A Repositioning of the Titles

Occasional Pre-Show
I know there are a lot of forums about what you would do with the titles. I know this would never happen and is all speculation and opinion. But I was thinking that with the unification of the tag team titles, what if the WWE unified the Intercontinental Championship and U.S. Championship. Moved the "New" Intercontinental Championship to Smackdown! because they seem to know what to do with the midcard. And keep the Unified Tag Team Championship soley to Raw. Do you think this would work, would this help out, your opinions?

Would not work at all.

First off, if you want to keep the tag titles solely on RAW then you would have to move Cryme Tyme and the Hart Dynasty to RAW and that's not going to happen. Plus Jericho was drafted to Smackdown and it wouldn't be great for him to go back.

Unifing the midcard titles would be bad because there are tons of midcard talent on RAW that are not ready for the main event. Smackdown and RAW each have enough respectable midcarders for their respective titles. Unifying them will mean there will be more superstars with nothing to do.

I have two scenarios I like to test out first.

Plan A.
Unify the Titles and have the Champions hold the Belts (2 or 3) and appear on all shows like Chris Jericho and the Big Show
1. the WWE / World / ECW Titles as one World Champion with 3 Belts (shows "Importance")
2. the IC and US Titles as one Mid – Card Champion with 2 Belts
3. the Women’s / Divas Titles as one Female Champion with 2 Belts
4. bring back the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Titles unified represented with 2 Belts (good way for Pac to come back)
5. bring back the European and Hardcore Titles represented with 1 Belt each (great way for RVD to come back.)

After the Champs have won their respective Belts and they are all in the ring doing a promo or something with VKM, Rob Van Dam and X-Pac show up with RVD holding the European and Hardcore Titles and Pac holding the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Titles. They could say something along the lines of, “I see this is a “Dual-Champions” party and then Triple H could say something like, “I’m the Triple Championaaa, Triple Hhhhaaa” or something like that. Of course RVD will have to drop one of the Titles to someone to show how low on the WWE Title Totem Pole the EuroHard Titles are. #@#@!! EuroHard.

This cuts the Title count down from 8 to 6 with distinct levels of "Value".

For $#!+s and giggles, if the WWE doesn’t hold another King Of The Ring Tournament, I would create a King Of The Ring Title Belt to go with the Crown. Regal could state frustrations over not winning the ECW Title and since he’s the King…you can figure out the rest.

Plan B.
Give each show Two Titles
1. Move the IC and US Titles to Superstars. This gives Superstars a “goal”. Besides the Mid – Carders should have their own show and keep the Main Eventers on the Main Shows.
2. Move the Tag Team Titles to ECW. It gives the ECW Superstar Initiative something to gun for. I’m one who thinks all the new Superstars should start in the Tag Division and work their way up from there.
3. Oh and just because, switch the Women’s and Divas Titles back.

No no no! Your suppose to kill the bus driver!

The tag titles need to stay unified, the cruiser weight titles need to make a huge jump on ECW. the US and IC title need one show, because that helps their midcard. What about a television title. That was always a well enjoyed title, so let's bring that back, and start promoting those younger midcard guys. If you get younger stars on RAW holding that title, more people get marketed, and bigger names happen. AKA the midcard get's better... Which makes wrestling so much better.

Unifying the Intercontinental and United States Championship wouldn't be a good idea at all. When I found out that WWE would unify the two sets of tag titles, I wasn't too happy about it as I thought that this, "available to superstars of each brand" thing wouldn't be used in full effect. And during Carlito and Primo's reign... that was exactly the case. But now, I find the Unified Tag Team Championships to be a pretty good addition to the WWE.

However, it wouldn't work for the mid card titles. It's been a while since WWE has had an effective United States Champion and an effective Intercontinental Champion at the same time. I feel that Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston has the potential to lead the mid card for their respective brands for atleast the rest of the year. Unifying the titles when you have such great champions right now would be the wrong decision.

On the Raw side, you have United States Champion Kofi Kingston defending the title against all-comers. For the past 3 months, he's had title defenses against M.V.P., William Regal, Matt Hardy, The Big Show, Primo, Jack Swagger, Carlito, and The Miz. He can counted on to hold the title for as long as WWE keeps him fresh.

On the Smackdown side, you have Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio, who, during his 2 title reigns, have had fueds with Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler. Jericho being more experienced and more talented than Dolph Ziggler, has had a much better feud with Mysterio. Now with Rey Mysterio defending the title against Dolph Ziggler for the 3rd straight ppv, you'd think that I would find it entertaining. However, I feel that WWE can give Mysterio a better opponent, as I think that Ziggler would make a horrible Intercontinental Champion.

The mid card titles are about as strong as they can get at this point. Unifying the tag team titles was a good idea, and keeping them unified would be a good idea. That is not the case for the mid card titles. Maybe in the future, someday, but not anytime soon. They are just fine.

Personally I'd have WWE join up, close the Brand extension it's only helping Smackdown, so end it now.

Free up both RAW and Smackdown, have the mid card title on SD with the guys bidding for it, on RAW push the main eventers but switch them up tho from show to show so the viewer can see their is no brand split anymore.

The Tag titles seem to be pushed more on RAW so have that show centered around the tag belts, and the women's title, and SD the IC, and the world title on each show.

This way it frees up the Main event scene, and would allow some of the top guys to feud with the lower guys to give them the rub, without making one of the world title pictures look weak.

The worst idea at this point in time. The tag team division is all over the place, with most of the legit teams on the SmackDown brand as well as the fact that RAW is full of midcarders where SmackDown is just getting by with the mess of a roster they have. If anything to this idea, SmackDown should recieve the tag belts & RAW the midcard championship.

The championships are doing fine as they are. The tag titles are being defended against every possible team concievable to restore the division, RAW has placed the strap on Kofi Kingston to help solidify the US title, the midcard division & himself as great mainstays on the roster & SmackDown using Mysterio to bring prestige back to the IC title whilst building up future stars of the business such as Dolph Ziggler.

The only championships at the moment that seriously need fixing are the two womens championships & the women's division, but that is for an entirely different discussion.

ok... heres simple... give ecw a cuple top sooprstrs, and give them teh hardcore (ECW=Hardcore... DUH) title as an IC/US title and have an epic rivalry w/ the top lvl superstars to bring it up to main title status. then if by this time their is actually a legit tag division, un-unify the tag titles and give ECW the ECW tag titles... and susperstars will become a 4th, ECW-ish brand when WWE decides scrubs on Raw and Smackdown need to do something
also, u cnt combine the titles... there r 2 many top guys for 1 title, and same goes 4 midcarders

I would keep the tag titles unified across all three brands

Give Ecw the cruiserweight title and have it defended on superstars - It seems most of the cruiserweights are already there and with it being defended on superstars it could give someone like Evan Bourne a chance to win it and defend it against ECW stars on superstars without sending him back to ECW or having to showcase the belt on Raw

Keep the IC and U.S where they are - the I.C title seems more prestigious and Smackdown seems to highlight their midcard better so i'm fine with that

Unify the women's belts and have them defended across all three brands

There are too many stars that need developed right now to try and unify world titles. Ziggler, Punk, Matt Hardy, Morrison, MVP, and Swagger would be buried in the midcard until HHH, HBK, Undertaker, and Batista retire

If anything, they don't need more titles. I'm pretty sure, if I remember correctly, "more titles" was what ruined the credibility of the titles in the first place, specifically the Intercotinental. If anything the cruiserweight title should come back, and be unified so all three shows lower card talent have a crack at it. Otherwise, I say keep it how it is. I really like what I've been seeing lately with the current IC and US title situations. People that have been busting their asses to keep their prestige.

Well, you know how in the olympics they have three different medals, the Gold, Silver and Bronze. Style the belts the same way, The WWE/World Championship would be the Gold. The IC/US Titles would be the Silver. And the Cruiser/Lightweight could be the bronze.

Borrowing from Age of Orton. Have those in line to get the WWE/World Champion compete on RAW, the IC/US Competitors compete on SD! and the Cruiser/Light weighters either compete on ECW, or bring ECW back to it rough roots, or replace ECW with FCW.

The only change that I think they need to make to the title situation is they need to add a second title to ECW like the European Title for instance. As it is now 90% of the guys on ECW are wrestling for seemingly no reason as they have no chance to ever win a title. Could you imagine how much better the Shelton Benjamin vs. Zack Ryder or Sheamus vs. Goldust fueds would be if one of them held a title.
