Doctor Awesome
Pre-Show Stalwart
All reports and speculation are leaning towards A.J. Styles finally inking a deal w/WWE. At this point the details are speculative but the popular consensus is that he will spend very little, if any time in NXT and be a main roster performer. obviously, none of us know for sure what his deal is for length-wise or expectations of his role in the company but it's just killing me trying to figure out "WHY NOW"? This is the company that says "never say never" but they pretty much did say never, even Triple H showed zero interest.
I will say this, his work in New Japan has been my absolute favorite of his career, and that's saying a lot. Have they finally gotten over the stigma of him being a TNA guy? Forgotten that he was of no interest to them over the last several years because he was over the age of 30 (it does seem they have gotten over that initiative in lieu of signing several established guys in their 30's)? Has his work been that outstanding that they must have him???
It's very puzzling why now but I really hope that they make the most of his tremendous talent and book him not only with guys he has worked with through various stages of his career but also the WWE home grown talent that could benefit from working programs with him.
So, I ask you all...WHY do YOU think they decided to sign him NOW at 38 years old? What's the plan for "The Phenomenal 1" A.J. Styles in WWE?
