Round 1; God of War (30) v Track & Field (99)

God of War.
Simply because I don't see why these old-school Nintendo games are here. Unless they're Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, or Final Fantasy, I don't wanna see them.
I lie. There are other really good SNES, PS, and Sega games. Just not fucking Track & Field.
God of War is a good game by itself. Combat, story, all good. I don't expect it to go far at all, but it deserves to beat Track & motherfucking Field.

Razorback said it all. With the exception of a select few most Old School Nintendo games are horrible. T&F is not one fo those select few.
GOW on the other thand is awesome. The way you need to press certain buttons in time to acutally kill an opponent. The story is still awesome and I've played a few dozen time.
I don't expect this game to get far either but It odes need to beat T&F.

Kind of odd, considering that they are in their own ways games about hitting buttons as quickly as you can.
Unfortunately, I think God of War is a little bit more creative in its application of said button-bashing and carved out a niche among PlayStation fanboys as a killer franchise in record time. No pun intended.
The original GOW is a contender to win the entire thing in my opinion, so gets my vote here.

Why the hell is Track & Field in this tournament? And why is it seeded so highly? Am I missing something here?
God of War easily wins here. I mean, what a dark and twisted and endlessly enjoyable game that really was. That game laughed in the face of the Prince of Persia series and said "FUCK THAT SHIT! Here's the fucking underworld!" and set you off.

Definitely God of War. The game play is awesome, and the storyline is actually really cool. Couple that with my love for Greek Mythology, and it doesn't hurt that Kratos was part of the Spartan Army. God of War is the better of the two, without question.
Track and Field was ok. I played it when I had an SNES, but it in no way can compare to God of War. I would much rather kill the undead than beat a computer or my friend in video game Olympic events.

It's sad that Track & Field is probably the most under-estimated game in the history of gaming. I had it and I loved, it was a good game for the time and kept me entertained. however God of War is just far too strong for it in this round.
God of War is a tremendous game. Graphically, it was superb, considering what it had to work with (PS2). Gameplay wise, it was outstanding, it was a game that really deserved all the praise it gets. An amazing game and just far too good to be pitted against T&F.

God Of War was awesome, and in my opinion, is the reason to own a playstation 2, and will be the reason to own the Playstation 3 with the third release. God of War is shameless War Porn fun, a hack and slash game with beautiful graphics, amazing game play, and enough of a story to keep you motivated. Then you have track and field...
