Shenmue is one game, that I can't honestly say that I know if I liked a little, loved, or hated. I logged major hours running around the city and the dock doing odds and ends things like buying toys out of machines, but as far as actual enjoyment, I think that I had very little in it. I mean, it was a great game, but as far as fun? It wasn't that fun to me. I didn't get to fight as much as I wanted, I never really got to do too much other than repetative work. It just seemed like more chores then fun. The story was great, and it made me want to keep playing, but after a while, and after driving the forklift into the wall during a race for the upteenth time, it seemed like I enjoyed it less and less.
Pokemon black/white added some aspects to the pokemon pot (I havn't finished it yet because I don't have enough time to run around trying to catch and train them like I used to) and even though it's generally the same game as it's always been, some aspects of it stand out.
Shenmue was ground breaking, but pokemon b/w keeps the great pokemon games fresh enough to make you want to give it a try. And with 100 extra little monster thingies to have dog fights with, it gets my vote here.
