In the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania 30, the IWC have seemed adamant that Daniel Bryan will somehow be written into the main event championship match, and finally grabbing the brass ring, earning a pay off to a months-long saga that has seen Bryan being "buried", "underused", and "mishandled".
Like many others, the current main event match does not titillate me in the slightest, certainly not to hand over any of my hard-earned pennies for the privilege. However, if on one of the coming Raws the title match becomes a triple threat, I wouldn't protest, but I wouldn't jump for joy either. Such a set-up would suggest that the outcome of the match was an inevitability: Daniel Bryan overcomes the odds and through sheer will and determination becomes the heavyweight champion of the world.
But what if the victory wasn't the fairy tale ending the audience has being dying to see? What if the pay off all along was the creation of a new 'face of the company', groomed by hard knocks and tough love? What if, in the closing moments of the main event at Wrestlemania, Triple H and Daniel Bryan reveal that the whole rebellion against the Authority was a facade in order to dupe the fans; a moment reminiscent of Wrestlemania X-Seven with Austin siding with McMahon to claim the title.
How would you react? Would a Bryan heel turn and alliance with Triple H interest you? Could WWE ride the wave of discontent that has recently been plaguing its product, and turn it against the fans who created it?
Such a monumental swerve would set the stage for a new anti-authority figure to rise. One who reigns against injustice, perhaps?
