Korn is shit. Utter shit. One of the worst bands to become successful over the last decade or so. I don't understand their appeal. I mean, I get that theres a large fanbase for atrocious nu-metal, but why these guys? Seriously?

Sponge is...wait why is Sponge even in this thing? I can think of one of their songs off the top of my head and that was "Plowed" which was a pretty catchy song. That song alone makes them better then Korn, thus my vote goes to Sponge.

I couldn't get to Sponge in time to try to save them from Korn. I have gotten on my Korn soapbox in Justin's Music Asylum before because I have had a love/hate/love relationship with them and I cannot stand, nay, I "Megaloathe" most of their fans, who are a bunch of violent and pretentious white wanna be tough guys with no sense of anything. Post grunge assholes with nothing to believe and nothing to believe in.

Sponge is actually a VERY solid band. Maybe "Plowed" comes to mind first, but "Molly - Sixteen Candles" was a very big hit for them and "Wax Estatic" got great airtime around the same time Everclear hit with Santa Monica and POTUSA hit with Peaches. I wish everyone would give them a look.

Korn were THE pioneers of new metal (not nu-metal), ie that is metal music that sounded fresh and new in 1997 onwards. As for the comments for post grunge guys with nothing to believe in, I think Korn and nu metal sum up that generation of kids who grew up with nothing.

Look at the Attitude era, look at the rise of the NWO and Stone Cold. All had attitude, something that youngsters were crying out for mid- to late 90s. I can only speak for the Uk, but wehen bands like Korn, Bizkit and Papa Roach went big, there was suddenly a mass influx of young kids looking for something new, something they could relate to. Not some rapper with his bling or some dance dj spinning away in Ibeza. They wanted music that reflected there life.

Combine that with wrestling. Everyone wanted to see there boss get his/her ass kicked, thats why Stone Cold took off. Pople want things they can relate to!

Erroneous. I live in an upper-middle class white asylum (and I despise the lack of diversity, but I digress) in Northern NJ and the kids who I KNEW who listened to Korn, wore all black, and lived as though they would amount to nothing were kids with successful parents and in a VERY strong education system but were either a) too lazy, or b) too stupid to look around and take advantage of it. I don't think the vast majority of Korn fans are "kids who grew up with nothing" though that is true in some cases. A lot of it is kids who aren't what they see, but want to be. Like white kids who want to think they are urban or black.

Korn fans spent so much time proclaiming to world such shit as "I don't care what anyone thinks about me." Ok, well then, smartass, why tell everyone? If you didn't care what they thought, then why care if they know that? They shopped at Hot Topic to be "away from the norm. As a result, they BECAME the obnoxious norm. I respect NIN a HELL of a lot more than Korn, though I repsect the band Korn and think they are amazing businessmen - oddly enough everything most of their fans are not.

It's funny, everything you have just said about Korn fans, is pretty much exactly how I feel about Nirvana fans, that aside I think that in this tournament we should be more focused on the band it's self rather than what we think of their fans

Me personally I like Korn, now I'm not gonna sit here and say that they saved my life, or that I can relate to their songs, and I'm glad cause if I could relate to their songs my life would be pretty fucked up, but for some reason when I first heard Korn they immediately caught my attention, they are a band that is always looking to try an new way of promoting the next album and are always looking of new ways of interacting with their fans, does any one remember the contest they did where they asked the fans to create the album cover for Issues, or the one where they had a fan direct the video for Alone I Break?, now tell me how many other bands can you name that have done the same thing, they have also put things together to incorporate the fans more into their live shows, I remember years back they had the Korn cage up on the stage, were winners of a radio contest got to be on stage with the band for the entire show, hell I could go on listing all the shit they've done for the fans, Korn also puts on great live shows, I've seen these guys twice, and both times were fucking amazing, the last time I saw them they did a near 3 hour set, every time I thought they were about down they come back out a bust out another bunch of songs, and played just about everything you could think off, Korn has been and always will be one of my all time favorite bands, and I'm sure in saying that I can to catch some shit now

LOL at sponge, they are one of the most obscure bands in this thing, I second the people who are asking why they are in the tourny. However Korn are possibly the worse band in this thing, they suck. I'm voting for Sponge they are obscure but they are better than Korn, I'd actualy rather listen to Pritchard out of the kooks vocals than fucking Jonathan Davis, I've actualy heard better sounds out of my arse than out of that guys mouth. The music isn't much better, they have been playing for 15 years and I'm still not sure they know how to play a guitar.

Korn takes this one. They pioneered nu metal, making is popular for the masses. They're commercially successful, and have sold millions of albums around the world. While I'm only a fan of their first album, I will give them credit for trying to bring rock back into popularity. They've had a lot of problems, but they're still making music.
