This one is a laugh riot. :lmao:

Not because both are comedies, but simply because The 40 Year Old Virgin is way better than Borat. Borat is nothing more than garbage. It's absolute filth. Maybe its just me but I did not find that movie to be amusing at all. The 40 Year Old Virgin however was a fucking laugh riot. The plot was good and Carrell nailed his character out of the park. The 40 Year Old Virgin is just simply a better movie. Borat is trash.

The 40 Year Old Virgin in what I hope would be a walk.

I would choose "virgin" over "borat" anyday. The 40 Year Old Virgin is very fun but also very sweet and charming. The movie feels more "human" and I found you could somehow relate to the story(the jokes, virgin, relationships, ect) unlike Borat, which was funny but not in the same way as "Virgin".

I laughed at Borat the first time I saw it. But the second time, I couldn't get through it. It was boring, relied on crude jokes, and racism. On the other hand, 40 Year Old Virgin, despite being a show about having sex, is almost able for a family to watch, if it wasn't for a porno or two interlaced, and the former Mrs DDP's nipple making an appearance. Its a kind of movie where you can sit, and watch and have fun. It gets my vote.

Wow. I have no idea where to go here, as I cannot stand these kinds of films. I watched Borat with a friend of mine and a game of Monopoly broke out about 20 minutes into it. It has maybe 3 jokes in it that have any staying power at all. Its a film that tries to go over the top, and they succeed. The problem is they never stop and keep going until its just stupid.

40 Year Old Virgin is the subject of my life. There is nothing appealing to this movie at all to me. It has its moments, but just feels like I've seen a lot of these jokes in other movies and the whole thing just didn't do it for me. That being said, its God compared to Borat. Easily Carell takes it for me, and its not close.

Both films are absolutely awful. Honestly I hate any film with Seth Ruger in it. I can't stand the guy. Borat is just a show making fun of Americans. Nothing clever, just shock humour.

That being said 40YOV is atoned for by having Carrell's awkward character which I loved. Not a great film but it owns Borat

Much like "300", "Borat" is highly overrated piece of garbage. I cannot fucking stand this movie.

With his performances in "Sweeney Todd" and "Talladega Nights", I really think Sacha Baron Cohen has some actual talent in him, but he didn't show it in this movie. It's absolute crap and I couldn't even sit through the entire thing.

"The 40 Year Old Virgin", however, was fucking hilarious I thought, and ten times the comedy “Borat” was. Steve Carell gave one hell of a performance, and I thought Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and Romany Malco were great in it as well. Also, if you saw the quotes thread NoFate created, then you saw me quote a few things from this film, so obviously, for me to go out of my way and just quote random shit from the film that I thought was funny, I must've really liked it.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin by miles and miles. Borat was ok when I watched it in theaters, after a second look, you can tell it relies on shock and crudeness to get by. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, however is an amazing comedy film. It is absolutely hilarious, while also having substance. All the members are funny, and the fact that the movie is somewhat improvised is very impressive to me. The 40-Year-Old Virgin...and its not even close.

I think it's safe to assume 40 Year Old Virgin is the winner. In my opinion it is the superior of the two films.

Borat was ok, and I stress the word ok because that's all it was. In the world of comedy, you don't have to be utterly disgusting to be funny. Sure, the 40 Year Old Virgin was about a guy trying to lose it, but there were so many scenes in Borat which showed that they were desperate for a laugh and resorted to disgusting scenes in order to do so, which wern't even that funny anyway such as the naked wrestling scene where Borats friend is jacking off to the magazine and yeah I won't go into that scene anymore, but you know which one.

Steve Carrel is a very funny man and his performance in this was great and he doesn't have to resort to disgusting, gross scenes to be funny.

He is also a better actor than Sacha Cohen, or whatever his name is, the guy that played Borat.

40 Year Old Virgin > Boring..I mean Borat

At first I loved Borat and then I was okay with it but then disgusted (because of the fat naked man). I love the 40 year old virgin. Its got everything, its got comedy, drama and love. Plus, its about a guy who works at a "Best Buy type" store. I can picture people who I know being that guy. The movie was a very good movie as it appeals to almost all genres and works in every possible way. Steve Carrell is a great actor and branched out onto his own with this flick.
Some of my favorite scenes include the random out of nowhere "argument" between the black guy (I dont remember his name) and the black customer who was trying to get a discount because they were both black. Then, the black customer tells him Ima fuck you up and then he says ot Carrell "and you too" Carrell goes "What did I do?" "It dont fucking matter!"
But yeah the movie actuallly set off a few careers so I would say it did a good job and it had a great storyline that the critics actually loved. How often do critics and fans agree on a movie? Almost never.

If somebody can highlight how The 40-Year Old Virgin is hilarious then I'd be thankful. I enjoyed it. It's amusing. But it hardly had me in stitches. Overlong and sopp.

Borat does lose it's impact after a couple of viewings, but the first time you watch it, it's hilarous. So what if it's racist in part. That just goes to show how talented Cohen is. Even if you aren't racist, I'm sure he could get almost anybody to say something and take it out of context. Or maybe he'd just bring out the racist side that's ina lot of people.

I think people liked it (40 year old virgin) because it was about a guy trying to score basically (whether he wanted to or not) and basically being 40 and not ever having sex before. Its something that many in our society are not used to and to see it on the big screen made people pay attention. I do think that they gave out the wrong impression about guys and their decision to have sex (basically the stereotype that all men must be beasts) but overall it had its laughs. It did get pathetic at times (the guy who was obssessed over an ex who really wasnt that hot IMO) and girl throwing up on Carrell's character...but I found it funny for the most part. Especially towards the end when he finally is about to consumate the marriage and the guy from George Lopez (the guy who played Ernie) makes a cameo and is vaccuming the room and Carrell is like DUDE GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. Its something that I would do. :lmao:
