Going on 10 years with WrestleZone
Okay everybody, due to popular demand, I have here the events for the 2010 Wrestlezolympics. I may add more later, but no matter what, ALL members of the teams will have equal representation.
Since there are to be 8 teams involved, every event will be done using a mini-tournament format. Seeding will be 100% random. I will use an internet random number generator, the same way I did with the Survivor Series tournament last year.
Individual Events
Ironman Match:
1st round - 30 minutes, 2nd round - 45 minutes, Gold and Bronze Medal matches - 1 hour. Obviously, teams will want to send their most athletic, endurance-laden member into this event.
Submission Match:
Traditional submission match. These matches will NOT be no-holds barred. Disqualification would lead to expulsion from the tournament, so safe to say nobody will use weapons or dirty tactics. Any "banned" moves, such as Hell's Gate, will be legal, however. Best bet is for teams to send submission specialists into this event.
Falls Count Anywhere Free for All:
As opposed to the other events, which are single elimination one-on-one matches, one representative from each team will begin in the ring, and as soon as the bell rings, it's anything goes for anyone. 5 referees will be on hand, and anybody can pin or submit anybody else in the match, anywhere. When a wrestler is pinned or submits, they are eliminated, and everyone else continues. The winner receives the gold medal, the last person eliminated wins silver, and the second-to-last eliminated wins bronze. There can be NO outside interference by other wrestlers, managers, teammates, etc. Send your brawlers into this match.
Ladder Match / Money in the Bank:
Similar to the Falls Count Anywhere format, the ladder match will see one representative from each country begin in the ring, with the gold medal suspended from the ceiling. All 8 men begin a "Money in the Bank" style match, and the first person to climb the ladder and grab the Gold Medal is, of course, the gold medalist. That individual leaves the ring area, and the silver medal will decend from the rafters. The 7 remaining participants will duke it out until somebody reaches that prize. And finally, with 6 people remaining (and exhausted) the bronze medal will come down and finish the match. Your agile, ladder-experienced wrestlers are your best choice here.
Team Events
Survivor Series:
Simple format - all 5 members of a country team participate in a 5-on-5 elimination style match. Teams will face off in a single elimination style tournament. Teams will get all of their members back if they advance to the semi-finals and finals. Winning team receives the gold medal, runner up the silver, 3rd place winner the bronze.
Battle Royale:
All 40 men in the Wrestlezolympics will begin in the ring, and members will post votes to eliminate those men. The format will see each wrestler begin with 3 points each, and posts will subtract a point from one wrestler and add to another. When a wrestler reaches "0," he has been thrown over the top rope. Point values will increase as it goes on, and points will be halved at 3 intervals. The final three men in the ring will win medals - but who will win gold, silver, and bronze? Obviously, top Battle Royale / Royal Rumble stars will be the best choices here!
I will announce more events in the future, but this is just a TASTE!
