Round 2

linkvsrobocop.png

Two warriors from very different worlds collide as the Hero of Time faces the robotic officer. Last round, Link came out on top in the duel against King Arthur, while Robocop managed to take out another icon in John Rambo. Who will take this battle?

FIGHT!

Link has this one. Robocop only got past Rambo because well he's from the future, but that won't make a difference to Link, fire arrow to the face, the end.

How many times must this be explained you need futuristic weapons to have a chance against Robocop. Link can use all the magic he wants it's not going to work long term and his sword is weak. Now Cloud Strife he has a sword. Go Robo!

You mean to tell me the boy born to be a legendary hero equipped with a sword with mythical powers (and a fuck-ton of other dangerous shit) can't beat a robot because his sword is weak? You never watched Power Rangers? Because I see guys in spandex beat robots with crappy swords there all the time. You trying to tell me a designated hero with the power of the gods themselves can't match up? Right.

While I agree that Cloud has the better sword, a "weak sword" is a terrible argument for why Link could lose this. Link has a massive list of weapons and abilities to choose from. The magic DOES work long term. He has potions stored away in bottles to help him restore his skill points and he does not have to rely on his sword. There's the Fire/Ice/Light arrows and spells such as Din's Fire, just to name a few. Even if he did not rely on other abilities and decided to just use swordplay as a path to victory this time, his sword is anything but weak. The Master Sword can deflect projectiles (and fire its own projectiles when Link is at full health) and he has taken down heavily armored opponents with it before, not to mention the Biggoron Sword is far more powerful if he chose to use it instead.

Robocop cannot do anything after Link steals his weapons with the Hookshot, then using the Bunny Hood to run off to get out of range quickly then unleashes ranged weapons of his own. Or what if he turned himself invisible using the Magic Cape? He has more than enough bottles full of potions to keep him in the fight for an extremely long time and plenty of options that would lead to a victory in this match.

Robocop wins because he saved Sting from the Four Horsemen.

Either you know nothing about Link or were being incredibly lazy when you made this post. Robocop getting chosen by wrestling promoters to be in an angle saving a wrestling stable pales in comparison to Link being chosen by the gods that created his world themselves for saving the entire realm of Hyrule multiple times. Link could easily take on the Four Horsemen AND Sting, let alone just Robocop, but that's for another topic.

Link has just defeated an almost invulnerable, God-favoured conqueror like King Arthur and people are even entertaining the idea that he might be defeated by a one-dimensional, lumbering cyborg? Strange.

As already mentioned, Link has a store of weaponry and magic only surpassed by the likes of the Dovahkiin and Murphy has no defence against virtually any of it. If he loses his gun, which he has done against far less capable opponents than Link, it is only a matter of time before he is battered, burnt or frozen into submission.

The Hero of Time has also defeated many heavily armoured, lumbering opponents such as Iron Knuckles, who Robocop is perhaps most like, and that is without even thinking about how he and the Master Sword defeated the God of Hate.

This is true, here's how I see it going...

Robocop pulls a gun and Link grabs it with the Hookshot, somersaulting backwards to keep a good range, firing off arrows, seeds and boomerangs as he does, edging slowly closer and closer to the water. Link puts on a Zora mask and dives under, fully able to breathe, does Robocop follow him and get his circuitry wet or does Link win by moving the battlefield to somewhere advantageous removing Robocop from the fight?

If Link did that he should lose because he would be retreating. He is running away from the fight.

Wanna know why Robocop wins? He has a built in targeting system. He doesn't need to line up a shot, he can bank his shots due to a ricochet. He puts one between Link's eyes and its all over.

Don't vote based on who is more popular, vote on who has the equipment to get the job done.

Robocop's armor is bulletproof Kevlar. Arrows aren't going to do shit. Boomerangs are just gonna piss him off, and Murphy will take Link as a hostile foe and go from non lethal to lethal. Bombs are also ineffective.

Link would be unable to hookshot the gun away, Robocop has 400 pounds of pressure in each hand. That's enough to break every bone in the human hand with a simple squeeze. With a grip like that he isn't losing his gun, short of a magnet.

Not to mention his armor is extremely resistant to heat.

I'm just gonna point out that Robocop does have a jetpack and an arm attachment that among other thing includes missiles and a flamethrower. He's not totally boned without the Auto-9. Also, his armor is known to be bomb resistant, and I know how much Link likes his bombs.

That's not retreating, that is strategy. Link would be trying to trick Robocop into entering water. Now, if Link were to use think to himself "forget this!!!!" and his ocarina to teleport to Lake Hylia to avoid the fight entirely, THAT is retreating.

Link can turn himself invisible using the Magic Cape. You cannot target an object that you are unable to see. He can also avoid the shots in three different methods. Master Sword, his bottles, and even a bug catching net have all been used by Link to make projectiles bounce back at his enemies before.

Have you SEEN how much equipment Link has!? Looking at the list from Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess alone it's a very long list. Add the other games in and he has more than enough in his bag of holding to get the job done.

Regular arrows might not, but Arrows of Light as made of holy energy. He won't even need his bombs this time.

He can if Link uses a Deku Nut first to stun him, thus the pressure level in his hands is temporarily nullified with him being unable to move for a moment. That's long enough for Link to hookshot the gun away, or even take it the old fashioned way.

Not to mention his armor is extremely resistant to heat.

But not Holy energy.

Already addressed the bomb issue. He won't even need bombs in this round. Just his Light Arrows, as far as attacking is concerned. Link can turn himself invisible to avoid being targeted whatsoever, his Mirror Shield would make the flamethrower's fire bounce back, and the Staff of Byrna can make a barrier so that he cannot be shot by the guns.

Yeah, you know tracking systems go by heat and other things, not just "visual" tracking right? I'm not convinced and invisibility cape really works here very well. Arrows either, even if they are magic. They've never demonstrated armor-piercing capabilities, so just assuming they could damage Murphy seems foolish.

Retreating is a strategy. It's a strategy where you accept defeat and run away to fight another day. Murphy isn't dumb enough to follow Link into water though.

Yes he can turn himself invisible, I will give you that. However Link can't start the fight invisible, and for the fight to be fair we have to assume both combatants are able to see each other at the start. Murphy could easily use the spray and pray method with the Auto-9 and hit link.

It's also true he can deflect projectiles. Has he ever blocked a bullet though? Let alone a full on automatic barrage of bullets? He isn't a Jedi deflecting blaster fire.

Plus think rationally for a minute Dagger, if you had a butterfly net and a mugger had a gun, would you trust your net to block a bullet just because you saw it in a game?

Have you SEEN how much equipment Link has!? Looking at the list from Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess alone it's a very long list. Add the other games in and he has more than enough in his bag of holding to get the job done.

Murphy is also a cyborg programmed to not stop. Link has more equipment, but not all of it is effective.

Regular arrows might not, but Arrows of Light as made of holy energy. He won't even need his bombs this time.

Don't those arrows only work against dark forces? Regardless its still an arrow being fired at bulletproof armor. Science and history tells me it would simply fall down ineffective as it hit.

He can if Link uses a Deku Nut first to stun him, thus the pressure level in his hands is temporarily nullified with him being unable to move for a moment. That's long enough for Link to hookshot the gun away, or even take it the old fashioned way.

How far can Link throw the Deku Net? How fast can he throw it? I'll wager to say not farther or faster than a bullet.

Again I'm not convinced the arrows will work, Light Energy or not.

Even if Link is invisible he can be hit.

Has Link's mirror shield ever come up against fire? Even if it has and it is able to deflect the fire, its a stalemate because Murphy can withstand extreme temperatures.

Is the barrier that the Staff of Byrna makes a simple barrier in front of Link or is it a bubble? If it is just a barrier in front of Link it is useless because Murphy has demonstrated the ability to bank his shots. His targeting system also has heat seeking signatures built in. He was once involved in a shootout that took place in a warehouse where the stray bullets hit pipes and in classic pipe fiction they started spewing steam, allowing for no visibility. Murphy still emerged victorious because he could pick up the heat signatures from his enemies.

Link has toys a plenty but Murphy can counter them all and he wins here.

No, but his shields have a tendency to be large enough to cover him. As well as never being seen destroyed. The Mirror Shield in particular is magical in itself.
Plus think rationally for a minute Dagger, if you had a butterfly net and a mugger had a gun, would you trust your net to block a bullet just because you saw it in a game?
It's magic vs technology. Rationality isn't a factor here.

Ummm.... They hurt whatever they touch. And I'm not so sure Robocop is impervious to a hit from instant freezing arrows. Or Bombs. Or auto-target ones. Not to mention they work on Samus. You know. The ultra-futuristic bounty hunter in the robot like armor.

No kidding, but he's not gonna stand like a sitting duck either.
Again I'm not convinced the arrows will work, Light Energy or not.
If it works on hordes of demons and monsters why wouldn't it work on a cyborg? They ALL work on everything else. Including robots.

Yes. But being frozen still for a bit gives Link the match. Can Robocop break out of a block of ice fast enough to avoid being declared the loser? Or before being hit by bombs?

No. The Cane Of Byrna makes Link COMPLETELY IMPERVIOUS TO ANY FORM OF DAMAGE AS LONG AS HE HAS MAGIC AND WELL AS DAMAGING ANYTHING NON-MAGICAL AROUND HIM. Simply put he has a good minute and a half to do whatever the hell he wants while Robocop just looks on trying to avoid damage.

Guns, guns, guns and more guns. Yeah, great arsenal to counter magic. Robocop is a robot cop. Not a warrior with god-blessed equipment. If it were someone who is a capable hand to hand fighter as well as being well equipped, they'd have a chance. But this is the child who is crafty enough to stop a demon-like warlord after going through 7 or 8 demon infested strongholds. Yeah, too hard to see Robocop win here.

You bring up the word demon a lot, which leads me to believe that his Holy Magic only works on things that are evil. Murphy was an Irish Catholic cop, with a crazy strict sense of right and wrong. He isn't an evil demon, his prime directives are to Serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law. No argument can be made to him being evil, which makes me assume all of Link's Holy Magic is useless.

Robocop also has a jetpack. Link goes invisible he simply flies around waiting for him to pop up again.

Well that depends. Is the cast of Super Smash Bros. demons? If you consider Sonic, Mario, Samus, Capt. Falcon, Fox and Solid Snake demons, then yeah I guess Links stuff is useless against anything outside an unholy abomination.

Let's weigh things like this. Ganondorf is a warlord born from a godlike entity's hatred and also has one 3rd of the very force that created the Zelda universe. Robocop is a future-esque cyborg cop equipped to face any criminal threat. Link deals with forces that shape his world and beats them. Robocop deals with criminals and terrorists. Pardon my skepticism, but I just cannot see how a guy who beats a world conquered with magic powers generation after generation would fail to beat a cyborg police officer?
