Another genius idea from Nintendo!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
Nintendo are at it again with their clever little ideas, and this time it's an idea that is so simple, I can't believe no one's thought of it already! Read this article for what it's about;

The days of getting stuck in games could be gone altogether, if a patent filed recently by Nintendo comes to fruition.

Nintendo's idea, made public in a patent application this week, hinges on making demonstration videos available to players while they're playing the game, either as a thumbnail view or a full-screen animation. Players could interrupt the demonstration at any point, taking control back to continue playing without assistance. Think of it as a tutorial guide that lasts throughout the entire game.

It also proposes to let players start playing at any point during a game -- a feature that's in many games already, but typically only unlocked once a player has already completed those levels. Just like skimming a newspaper article for the juicy bits, this would allow players to tackle games, in their entirety, at their own whim.

Although the patent application is chock full of grade-A lawyerspeak, it summarizes the technology as "allowing a player to freely play and enjoy the game to the end...a [system] for preventing a player who desires to clear a game by him/herself from losing his/her interest in the game."

Even experienced players resort to looking up cheats, online guides, or gamer messageboards for help when they're stuck, but Nintendo's system could remove the need to even step away from the console -- and enable less committed console owners to enjoy epics like Nintendo's own Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess without becoming bored or discouraged. Sounds like a winner to us.

Now I think this is one helluva good idea, the average gamer will get stuck completing games such as Zelda, Fire Emblem, Super Mario Galaxy etc. So the idea of giving a tutorial on the game is brilliant. First off it would help gamers who get stuck, it would be good for little kids playing it.

Obviously this would make Nintendo some cash (as I reckon there would be a system using Wii points or something), I'm sure most of us use online guides/youtube videos for help on the really annoyingly hard games, so Nintendo really have hit a niche here!

this is an awesome idea, It'll be like having gamefaqs right on your system!

It'll bring in even more casual gamers.

The only bad thing about this is that this is prime space for ads,
So when you are watching the video, some ad will come up at the bottom of the screen.

Kinda of like what youtube did.

But other then that, I don't see a downfall to this plan!

It is a good idea, it would prevent users from getting stuck on those really hard parts, especially the ones where you just cannot see the logical outcome and finish. I just wonder how many weak gamers will abuse the system, and just cut to the end of games. The game will truly be ruined for them. But that is their own fault, so good for them, ruining an $80 game. Nintendo, the leader in innovation in the game systems world has hit it again here. Just hope it isn't going to cost us.
