Everyone expected Daniel Day-Lewis to win Best Actor, and he did. I was genuinely happy for Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence, because they delivered some really strong performances in their respective films. Anne Hathaway really grew on me over the years, and Lawrence proved herself as a future star in Winter's Bone.

I knocked over my keyboard, when Tarantino won the Oscar for Best Screenplay. I honestly didn't see that one coming. And Christoph Waltz deserves a starring role in Tarantino's next flick. Two Oscars, and Waltz should be capable of carrying a film as the leading man.

The shocker of the night went to Argo winning the award for Best Picture. I was glad to see Ben get some well deserved recognition, but his snub from the Best Director's category feels really odd now.

A small part of me was rooting for Jessica Chastain to win Best Actress, because she should've won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress last year. But Chastain has a bright future, and she'll take home the gold someday.

Overall, I thought the show was kind of dull. MacFarlane was trying too hard to be too raunchy, but the puppet spoof of Flight was kind of funny. Mark Wahlberg and Ted was my favorite moment of the night, Sandra Bullock struggling to open her envelope takes second place, and I missed Jennifer Lawrence's fall. And Michelle Obama joining Jack for the presentation of Best Picture via satellite was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed the Bond tribute, but the showcasing of musical films just reminded me of my disdain for Chicago.

I am gona get some heat here, but to me "Argo" doesnt deserve best movie reward. Good directing and filming along with atmosphere but movie is just plane boring. He is OK but cannot say its great movie. Should off gone to "Life of Pi" and even wouldnt mind for "Lincoln" and "Silver linnings playbook"...

Others is fairly expected and OK. Day Lewis and Lawrence were favorites and even Waltz and Hattaway. All great roles and great acting...

Btw Bond movie got 2 Oscars. Hasnt happened in quite a lot of time. :icon_mrgreen:

Hilarious that you call Argo boring yet mention that Lincoln would've made a better choice when Lincoln was longer and even more boring but I digress.

I am ecstatic for Argo, the film was fucking superb and definitely deserved it. It looks even more stupid now that Ben Affleck didn't even get a nomination for Best Director.

I still believe Jessica Chastain should've won Best Actress but I'm not bothered that Jennifer Lawrence received it. She's very young yet has so much talent that it seemed fitting to win on a night that had so many records made. Chastain will win the big one soon enough though.

All of the rest I'm pretty much fine with. The only shock for me was Ang Lee winning Best Director, especially since I thought Speilberg was going to win. A very pleasant surprise.

The show was decent, I guess. Seth Macfarlane was a little cringey at times but did crack some jokes which made me legitimately laugh which is more than what can be said for some hosts.

Waltz shouldn't have even been nominated. It's a great performance but he essentially plays a charming German man. Which, I suspect, is what he is in real life. DiCaprio or Jacksown should've got the nod if they insisted on giving an acting nomination to Django.

Lincoln is the most horrifically boring films I've seen in ages. Day-Lewis is excellent in it though. Hathaway deserved her Oscar, Lawrence less so.

If your best animated film are barely three star film, scrap the award for the year. That Skyfall song is rubbish. My version, where I slip in Royal Rumble, is much better.

In conclusion: The Academy Awards aren't worth watching. Look up thee winners, watch the bit at the beginning with the pretty dresses and catch the rest in highlight form.

Even despite that, to me "Lincoln" is a better movie. Like this i feel that "Argo" is somewhat undeserving for that reward. OK movie, but not best of the year. Just my opinion...

The Academy Awards are always dull. I thought Seth MacFarlane did a pretty good job as host and actually managed to inject some life into what is traditionally, by far, the driest award show of the year. If they'd have allowed MacFarlane to really go all out and generate some controversy, as his brand of raunchy humor is known for, then it could have saved the show.

As for the awards themselves, personally, I thought Leonardo DiCaprio gave a more captivating performance than Christoph Walz. I like Walz, don't get me wrong, and while I enjoyed him, DiCaprio is the one that stood out in the movie in my opinion.

I think the Academy was a little too much in love with Life of Pi, though I'm not surprised it won so many awards. The Academy absolutely loves just about everything Ang Lee does. I certainly didn't agree with it winning for best visual effects as I thought The Hobbit and The Avengers were far superior in that category.

Anne Hathaway deserved to win the best supporting actress award as she killed it in Les Miserables. Daniel Day-Lewis is arguably the best actor in Hollywood, so winning the best actor award wasn't a surprise and it was the right decision.

The Skyfall theme sucked in my opinion. Adele is the biggest selling artist in music right now and, personally, I'm thinking that one reason she was nominated and ultimately given the award was in the hopes that her presence on the show would help draw viewers. I think it should have gone to Suddenly.

I can't for the life of me figure out why Ben Affleck wasn't nominated for Best Director. He's had the nomination and won the award at damn near every award ceremony he's taken part in for Argo. Given that Argo won Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, it makes it all the more bizarre that Affleck didn't get nominated.

Jennifer Lawrence winning for Best Actress was the right call. I thought she was abysmally dull as Catniss in The Hunger Games. But the character was kinda bland to begin with. She really turned it on for Silver Linings Playbook.

Not really much to complain about this year. Haneke should've won Best Original Screenplay and Riva should've won for Best Actress, but Ang Lee definitely deserved to win Best Director.

The only winner here that I think is absolutely ludicrous is Searching for Sugarman for Best Documentary. That movie sucked ass and The Invisible War ACTUALLY changed policy regarding the treatment of rape allegations in the military. It sucks when a much better film about a much more relevant topic is snubbed.
