A Russian teenager killed himself after seeing his favourite anime character die?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...apanese-cartoon-character-die-television.html

A 14-year-old boy leapt more than 100ft to his death from the top of an apartment block in Chaikovsky, Russia, after seeing his favourite manga character killed in a cartoon.

Police say Leonid Hmelev died instantly.

The boy was reportedly devastated after seeing the death of the character Itachi Uchiha in the animated movie 'Naruto - Hurricane Chronicle'.

He left home after posting a message on a social networking site saying he was also 'planning an ending'.

His worried parents raised the alarm after he did not return home and a search was organised together with neighbours.

After being missing for two days his body was found yesterday and he was identified by his devastated father Ivan, 38.

He said: 'I always told him he spent too much time watching the TV - he didn't know what was reality and what was fiction anymore.'

I just can't see this character's death being the sole reason, there has surely got to be more to it than that!

Well I'd be dead about three times because of my favourite anime character.

In all seriousness though that sucks. He clearly had other problems as well though

I took Psychology 101 in College for a semester, so I know everything there is to know about why that kid killed himself.

He was a dumb fuck

When my favorite SoA character died, I almost punched the grumpy old neighbor downstairs. Hell, I still might... but kill myself? That's ridiculous!

To be fair, the Itashi/Sasuke battle in Shippuden was pretty fucking epic. I remember having an emotional reaction to it - mostly because of the truth revealed right before his death; it was great story telling - but that's just ridiculous.

"Psychiatrists and health experts in Russia blame alcohol abuse, domestic violence, rigid rules and high expectations from parents."

That combined with being from some random little town in RUSSIA, it's no wonder he escaped into another reality as severely as he did. Plus the father said he actually knew the kid couldn't tell the difference from fiction and reality, yet never bothered to get the him help. I know it's usually left-wing media bullshit to blame the parents, but in this case it definitely is the parents fault.

So this is a warning to all of the people that take the Battlezone Tournament too seriously.

Sad world we live in to be honest, I don't think the character's death is the sole reason. I do wonder how it took two days to find him.

He was a side character that appears like five times during the series

and continues to influence and appear via revivals and memories as the series goes on.

important enough to... Just don't think of it...
