My favorite of all time is a tie between Richard Pryor and George Carlin. I could never pick between the two. Pryor influenced all of the black comedians(along with maybe Bill Cosby) that followed and Carlin influenced all of the white comedians that followed(not trying to be racist, but it's true).
My favorite current comedian is Katt Williams. He's one funny little man.

You know it's true! I do a rather decent impression of how average he is.
I guess you're right, however, if you were to ask people like Eddie Murphey, Chris Rock, Eddie Griffin, Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, and so many others who their influence was, it would be Richard Pryor.
I Think what we can say here is that Pryor had more of an impact on the black community. But you're right, they did both influence comedy as a whole.

Those who are arguing that Pryor is the best comedian. It's true he is excellent, you could argue he made comedy what it is today. He didn't just impact the black community but the comedy world as a whole. You could say Richard Pryor is the father of comedy.

I have 2 actualy. first an australian comedien carl barron , a very funny comedien that relies on observation and creates it into hilarity. and the second is russel brand, he is a dirty, in your face comedien, if he didnt go hypo every now and then he would be great, check out russel brand scandolous and get him to the greek and witness his magic.

he's good on mock the week etc but for standup he's crap.
Agree there, but several people are better on Mock the week than stand-up, due to not having to keep the crowd going constantly as you have several other funny guys beside you to get laughs.

Did anyone ever mention the legend Bernie Mac? Damn, so sad that he was taken from us prematurely. I'll never forget the joke about his stuttering cousin from The Kings of Comedy. In fact, I watched it last night after viewing this thread and got cramps from laughing so hard.
