I really enjoyed the original, even though I'm fully aware that it's complete shit. Personally i dont see the point in consolodating two francises into one. Bet anyway.

From that trailer it looks pretty good. It certainly looks more violent than the original. Probably shit though.

Please ....God no....I beg of you Jesus H. Christ please please PLEASE do not do this again to us! You've already killed the Predator and Alien series' in one terrible movie, don't piss on their graves now!

I love terrible movies that are so bad they're hilarious, but me being such a Sci-Fi/Horror geek, I felt like vomiting after watching that shitfest of a movie called Alien vs. Predator. FOR GOD'S SAKE IT WAS PG-13 AND THE FUCKING PREDATOR BECOMES FRIENDS WITH A HUMAN AND HELPS HER. THAT IS NOT WHAT A GOD DAMN PREDATOR DOES. IT KILLS. WITHOUT EMOTION.

Grrrr....

They'd already fucked it up with Predator 2, which wasn't awful, and Alien: Resurrection, which was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and has made me want to tear Sigourney Weaver apart, limb by limb. That film was so fucking awful! There was about one scene of action in the entire thing, and that was when they were being chased by one Alien half-way through the movie (which was a pussy alien). In Aliens, when there were lots of Aliens, it was nonstop "Game over, man! Game over!" with Aliens pissing out the ceiling and presenting an actual threat. At least AVP2 looks like it'll have plenty of action, even though I think the predators should go back to their roots and not be such bulky "I'll appear and run and around like a moron" type things. Aliens and Predator were the shit, but to expect a cash-in to be near them is unfair.

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

It looks a hell of a lot better than the first one, what was it a 2 hour movie for 10 minutes of Alien vs Predator action?

I dont entirely get the setting of the film, why use a nowhere town in the woods when they have a massive, purpose built temple in the Antartic? Looks more ET than Alien ;)

There are also rumours of the hybrid alien/predator showing up so its all good!

Now, im just looking for my copy of Alien vs Predator the game for a bit of nostalgic fps fun.

I remember when the idea of Aliens vs. Predators was legendary, it was just going to be epic. Then AVP came out, and they just shat on both franchises' chest. I pray to GOD that this one redeems its breathern, but I honeslty believe nothing short of a miracle can salvage the franchise's.

(Havent see the Trailer, and I dont want to see it)
If i remember well, the first ended with a mix-race spawn spouting of the chest of the predator.... So, I guess that will be the major attraction.
Im not to fond on watch this one, but as a Blockbuster-bad movie lover :D I will give it a try.

Well I think it looks sweet as hell, but come on, what do you expect out of this movie?

This pisses me off, because the first 3 Alien movies are amongst the best of their genre, as well as the first Predator, but yet they keep dicking around with these movies trying to get a cheap buck out of them.

I just don't understand why Fox, well I do, because Fox is notoriously cheap when it comes to supporting its franchises, wants this movie on earth. It's so stupid. Would it really be a bad idea to try and recreate the feel of Aliens? A creepy planet in a claustrophobic environment, a sense of dread and hopelessness. The Isolation of having to wait 3 week for a rescue ship to show up? No, we get some shit mountain town in Colorado.

This movie could be good, but I'm not holding much hope for it. I'll watch it, just because I love both franchises, but i'll probably be pissed afterwards.

I'm actually excited to see the new AVP flick. The Brothers Strause have gone on record at voicing their displeasure with how the first one turned out and that they wish to return each of the series' namesake characters to their respective roots (for proof of the Predator kicking ass search for the R-Rated red band trailer).

Initially, fans thought that the first one stunk because of the ratings cuts imposed by Fox...then we saw the "unrated" version and were reminded that Paul W.S. Anderson is just a gargantuanly shitty director. The one thing that allows me to have solace is that this sequel can't be any worse than the last piece of shit was.

You know, Sam, the funny thing is that Resurrection could've been the greatest film of the series if they'd actually filmed Joss Whedon's original shooting script. It was neutered by the studio because they didn't want to waste budget on it (which is why they didn't even end up filming in Pinewood). The original script culminated in a showdown with the Aliens and humans in a remote forest with Aliens shooting out of the woodwork...literally. I still like the film for the first 3/4 of it and I love the dialogue (especially Ron Perlman's character, Johner). It was a lot like Alien 3 in terms of how the studio intereceded and basically neutered the fucking thing. Fox is a studio of notoriously cheap bastards who never want to do anything with a genre movie right.

Well I've watched the Rated R version a few months back, and it god my hopes up. Plus, I'm really digging the fact taht they are only using 12 alien costumes and not using CGI. CGI has killed the alien series in my opinion.

I just hate the fact that these movies take place on earth. i mean, wasn't the whole purpose of the Alien movies to keep the alien from ever reaching earth? It just seems that it does more to undermine the original movies then anything.

I never thought of that, but you're 100% right. They'll totally mess up the continuity from the original Alien movies unless the end gets some cheesy "cover-up" plot. which is very likely

The trailer looks great but I hope it didn't show the best clips.

Well I would love to see at the end of whenever these AVP movies end, the ship that was in the first Alien movie crash on LV-426. That would actually draw some sort of continuity. But like i said, the whole point of the Alien movies was that the company wanted them for military purposes, and Ripley and CO. was hell bent not to let those things touch the Earth. It sucks that Fox is so fucking cheap and won't invest any real money into its franchises.

The problem is that Roth and all the heads at Fox don't actually give a shit about the potential that the franchises could have...instead they do as most all studios do and look for the quick buck without regards for making a quality product in the end that will actually stand the test of time. Granted, sometimes they get lucky (Aliens?). The saddest thing of all is that James Cameron had a pitch and treatment ready to present to them back around 2003, but once he got wind of the hunk of shit AVP film they were prepping, he took his ball and went home to prep Avatar instead. Just think, we could've had a fifth Alien movie set to finally delve into the backstory of the friggin' Aliens and instead we had a wonderful outing from the director of Mortal fucking Kombat. Uggh.

What the hell is wrong with me!?:icon_eek: I loved both AVP and Alien R. I didn't think they were THAT bad. I though Alien 3 was the shits.

Predator 2 was good, also, especially the scene where he rages through the subway car! LOL!

I was pretty excited when I heard this movie was coming out. Yeah, I wasn't too crazy about the first one, but I heard that this one was rated R, so I figured it had to be better. Besides, for better or worse, I had always been a fan of the Predator and Aliens movies anyway, (Resurrection and the first AVP were the only ones I didn't really care all that much for).

Unfortunately, I've seen a number of previews and little clips from the movie, and I've come across more than a few spoilers on the internet, (and had most of those spoilers then verified by other sources), so I can say with confidence that I'll be taking a pass on this particular film.

I won't supply any of those spoilers here myself, but I can say that it was the apparent content of the film that turned me away, rather than the quality, (after I found out about some of the content, the quality was pretty much a moot point to me). I can also say that all the fanboy concerns, such as how well it fits in (or doesn't fit in) with the established Aliens and Predator lore or what it means in relation to the other films in the line, (which for the record would have been of tremendous importance to me most any other time), don't even seem to register with me at the moment.

It just seems to step a little too far over that proverbial line for my tastes. But then, that's just my opinion on the matter. To each, his own.

:twocents:

I was actually considering going to watch it tomorrow...but now I have second thoughts after going through this thread. I never watched anything except AVP and Predator 1, so it's not like I have such high standards, but still not terribly encouraged about going after the thread turned out like this.

Warning: May contain spoilers, if you really think this movie has a story.

Alright, I went to see the movie recently and so I might as well give my thoughts on it.

Not that bad, surprisingly. You could tell the entire movie was really all the wish lists they'd received from fans sort of loosely strung together ("Listen, yea, how bad ass would it be if the predator didn't have one plasma cannon but, like, two of them?"). It was nice and action-packed, which is what people wanted all along from a crossover between the two - it was never going to be a classic like Aliens or Predator, so why try?

I think that the writer's occasionally wrote in the wrong parts of the wish list though. Jocks in an Alien movie? A love interest? An ex-con brother going straight in a town that don't want him? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? Yeah, we wanted a more human story, we didn't want the O fuckin' C!

Now they're going to have another one, just so they can set things right. It'll be set in the future with marines everywhere, Hudson'll be resurrected to make his awesome last stand again, dog aliens will be back, there'll be an alien queen, a predalien. And then, they'll have done their fucking job and put in every random thing which doesn't really fit together but needs to be there. Still, loved the love interest getting killed. Leave that shit in. I don't give a shit about that Weyland-Yutani bollocks at the end though, cut it.

I thought this was a great big pile of steaming shit. Terrible movie. Worse than the original. Everything about it was stupid. Did the directors watch the original Aliens films? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Did I enjoy it? Err yeah. Dumb but fun. I still want them to make a decent AvP film though. Really it's not that hard.

How come the Alien in Alien 3 didn't come out half dog? But the Predialien is half alien & Predator? Before you say anything about the Alien in #3, dogs can't walk on ceilings.

True that. Please tell me you were also annoyed by the fact that it was pretty much Alien vs. Predator vs. The OC.

It did come out half dog, didn't it? It was smaller but quicker than the human aliens, just as the predalien was bigger and more powerful than the human aliens. Humans can't walk on ceilings either, but the aliens produced from them could.

But yea, maybe third time will be the charm if they make another one.
