A reason to be optimistic???

So i may get absolutely blasted for probably being the most optimistic person in the world but....

I really think Awesome Kongs upcoming debut and the fact a DIVA is getting a build up points to the fact that Vince is serious about rebuilding the division. There are some real talents that she can work with there aswell.

Gail Kim has shown time and time again that she can work a great match with Awesome Kong, thankfully Gail has been getting some TV time recently so this is a real opportunity for her to step up and take the Divas division by the (lack of) balls.

Beth Phoenix and Natalya have the genuine size and wrestling skills to take Kong to a good match, even a match worth not taking a piss break during a PPV for.

Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres have come on leaps and bounds recently, hopefully stepping up with Kong and Kim will help them raise their game even further and with them being the typical "divas" who Kong will no doubt go after, they will have a chance to showcase their skills.

Laycool are arguably the most over (as heels) Divas in the division, Layla seems set for a face turn in the near future and although Kong would no doubt destroy her she could potentially pull off a "Taylor Wilde" style fluke run of wins somewhere down the line helping her to really get over.

Now the signing of Kong indicates to me that the WWE are serious about the division and really rebuilding it...which leads me to my next point...

Will they then rebuild the Tag Team division??? Clearly we need to take things one step at a time, but i feel that maybe WWE are finally realising that they need more than the Championship feuds to get people interested. During the Attitude Era, the Tag Division and the Diva division were both watchable and even enjoyable. Edge and Jeff Hardy both had real runs at the top having been created in the Tag Division, Christian looks set for his run and Trish, Lita, Chyna and more Divas were a real attraction.

So getting down to business, do you feel that WWE are looking to strengthen their product by really utilising these divisions again? or am i just being the ultimate optimist as they are beyond repair?

Signing Awesome Kong was a great move by WWE, and hopefully shows that they are looking to break just a little bit from pure T&A ladies wrestling. I think that if they book it just right, they could have a slow, long, amazing feud between Awesome Kong and Beth Pheonix, slightly akin to the Andre/Hogan feud.

Tag Team wrestling though has never been at a lower point. How many tag teams currently exist? How many tag teams that exist actually mean something? I think that they have the talent to build a solid tag division, but simply haven't put forth the effort. TNA has shown that tag wrestling can still be relevant and draw. WWE needs to learn from that if they want their tag division to be meaningful.

As strange as this might sound, I think they need to hire a trainer or two to help out. A guy like Animal, for example, could teach a course on good tag wrestling. Once you've made some teams, pull them from the main roster for a bit on an alternating basis, and go into "tag team boot camp". Learn the ins and outs, and more importantly, tag team psychology. With the rigth pairings, the right training, and some dedicated booking, I think it could be done.

The tag division in the attitude era is highly overrated.

You had a bunch of one shot tag teams, and incredibly short title reigns in 98 and 99
And in 2000 you really only had 3 tag teams in the division going for the titles (short reigns too), with only 2 other teams winning the belts besides E&C, the Hardyz, and Dudleyz.

Chyna wasn't in the divas division until she won the Woman's title in 2001. Trish also didn't win the title until late 2001, after the "era". And when she started wrestling, she wasn't that good either and was just eye candy.

The Divas might get a boost because of Kong though, with them probably all being united to stop her.

I'll be optimistic about tag teams when they start having real tag teams again. The last time they really had that was 2007.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we saw the Hart Dynasty, Usos, and Carlito & Primo since then. Plus Santino & Kozlov, Slater & Gabriel, Jerishow, and ShowMiz. Granted the latter names were randomly thrown together, they proved they were making statements in the tag division. Plus DX had a title reign in 09.

And I am optimistic. Right now the Divas are nothing but (as you said) piss breaks. They are more or less eye candy if you don't have to take a piss or grab another beer or make more popcorn. Kong will (if WWE doesn't mess this up) bring more entertainment to that division. They will definitely turn her into a monster like they did Phoenix circa 2007/08. However, expect her to be in the stupid costume contests and etc.

Those tag teams did nothing in comparison to the 2007 tag teams. Usos did nothing but a few matches with the Hart Dynasty and are now nowhere to be seen. And all of those tag teams were not all at the same time.

Wait? You guys actually pay attention to the divas outside of Maryse and the Bella Twins? Why?

Also, the tag team division in the Attitude Era was boss. Tag teams in recent years in the WWE have been complete garbage. If you want to see GREAT tag team wrestling, watch TNA.

Because Layla is incredibly hot.

TNA has great tag team wrestling, but it's been confined to two teams. Outside of Beer Money (in my opinion, *the* measuring stick of current tag team wrestling) and the MCMG, they also have a lack of quality teams. They have definitely put more effort into it than WWE though, that's for sure.
