AJ Styles' Best Matches

Dark Match Jobber
I am a new fan of AJ.I really want to watch his past matches. What match do you think that AJ Styles performed his absolute best? Please help me out guys

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe from Unbreakable 2005. Even until now many see it as the best match TNA has ever done, it is the only match to ever main event a Pay-Per-View and it was a match which through the internet and DVD's etc, got TNA noticed on a wider range. Great match, very innovative.

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Elix Skipper vs. Ron Killings in an Ultimate X match. Not too sure when it happened but I'm sure it was around the time they introduced the six sided ring. Remember Elix stealing the show with some crazy shit, check for it and it should appear on YouTube.

AJ and Daniels vs. LAX at No Surrender 2006. I've got this event on DVD, is one of TNA's better Pay-Per-Views, I'd highly recommend this match, it's an Ultimate X match and from start to finish there are a lot of entertaining spots. Hernandez trying to climb across to the "X" is pretty comical too.

Hope these are what you're looking for. Enjoy.

AJ Styles is about the only wrestler that I've found time to go and watch their previous work. Usually I'll just base my opinions on a wrestler from what I've actually seen while watching. For example i didnt give a shit about Nigel McGuiness or watch any of his matches but loved Desmond Wolfe. AJ however is different, as after watching TNA for a few months I went and bought his DVDs. There's probably too many good AJ matches to list TBH but some of the best I've seen from AJ would be the cage match he had against Abyss at Lockdown a few years ago (can't remember the year sorry). The match versus Kurt Angle on January 4th 2010 I believe. And his recent last man standing match versus Bully Ray (Slammiversary 2011). The triple threat match mentioned above is worth watching just for the spot where AJ got mokey flipped and turned it into a hurricanrana.

Also, if you can get your hands on the two Ring of Honor compilation DVDs that were released:
"The Best of AJ Styles: Evolution of a Phenom"
and
"The Best of AJ Styles Volume 2: The Phenomenon Continues"

There are classics on both DVDs, especially the matches against Bryan Danielson, the match with Paul London from '04, and there is alot of really good stuff agianst the likes of Low Ki, Daniels, Samoa Joe, and CM Punk.

the triple threat match at Unbreakable against samoa joe and christopher Daniels is definatly in there but the first x divison title match (four way double elmination between Styles pysicosics, Low Ki, and Jerry lynn) was awesome but if u ask me for his best current match four way at no surrender 2009.

He has had some good matches with Abyss. Table, ladder and lockdown to name a few. The triple threats with vs Raven and Jarrett, and vs Lynn and Low Ki might be of interest. What makes AJ so good is that he is almost always at his best. He rarely has a bad match if the opponent is any good.

AJ is probably the most consistant wrestler for putting on great matches. He always seems to be or have the highlight of the match. Sometimes its just because the guy can take an insane bump and never seem to get hurt (being pushed off a cage, i believe in his second Lethal Lockdown, or his insane spot on Ultimate X when he got dropkicked while hanging on the rope just to name a couple)

Any of the matches from when TNA first started. In 2003 I remember coming home from work and turning on ESPN Classic Canada and they were playing NWATNA right from the very beginning (only a year behind haha). I had always been a WWF/WWE guy, had no idea who any of the people were (had never heard of Jerry Lynn from ECW). But was just in awe of the X Division. Though Red and Loki were awesome, Styles just seemed to invent new moves every match and do things id never seen.

Early TNA

Styles vs Lynn
Styles vs Amazing Red
Styles vs Loki
Styles and Daniels vs AMW

Or any combination (triple threat/tag teams), including the first ever Xdivision match for the TNA Title. Or the Ladder match between Loki, Lynn and Styles.

Styles vs Abyss, he was always able to make Abyss actually look really good, and although small could pick Abyss up. Their first match at Lockdown is my favorite. They battle for a few minutes before even entering the ring, including a sick spot with the cage door.

Styles vs Daniels
Styles vs Joe

Once again, any combination, the triple threat being a highlight. Styles and Daniels work slower matt based matches while Styles and Joe seem to be fast paced and brutal. I remember them doing a partial "shoot" match where they didnt pull their hits as much. Styles thigh got a massive bruise from the steps during the match. I think they both ended up pretty bruised and battered.

While I never really caught much of ROH or indy stuff, one of my favorite matches ever was Styles vs Loki Vs Paul London in ROH.

Also check out Styles vs Matt Sydal (now Evan Bourne)

Youtube this one. AJ Styles vs. Pac. One of the best matches ive seen.

As Dragon Saga said. Unbreakable 2005 - Joe v Daniels v Styles.
AMW v Styles/Daniels was also amazing, great catch syn.

A lot of his "greatest" have been listed. Thats a LOT of work to do on youtube :)

EDIT:
Styles v Daniels - Ironman I & II - I think these were at the first 2 bound for glory PPV's...VERY good.

i LOVE that match its insane and when i first watched it i didnt know who was gonna win even with knowing who wins its still an amazing match and if anybody hasnt seen it before i highley suggest watching that match! talk about an amazing x divison title match! whats funny is it was also the first x divison title match yet it was the best one i ever saw shows how much talent these guys have!

AJ Styles WAS TNA. Jarrett tried to pretend it was him, but everyone knew it was AJ.

AJ vs Low Ki in ROH was pretty awesome.
AJ vs Paul London at Unscripted I wanna say?
AJ vs Daniels in TNA. There is an awesome match between the two where AJ gets bloody and Daniels hits his STO into a submission and AJ is bleeding and Daniels trying to get him to tap. One of the early iconic TNA images.
Like everyone else said AJ vs Daniels vs Joe Unbreakable.

Basically watch any TNA PPV where an AJ Styles match is featured from the time they opened until about 2006 before all the rejects and old fucks showed up and you'll see the AJ that helped build TNA.

There's some ROH stuff against Aries and Sydal (Evan Bourne) that's pretty good. Including a fun "bang bang" style tag match with Aries/Strong vs Sydal/Styles. Really good match vs Danielson too. About 4 actually in ROH. One of them Danielson has a famous line where he goes "what do you know about wrestling? What the FUCK do you know about wrestling" to a fan.

I haven't gone back and watched a lot of these. AJ is a lot like RVD (in his prime) in that his stuff is super innovative and he takes moves so they look vicious, but thinking about it I'm guessing his matches lack much selling or in ring storytelling.

Thanks for such awesome suggestiongs guys i am gonna check all of it. I watched the AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels
vs. Samoa Joe match it was awesome. Best match I have ever seen. AJ and Joe and daniels were perfect. AJ did an amazing spiral tap on joe and daniels ,the torture rack on joe, I guess 450 spalsh outside of the ring on joe and daniels and daniels tried the angel wings he reversed it and won the match and his 5 x division title.
