Best Sig In The World......
I just wanted to ask one quick question.......

Does A Superstar's music help determine wether or not he will hold a major title?

I think so, like if you look at certain people like Daniel Bryant. With his music right now, I don't see him in the World title hunt for a while.

That's just me and I'm open for criticism and responses.

Let me feel what you feel.

The music doesn't determine much, really. It might get you some fan support because they enjoy it, or whatnot, but if you're a good wrestler and you can connect with the fans, you'll get your shot. Sure, it's an important aspect of your character, as we're seeing with R-Truth and his whole not having any music thing, but it doesn't make the character. Lots of guys change their theme throughout their career, but it doesn't exactly change the course of their character, does it?

Music is just adding on to what a character's attitude is all about, but like I said, it doesn't make the character. It helps the fans see what the character's about, but it's on the wrestler's shoulders to make the character work. Your example isn't exactly a good one, especially since Daniel Bryan isn't really close to that level right now. It's about his connection with the fans, not the fact that he lacks ability in the ring. Plus, if the WWE decided to push him and the fans actually got behind him, he'd be able to easily take the belt, regardless of his theme.

The theme doesn't make the wrestler, not by a long shot.

Music is a KEY part of each wrestlers character, so yes it does play a big part in getting them over with the fans. The music has to match the character in order for the fans to make a connection with them. If a wrestler has default generic music, their going to do the job week end and week out. If the song is thought out and goes along with their character it adds to them, and the fans get an idea just from the song they hear how to connect with that character.

The Theme doesn't MAKE the wrestler, but it can help once they are somewhat established. If a wrestler has a unique opening to there music like Austin's Glass Shattering, Miz' "AWESOME", Taker's Gong, HHH's "Time to Play the Game," Rock's "Do you Smell what the Rock is Cooking," etc. It helps give them more identity, not to mention it's an imediate reminder of who is coming out. Sometimes when wrestlers just have generic music, it's difficult to tell who is coming out until you see them. If there is that moment of BOOM! Here they come it gets the crowd going, no doubt.

It's important, the theme has to look nice and tough...
I can't see R.Truth winning a world title, and only hearing "the truth will set you free"..
It will make it lose steam and the adrenaline if they don't have a theme song...

Every Time people hear "I hear voices in my head" - They almost die with an heart attack (yes Orton has the biggest pop)
Just imagine if Randy Ortons went to the ring with a pussycat dolls or lady gaga song?
What a stupid champion, dont ya think?

So, a theme song it's important, they need to be something that let us connect with the fans, because not every superstar cuts a promo, however is song can make us support him because you think that looks nice...
In my case, I love Drew McIntyre song, it really looks like a Champion, and he will be one day (HHH started just like him) and his song was the first thing I really thought that was cool...
It's good for us to connect with the wrestlers like that.

"The Nexus song was really perfect for their group"

Music matters in professional wrestling. When The Miz changed to "I Came to Play", people took a sudden interest. When Randy Orton changed to "Voices" it signified his transition into his "Viper" gimmick we'll say. Cody Rhodes used "Smoke and Mirrors" by TV/TV and people seemed to take a geuine interest.

It's a major part in a wrestlers "genetics" we'll say. Does it determine whether they'll hold a Championship... umm, no. But it can spark an interest which will spark a push which will eventually see said person gaining a Championship.

I would say for a superstar to have the 'whole package' a good theme tune is vital.. And by good theme tune I don't necessarally mean a good song. It needs to be a theme with a bold beginning that stands out.. For example, some the best themes out there at the moment e.g Undertaker, Randy Orton, HHH, SCSA, Miz, Rey .. All have a unique beginning.. Miz has AWESOME, rey has BOOYAKA BOOYAKA you get the drift... These themes tell us instantly who is coming out and can provide shock. When we think of the best music in the WWE, generally they belong to the best and most succesfull superstars in my opinion.

I dont know about holding titles, but i think it helps them get over.

Mr Perfect, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and LOD had AWESOME entrance music. I think it helped them to get over as characters

John Cena, The Rock, Austin too. and Mick Foley's "crash" music lol. Great theme songs.

It can add that little touch to the perfect character. If you look at every legend they have one thing in common. Totally unique instantly recognizable theme songs. However it could be argued that they become recognizable due to the wrestler becoming a star so I don't know.

Personally I think you need something that isn't generic and can be instantly recognized it's one of the things that always strikes me about TNA a lot of the time I don't know who's coming out just from their music while I know nearly every WWE star by it. One of the reasons Jim Johnston deserves a spot in the hall of fame

A superstars theme song bassically has to scream at you the moment it hits.
Such as Miz he has AWWWWEESSSOOOMMMMEEE filling the speakers loudly getting everyones attention.
Or perhaps CM Punk who needs no shouting but a huge guitar screech to take the attention.

And a theme song has to fit A wrestlers personality, build, Everything! Some themes that a perfect for wrestlers that spring to mind are Inc Ink, McIntyres, Mark Henrys, Nexus and as much as I hate to admit it.. John Cenas, those are only a handlful of themes I can think of that perfect match a superstar.

I just see a lot of times, that a superstar can't be taken seriously or get that push that they truly deserve with whack music. Mr. Kennedy's theme at first wasn't great but when his second one came out it was better. Finlay's music after he went face was not WWE championship music. The music does have to tell their story and be able to get the fan's attention.

A theme song, IMO, is very important to the character. It plays a big role in every superstar.

The most famous would have to be the glass shattering. I dont even have to say the name, because we all know who's song that is... (no, its not Shark Boy... -__-)

A theme song is an information on who is about to enter. Obviously, there have been HORRIBLE theme songs and generic themes. But there are badass theme songs as well.

My favorite themes currently would have to be:
The Nexus, Cody Rhodes (Smoke & Mirrors), Shaemus, The Corre (1st), and Alex Riley's.

Theme songs should at least have a ring to it, or something that is different from everyone else's, that way it is unique to the persona. Also, a character must play with his music. The Nexus' theme is so freaking... and I quote... AWESOME... but they don't play with it. They generically walk into the ring without a rhythm or anything. But others like John Cena come out when the rapping begins, and he does his pose in the ring when the chorus replays. A theme song should mostly fit in with the character you are playing, which makes it that much more entertaining.

Everyone brought up some good themes so far. Ric Flair and even Vince McMahon has an iconic theme. One wrestler they dropped the ball with is Abyss. He right now has taken a step backwards. AJ Styles has another good one.

But to touch on what they have all said I think it allows you that extra push to connect with the audience but it can't fix everything neither.

What were some of the worst?

I think that the theme song actually does determine who will get a extra look if it doesn't determine a future champion. I think the music if anything helps make people instant classics and doesn't really give them credibility or the push to be a Heavyweight champion. the example that comes to mind for me is from a Scott Hall and Kevin Nash shoot interview where they were talking about how Razor Ramon got over with the fans because of Scotts ability and because he had the sweet theme music.

Theme music does play a part in how people are looked at and should always add to the character and never take away. Like in 98 or 99 when HHH turned on DX ( pretty sure 99) they had him go through music for about a month before finally making it to My Time which was the perfect song for that moment in his career just as Sexy Boy was perfect for HBK when he left the Rockers. I actually think the themes are lacking these days in making people interested in a person as they did a long time ago but then again it is a new era.

I think that the wrestler's theme is important to their push. As stated before it helps to get people behind the wrestler.

However, with all the good themes that have been mentioned. Even though they may not have get HUGE pushes, Kane's Organs before the entrance. "WEEELLLL its the Big Show".

One classic that always got me excited as a kid was "Oh You Didn't Know, Your ass better call somebody". and "You think you know me"

Yes, a superstar's theme music does help determine where they stand in terms of placement on the card. Someone higher up is going to have more hardcore sounding music. Look at Orton, he got Voices to replace his old theme when he got his long title reign. McIntyre got his new theme when his "chosen one" push started kicking in. Cena replaced Thuganomics with My Time Is Now for his push to the top. Theme music helps quite a bit. WWE want the fans to go crazy when the top guys come out, therefore none of them are going to have weird or bad songs because they would seem out of place coming out for a high profile match if a cool song isn't in the background. It's very important.
