latest example.I really liked the dude, but if reports are true, he got booted cause of his "I diserve to be at the top instantly" attitude.

DB came in here and did vanilla white wrestler dude, then heel , then comedic face and which he was good at now a more serious face who just steals the show everynight with his matches.

What DB has showed is that if u are a very good wrestler and u get a good idea of how to be entertaining and how to get the crowd behind you and have a good attitude you will succed.The "yes" chants were pure genius cause its easy to do and people will do it, its easy for the adults, its easy for the kids.

I wouldn't say Trips is looking for "wrestlers over entertainers" so much as he's looking for quality wrestlers who have the capability to be entertaining. They're not mutually exclusive.

And don't ever get it twisted, if another huge, jacked, freakishly athletic guy like Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley comes walking through the door, the dude is getting hotshotted over a smaller, less jacked, "indie" style guy, regardless of who is in charge. The professional wrestling industry is built on larger than life characters, and it's easier to create those characters out of somebody who literally is larger than most lives.

It's nice that more guys who have toiled in the indies for years are getting a shot at the big time, but they have their place, and if you have too many end you end up an indy promotion. Think about it...

I always thought Punk would make it. He was a worker first. Everything was character driven. Sure he's a "wrestler" first but punk isn't at all that athletic or spotty. He's just incredibly smart and every move makes sense.

Daniel Bryan is similar but he's much more of a "wrestler". He's always been able to work a crowd and everything makes sense but I really thought his size would hurt him.

As much as I love bryan I think as far as wwe terms go punk is miles ahead. Bryan may be the greatest living technical wrestler ever but punk just has the perfect blend and balance of strengths and weaknesses which allow to him the potential to be successful in any wrestling company despite the style. I think the ideal prototype for wwe superstar at this point is some cross between john cena and cm punk. The thing with punk is that he could have been THE guy for the company despite his appearance but that's not his personality he doesn't want the celebrity he just wants to be a wrestler which is fine in my opinion. If they could they would clone cena all day hoping to get one with just bit more flexibility.
