Why The Hate for Hogan?

LOL! Sorry buddy but Impact Zone fans don't count. Half of the people in the Impact Zone are just there because it is free and they live close by. What people on here are talking about is ratings and obviously the ratings show that Hogan is not someone they want to see showcased all night. Same thing with all the aging wrestlers as you so called put it. Hogan can be general manager and that is fine but as far as getting all this TV time or making it about himself during segments is not what TNA needs. Nor do they need him pushing his buddies(Hardy, Anderson, RVD, G. Bischoff) only as well.

I agree, but I am interested to see how the open challenge storyline goes. Wrestling needs fresh talent. By keeping the belt on the older talent, it turns the companies into a stale pond instead of a raging river that new fans and the old alike will tune in to see. If something doesn't happen soon, Impact will turn into a retirement home of WWE castaways.

Ive said many times on this board, Hogan exists as a major attraction in an industry that offers no pensions, no health care, and where your individual talent and performance mean less to your ability to make money than how some promoter or booker wants to use you. It's a brutal, tough business where you have to protect yourself.

That being said, Hogan draws vitrol from the IWC over stories of his percieved abuses of his creative control clause in WCW, changing storylines and match finishes that benefitted him at the expense of the product. His last minute finish change at the 94 Clash of Champions when he was supposed to lose the WCW Title to Ric Flair in order to keep the belt because it might hurt his merchandise sales, even though keeping the title hurt interest in what was supposed to be the tie breaker match in his series vs Flair at the annual Halloween Havoc PPV. He famously refused to lose cleanly to Sting after all the hype surrounding their Starrcade 97 match. He did lose fairly to Goldberg in 98, only to see Goldberg buried in the mid card as Hogan's feuds and matches got the most promotion and main evented the next three PPVs. There are other stories, some including Kevin Nash, but ultimately if Hogan made product damaging decissions to protect his character the blame for that going on falls on Bischoff, he was in charge, he let those guys run wild, Vince McMahon would never have let things get that out of control.

As far as Hogan not losing his SummerSlam bouts vs HBK & Orton, no one wanted to see the legendary Hogan lose to the obnoxious heel Orton and like it or not in a battle of legends Hogan is way bigger than HBK.

It should be noted that Hogan did put over Angle, Lesnar and Undertaker during his last Major WWE run, a run that allowed him to win a last World Title and otherwise be treated quite well.

Is Hogan a selfliss, for the good of the company, take one for the team guy like Cena, Flair, Sting, Savage, etc ? Maybe not, he is probably the best business man wrestling has ever seen. He has made a lot of money for himself over the years. If he has at times abused the system blame that on people like Bischoff or even Dixie Carter for letting him do it.

It is unfair to criticize Hogan for not drawing in his on air, non wrestling role as TNA Impact GM. Non wrestlers never draw fans the way actual wrestlers do because ITS WRESTLING, in the end we want to see a match. Now, if used properly (coherent, interesting booking has not been a TNA strong suit) non wrestlers can add a level of interest to a story that makes a match more appealing, like HBK as guest ref for HHH-Taker III or Harley Race's involvement in Flair-Vader at Starrcade 93 but ultimately its the wrestlers and the match that draws fans.

Steve Austin was a huge draw too but now that he cant wrestle, he draws almost no interest, ratings will not see a big increase if he appears to cut some promos because we all know no matter what he does there will be no match, no payoff. It doesnt mean fans dont appreciate him, but ultimately fans watch to see the feuds and stories climax in the ring. Guys like Hogan and Austin dont draw numbers like they used to because they cant wrestle. Fans arent clamoring to see retired, half crippled Brett Hart every week, same with HBK, at least now that there is no story for him to act as a secondary character too like he did for WrestleMania this year.

I can criticize Hogan for a lot of things, not drawing huge ratings on his own when he cant wrestle is not one of them.

Hogan is Barely on the T.V If u attend the IW tapings you would see that its the producers that group together all of Hogans Segments on T.V its not his Fault... The Man is only doing like one appearance per Taping.... He doesnt control what the Producers do.... And like I said His POP was better then most of what the Matchs recieved. And no one just strolls into a wrestling event cause its free you have to like wretsling to go 2 it.....

Honestly it just seems like most of the people on here just like to bitch about a great wrestler like Hogan and use him as a escape because in all honesty everyone holding a tittle right now are young wrestlers and if they are not pulling it off its not Hogans Fault.. its the Companys.... Never blame the actors / workers / wrestlers like Hogan.. Blame the management

Really now? Is there a guy handing out questionnaires in front of the door, barring admittance to people who only pretend to like wrestling? Maybe it's like the Price Is Right, where they take the loudest, most obnoxious people for the audience. I've never been to an Impact taping, so I'm not sure how they determine who likes wrestling there, and who's faking it.

That bit of sarcasm aside, it's a free show. "Liking wrestling" has a very broad brush across it; everything from people who watch TNA/IW weekly and participate in forum discussions about it, to people who are in Orlando and used to watch professional wrestling back in the '80s. You are confusing the idea of "liking wrestling" with "being up-to-date and interested in TNA/IW's product". It doesn't surprise me at all that Hogan gets a huge pop live. Hogan draws the tourists, because people visiting Orlando on vacation sure aren't doing it just for the chance to see Austin Aries, talented as he is.

mainly the points that you mentioned, like Bringing in old wrestlers, preferably his friends, their sons etc., and finally himself a key figure.. Many hate hogan because its the 'it ' thing to do, like bashing john cena.. well thats what i feel.. Also, many feel that Hogan was the person responsible for WCW's collapse, and that he is in the verge of dragging TNA along the same road. and then there are people like mark madden who never forget to mention to their readers, how much of a <beep> <beep> <beep> Hulk Hogan is.. so yeah, a lot of reasons..

The only reason that internet marks bash Hogan is because they don't know how to support their own guys. They say "Hogan holds so and so down" but none of those guys ever did anything before Hogan. Guys like Austin failed to make WCW a top promotion, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels actually caused the WWF to fall behind WCW. And the guys in TNA have failed for 10 years to make anything out of that promotion. Hogan comes in and the promotion gets more sponcers and is seen in more counties than ever before, yet the haters still say Hogan is holding someone down.

The truth be told, everyone - and I do mean EVERYONE - who is associated with Hulk Hogan benefits from Hogan's fame. Even Scott Steiner who is currently throwing a temper tantrum after getting fired by TNA has praised Hogan over the years because Hogan brings in the money.

Get over it marks. It's not about titles it's about money. Hogan may make more than everyone else, but everyone else makes more because of it.
