Aksana Heel Turn

So for the few people out there who actually watch NXT, you would know that Aksana recently turned heel.

Here's a recap of the story.....

Aksana was facing deportation issues so her pro, Goldust, thought of the idea to marry her so that she wouldn't have to leave the country. For weeks they seem like a happy couple. The night of the marriage finally came, and the couple was married. Soon after, Aksana slapped her husband in the face and walked off. Now we have a heel Aksana.

Thoughts?

Not really into it. To me, Aksana seems to come off more as a babyface than a heel. I would have enjoyed an on-screen pairing of her and Golddust for a few more weeks or months. Because really, she hasn't accomplished much in NXT, and could have preformed as a valet for Mr. Shattered Dreams while she upped her skills after getting eliminated. Same for Kaitlyn, really.

Don't care. Most of the divas will probably get contracts and within 3 months of the end of the NXT show, they will probably be doing their own thing that will be completely independent of NXT, making whatever happens now on that show (aksana marriage and kaitlin/dolph situation) irrelevant.

Within 6-12 months of the end of the NXT show, all but the winner will probably be future endeavored or sent back to FCW, making anything happening now storyline-wise with NXT even more irrelevant.

I didn't watch NXT this week due to time constraints, however, based solely on what you've said it seems like a bad move. I can't possibly see any benefits from this, unless they're trying to fill the void left by Maxine by creating a "definitive" heel for the show. Aksana doesn't have the required mic skills or in ring skills to be a successful heel this early on. Even though Maxine sucked, at least you knew what she was on about. With Aksana, it's really awkward watching he bumble around on the mic.

Unless she's somehow got a hidden charisma that she's brilliantly been hiding this season that can make her excel in the "Green-card looking bride" role, than this will be a momentous failure.

I enjoy watching NXT because it makes a change from the typical Nexus infection that runs rampant across both major brands.

I thought the Aksana and Goldust storyline was great and Aksana making a heel turn was both emotional, clever and made for good TV...or...webcast.

I deffenitly think Aksana needs to work on her heel persona and her image now though. She looks so pretty and cute to come across as a heel. She needs to look the part to be the part. Maybe a change of clothing, hair colour etc. Always helps.

She has next to no mic skills, given the fact that she's Lithuanian. Maybe English speaking lessons? Hey, Kozlov went through some of those. She still has a long way to go though, she's still only 28 years old. She could be a great Diva.

Of course, it doesn't matter if she gets eliminated or not; she's obviously going to be signed like most other NXT dropouts.

It's interesting in that it functions like a heel turn now, after she's been up and down all season. Her schtick as the Lithuanian version of Maryse started her as a heel at the outset, then she gained sympathy during the deportation angle, and now she's turned on Goldust. I think that her frequent character changes hurt her chances on the show and in relation to the crowd. You could probably call it a tease or a swerve, but two turns spaced so near to each other hurt her ability to get over in her next face turn, if she ever gets that opportunity.

I think that she has shown great improvement throughout the season, and I enjoyed the pairing with Goldust. In the first week, she was clumsy enough in the ring to make Khali look like Curt Hennig, and while she's not putting on match of the year nominees, she's at least on par with Diva action we're used to. I'm guessing she gets eliminated next week, and the turn is probably going to seal that. That's still pretty impressive, as I thought she'd have been the first to go. I don't think she ever had a chance to win, but another few weeks of experience could help anyone.

If Creative felt the need, I'm sure they could work out an angle with Ted in that he buys the belt from her for more than she thinks she'd get from Goldust, and maybe even her "services" if that's what it takes. The latter would likely mean a split with Maryse and a possible face turn for her, which I'm not sure I'd buy (no pun intended), but I read a French interview with her a while back that said her character was eventually going to change. Go figure. Either way, I love that the storyline has given both Goldust and Ted something to do, which has been in dire need for a while now. Given the belt's involvement, I don't see the angle dying next week, nor do I see Aksana completely disappearing. Stay tuned.
