i've supported him thus far, but The Boss has to go out on this one for me. In my mind, U2 are easily the biggest band to come out of Ireland. Ignore the fact that Bono is a jackass and focus on the music. New Years Day, Pride, With or Without you in the 80s are easily U2's best work. Now, they may not be as good, but 80s U2 were outstandingly good.

unfortunately i have to agree with you. while i personally enjoy bruces music more overall (and i kant stand bono), U2 were gods in the 80's and in my opinion, bruce's best albums came out before or at the very beginning of the 80's (Born to Run - 1975, Darkness on the edge of Town - 1978, the RIver - 1980) so as much as it hurt me to do so, i had to vote for U2. while i feel bruce is better overall, looking strictly at the 80's U2 has to win

You need to read the tourney rules.

Take the band's ENTIRE body of work into account. Not just the decade they are bracketed in. The regions exists only to help us compare times and organize the bands. Bruce's work in the 70's is totally valid, as is Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway."

But in the end, you made the right decision. 80's or overall, U2's body of work is superior to Bruce's.
