Actually Orton was only planned until he destroyed that oppertunity himself, not just because Eddie died and they decided to make Rey the champion. I'm not saying it didn't weigh in, but to say it was just because of that is really just denial of Rey's talent and he deserved the championship IMO.

Bottom line: People can claim Booker T deserves a title shot all they want because he has been loyal to the business. That's fine. However, the facts are: Booker T has only been in the WWE for 5 years, if this was a case of being in the company for a lengthy period, Hardcore should be a multiple-time champion now since he has been in the business for nearly 12 straight years. My point is, Booker T, despite being over, cannot hold his own as champion, especially without his court followers. He can't sell-out arenas and he is pretty stale. The king gimmick doesn't do it for me. If I want to see a "king" prance around in tights, I'll go rent 'Ready 2 Rumble.'

You talk about Booker being in the WWE for only 5 years, but what about his WCW time. Granted, it wasn't with Vinnie Mac's show, but, Vinnie thought enough of him to keep Booker around when many others got dumped...Bagwell, DDP. There were many others he didn't even bother bringing in. All in all, I think Booker deserves this. He's always been a company guy, no matter which company it is with. And don't hate on him for the King Booker schtick. Remember, it is a small, select group that can write their own storylines. You'd probably have to be an icon, a legend, or maybe you could just marry the bosses daughter. One more quick thing. If you haven't seen it, go to thesmokinggun.com and check out Booker's mugshot. Rey was never a great champion. I mean the majority of his matches consisted of him being destroyed as in being destroyed TWICE by Mark Henry the first of which he got decimated! Secondly Khali didn't even have a five minute match with him.
Rey was destined to lose it to someone thank god it was Booker T because no one else on Smackdown deserved it more than he did at this moment big props to the King.

Batista may or may not take it off of him but I wish they'd let Booker hold it until at least Survivor Series or The Royal Rumble because SD needs a heel champ now that Angle is off the roster.

He made a hip-hop album and was rapping before he got the title and the spinner belt itself is a representation of the hip-hop life-style. He's not a thug... but has a degree in Thuganomics?
