The Adventures Of Lexi Hayes: The Start Of Something New?
Three Days After Ascension:
As we go inside the hotel room of the Hayes sisters, we see Lexi sitting on the end of one of the beds with her head hung low as Jess walks out of the hotel bathroom. As she spots her sister, a concerned look crosses her face as she walks over to her sister and sits down next to her.
Lex? What's wrong?
I blew it...I had a chance and I blew it.
Jess scratches her head while thinking for a moment then responds.
Your match with elegANT? You didn't blow it, you wrestled a good match and just came up short. Sure you won't be wrestling for the EurAsian Title at Kingdom Come but I'm sure you'll bounce back and get another chance for something big soon.
Lexi suddenly looks up at her sister, with a couple tears in her eyes but also a look of anger on her face. Jess stands up upon seeing this and Lexi continues to glare at her sister who seems totally caught off guard by this.
L-Le-Lexi? I didn't know it upset you that much....
Upset me? Jess this is my dream. I'm livin' my dag gone dream and I'm blowing it! Momma would be so disappointed in me if she saw me now! I was thinkin' maybe I'm just not good enough...maybe I should just go home...
Lexi! No! Don't talk like that! You may not have won a match yet but look what you have accomplished! You managed Young Justice for a title match at Lethal Lottery, you not only competed in the Lethal Lottery Match but you had a good showing in it! Not to mention you just had a chance to qualify for the EurAsian Title Match at Kingdom Come! You...
Before she can finish, Lexi puts her hand up to stop her sister from talking.
Ya didn't let me finish. I WAS thinking that....but then I thought about it and I reckon I mighta found the soultion to my problems....YOU!
Jess seems shocked by this as Lexi stands up and points at her sister. Jess thinks about responding, but Lexi speaks up again before she gets the chance.
I reckon maybe I keep losin' cause I follow YOUR game plan, I never come up with a game plan on my own and heck, maybe it's about time I start doing that!
Lexi crosses her arms as Jess puts a hand on her sisters shoulder to try and calm her down, but Lexi brushes her off which causes Jess to speak up.
Listen Lex, I don't know what's gotten into you today but it's not MY fault that YOU can't get the job done in the ring! I'm just trying to help you and look out for you!
Well I don't need ya lookin' out for me! I'm grown up Jess, just cause you and Daddy don't think I'm able to look out for myself don't mean it's true! In fact, why don't ya go sight seeing when we get to Germany? I reckon I need some time to myself so I can come up with a game plan for my match with Hyada.
Jess thinks about arguing back, but can tell her sister is angry and decides it's best to let her cool off and nods in agreement with what she says before letting out a deep sigh.
Whatever you want Lex, just know I'll only be a phone call away if you need me.
Two Days Later:
As the scene opens, we see Lexi Hayes doing her makeup in a mirror of her hotel room in Germany. As she's finishing up, she hears a loud knock on the door.
It's open!
As the door swings open, we see Leon Kensworth enter the room and close the door behind him. Lexi turns around to see who walked in and smiles at Leon as she walks over to greet him with a handshake.
How ya doin' Mr. Kensworth?
Leon smiles back after letting go of the girls hand and nods as he sits in one of the wooden chairs at a table in the room.
I'm good thank you. Are you ready for your interview?
Yes sir.
Lexi nods and sits in the other chair at the table as Leon prepares himself for the interview. A minute later, he signals to Lexi he's ready to begin and she nods signaling she's ready to go.
Alright I'm here with WZCW Rookie Lexi Hayes who this week on Aftershock will be facing Jonathan Hyada. Can I get your thoughts on the match Lexi?
Sure darlin, going into this match I've got a new game plan, ya see since I started here I've been listenin' to my sister about how I should plan to beat my opponents and now, I'm listening to myself. I like Hyada, he's a super cool person and I consider him a friend but on Aftershock I gotta get on the winnin' track.
Leon raises an eyebrow at this statement and decides to question it.
So are you saying your gonna be willing to do whatever it takes to win this week? Even cheat?
Lexi quickly shakes her head no.
Of course not darlin! I'd like to win but I won't cheat, that's not the type of person I am. But what I am sayin' is, I'm more determined than ever and on Aftershock all I'm gonna be focused on is beatin' Hyada and provin' to myself that I can do this, that I can be a success!
Leon nods and moves onto the next question.
Before we talk more about Hyada, I wanted to get your thoughts on Kingdom Come. Right now it's unknown what you'll be doing there after your loss last week to elegANT. Do you have any idea what we can expect Lexi Hayes to be doing at Kingdom Come?
Lexi thinks for a minute and scratches her head. Finally she speaks up.
Ya know hun, I have no idea what's next for me. Heck I don't know what to expect for my first Kingdom Come but let me tell ya, whatever it is I'm gonna give it my best effort and I'm gonna try to beat whoever I end up facing.
Fair enough. do you have anything else you'd like to say about your match this week or to Hyada himself?
Ya know what hun, there is. Mr. Hyada, I hope we can still be friends after this match. I haven't talked to ya since Lethal Lottery but I have nothin' against you and I'm even lookin' forward to getting a chance to prove myself against a former champion! But at the end of the day I have one goal in mind, and that's getting the pin and leaving ya in a Hayes!
Lexi nods proudly at her statement as Leon nods as well before signaling for the camera man to stop recording as the scene fades out.
Jonathan Hyada spotted the face of the hero worshiper up ahead as he passed under one of the many lamps that lit up the city nightlife. She was all pinks and yellows, her beaming face screen printed onto a black shirt of a young brunette brunette that exited one of the many shops in the district.
Haven't seen that face in a while. Wonder what she's been up to.
The young woman gave a small wave to the shop owner as he replaced the 'OPEN' signage with 'CLOSED,' killing the lights and locking the door behind the woman as she walked off. As she departed, she slipped a plastic baggy into her purse and pulled a light coat over her shoulders to fight off the night's chill. Still some distance behind her, Jon glanced at the shop she left behind and took note of the goods they offered; rings, jewelry, and other sparkly gifts. Turning his attention down the street again, he stepped away from the shop's door just in time to catch the shoulder of a man who was traveling in the opposite direction while texting away on his phone. The man and Jon both acknowledged one another and lifted a hand or nodded a head in apology for the collision. The former Champion then stepped away, continuing on his way home and leaving the stranger behind.
'Found him,' read the text message as it was sent off, the man dipping into the shuffle of the crowd that began to leave the closing shopping plaza.
I'll see it soon again I suppose. Not in the manner I'd have at the top of my list, but I suppose after a while, fighting friends or former partners is inevitable at some point.
Hyada spotted the same brunette down the way, a bit closer now as she had stopped at a rather lengthy red light during his brief encounter with the man a few minutes before. Her pace was just as leisured as Jon's, feeling more than comfortable in this part of town amongst all the lights, people pouring out of the nearby theater and the long line of businesses that eventually tapered out into the neighborhood that Jon lived in. The hero glanced here and there, taking account of all the goings on as he 'trailed' the Lexi Hayes fan.
Though, I can't say I'm that surprised. Since Lethal Lottery, I've pretty much kept to myself, so I don't imagine Banks or whomever made the match would have held off to prevent friends from fighting. You can't protect that situation if that situation isn't a reality. Though, I'm certain facing off against her will be much like facing off against M; friendly and competitive. At least, that's all one can hope for in the ring on a regular basis, let alone being in the ring with someone you teamed with.
Jon flipped through the songs on his phone, skipping a few rounds of 90s alternative to listen to 80s rock.
Hopefully it will at least be an interesting fight, as I don't think either of us have yet to showcase the full extent of our talents. Not with everything that's been going on...
Jon turned to look back down the street to see the brunette glancing behind her, looking towards the Champion. He slowed just a bit, unsure of what was running through her mind. He checked his back, making sure he hadn't zoned out enough to miss some friend calling out to the Lexi fan but found no one. He met her eyes again as she repeated her earlier glance, though now taking a bit faster strides. For the moment, Jon was confused, as he felt there was little way she could have recognized him for who he was from so far away or tell that he was tailing her, however unintentional it actually was. The woman stood at the corner, pressing the button to change the walk sign multiple times in quick succession while looking around. He scanned down the street again while continuing toward his home and noticed a man in grey slipping in between other pedestrians with a bit more persistence than the rest of the crowd. Jon glanced to his left, spotting another man wearing grey jogging across the street with a slowly building speed right towards the young wrestling fan. She wasn't fearing him tailing her, she feared the ones moving in to swarm her.
"Never a dull moment." Jon breathed to himself, studying the crowd around him and further down the street to see how many people seemed to be closing in on this young woman. There wasn't much question as to what was going on as the man bolting across the street angled right for her and the one running through the crowd broke off to the side to head off any escape. The woman screamed out and ran from the man angling toward her, sprinting down a lane that lead back around towards the rear of the shopping plaza which would eventually lead to Jon's own neighborhood. He gave one more quick look around to make sure that he was only dealing with two would be crooks for the timing being and hustled to begin pursuit, banking off away from the crowd filtering out from the theater and cutting between stores, missing the presence of the man he had bumped into earlier.
'He's rolling, set up.' Another text was sent before the phone was slipped into a side pocket from which a length of rope dangled.
"NO, PLEASE!" Screamed the Lexi fan as she was cornered in the back area of a breakfast and lunch restaurant, leaving her vulnerable and alone. The woman's attention darted between her pursuers and the area she was seemingly stuck in, desperately trying to find an escape route. The predators raced in from the side, exploding into the small dumpster / loading area as she threw herself into a side gate that proved to be unlatched, allowing her to run off towards the apartment complexes and neighborhoods that shared the block with the shopping center.
"Hey! You cut that way and herd her, I'll follow behind!" The larger pursuer instructed his partner as he ran through the opened gate. His partner nodded and vaulted the fence to cut towards the outer rim of the apartment complexes to push her towards the houses.
Seconds later Jon appeared in the area the trio just occupied, coming to a halt to quickly check the possible exits, yanking on the door of the restaurant to make sure it was locked. As he did so, his cell went off, playing the ringtone to signify that Nataniel Black was calling. Without much thought, Jon silenced the noise and rushed through the open gate after the sound of people running and a woman screaming for help. He was losing ground as the woman and her one hunter kept dipping in and out of view as they ducked down the winding lanes of the complex, though being constantly dogged by the second man to leave the apartments behind and escaping to the more open streets of the neighborhood houses. Thinking to perhaps cut them off when they finally broke off back onto the main streets, Jon cut down side lane that separated the two populated areas and climbed a fence that let him jump up to the lower roofs of the area and bypass a lot of ground that they had already covered, hoping to catch up to them around his own home.
"NO, STOP! PLEASE! JUST TAKE--" The woman cried in terror, lifting her purse to offer the contents as the second stalker leaped into full view and landed on her, wrapping her up in his arms and dragging her down to the ground, quickly clamping his hand over her mouth. She struggled, kicking and screaming into his hand while her larger pursuer snatched the bag and looked inside it gleefully, pulling out a very expensive necklace. While he pocketed the trinket, the man looked around, questioning his partner. "This it?"
"Yeah, he'll be here soon," the smaller man replied while he held the woman on lock down. "In fact..."
Jonathan Hyada, former underground MMA fighter, former Tag Team Champion and current street hero of the Los Angeles area, exploded onto the scene of the two criminals holding the Hayes fan captive.
And then there was a second explosion, as a man standing on a nearby roof, swinging a noose, detonated a bomb that tore apart Jon's apartment right before his very eyes. Frozen in shock, Jon failed to recognize his phone buzzing in his pocket again...
