How do you view Lita career wise?

CM Steel

A REAL American
Lita: A WWE hall of fame diva, if you we're to call her a "diva". She brought in a different style during her beginning stint in the WWF/E. Prior to her time in the WWF/E Lita was known as "Angelica" at one point in ECW before debuting in the WWF/E as one of the Godfather's hoes. But as one of the members of "Team Extreme" with the Hardy Boyz. Lita was new breed of woman's wrestler. A former muilt-time WWF/E Woman's champion! Having epic feuds with fellow WWE hall of famer Trish Stratus, who inducted Lita herself into her class in 2014.

But towards Lita's last years full-time in the WWE she has been looked down upon in the world of wrestling with her personal or lovelife making media rounds. Lita cheats on her then-boyfriend Matt Hardy for "their" friend Edge while on the road before they called it quits sometime later. Then we hear of Lita in a relationship with former WWE superstar CM Punk, before parting ways as well. Lita is still making appearances on WWE TV at times. There's a positive and negetive view to look at this. How do you view Lita career wise all-around? She's in the WWE hall of fame for a reason right?

And atleast she isn't doing porn movies like Chyna or Buff Bagwell for that matter.

Lita was one of the best (if not the best) female contestants in WWF/E. She brought some interest in WWE Divas (huh, I mean women) division. The trend was set up by Chyna but she was consistently booked with men instead of women. Chyna was the one who introduced some interest in Female wrestling in WWE but then, Lita continued this. With Lita WWE got a great wrestler as well as performer. Her matches sound interesting and even her involvement in other matches looked awesome. She always played great role as a shenanigan in various matches. She introduced hardcore wrestling in Women's divisio. Why is not Hall of Fame worthy? Yes, there was a black spot in her career which was the Live Sex Celebration with Edge. That segment humiliated her too much. She hasn't done any bad thing so that she can not be called great. But, I am fine with her induction into Hall of Fame.

Lita's badass. Lita and Trish were like the Rock and Austin of the divas. Not only did they bring back the women in the spotlight (Sunny and Sable did, but more as managers), but she brought that lucha style that I can't recall a woman bringing that to the mainstream before her. She hung with the boys too, getting gored through a table by Rhyno and hitting the barbed wire against Foley. It's unfortunate that neck injury shortened her career, as I think her and Mickie could have had an on and off feud for a few years. I think there is a double standard when it comes to the issue with her, Edge and Hardy. Seems like people give them a pass, but she is stuck with the stigma. Either way, she definitely broke down walls for future divas and she goes down as one of the best ever.

I think shes one of the best female wrestlers ever and certainly the best during her era, Lita's matches I actually enjoyed more than for just watching a hot looking woman and think if anything her career was a little underrated and I believe she had the potential to have been the first female to have main evented a couple of PPV's. Only part I didn't enjoy was the whole love triangle storyline with Edge and Matt Hardy and sort of valet type role to Edge which was towards the end of her career I think she deserved a better ending to her career.

She was a woman who wrestled, rather than one who exclusively hit spots, as most of the others do. That flying Litacanrana was a move you don't see other women perform because they have neither the nerve nor talent to attempt it.

I have no problem with her "sex" thing with Edge; to me, it's no different from the bra & panties stuff in which divas are forced to engage.

Despite her up-to-date look and manner, she was an old-style woman's wrestler who would have been comfortable tangling with the gals of the 60's & 70's who were there to wrestle rather than behave as models who were trying to pass themselves off as wrestlers.

Just a question, if you're asking about how we view Lita career wise, why are you talking about her personal life? Personal relationships should have nothing to do with a person's career. Just saying.

Career wise, she's one of the best ever, man or woman. She is one of the most technically gifted superstars we've ever seen, and she developed a crowd connection like no other. Her unique moves and unique character propelled her to the top of the world, and she deserved it. She deserved to main event Raw with Trish. She deserved every title she won, and she deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. She had one of the greatest careers of all time because she was just one of the absolute best. End of story.

Unlike most women, Lita was more known for what she did in the ring, not for just being a pretty face. Her daredevil ring acrobatics got her over with fans, but they also led to her breaking her neck in 2002, which put her out of action for almost a year and a half. Her biggest fans insist she would have been the top woman in WWE instead of Trish Stratus if that hadn't happened.

I always liked Lita and thought she was a good in-ring performer, but I know she gets a lot of criticism from some fans for being "a spot monkey". I know she got an unbelievable amount of flak the last year-plus of her career for her affair with Edge, but it's been said that having her in his corner was final piece of the puzzle for Edge becoming a main-eventer.

The reason that I included her personal life in this is because she would mix business with pleasure with every relationship she had with a male co-worker. It was bad enough that the WWE put the whole Lita-Edge-Matt Hardy thing into a storyline on RAW, which was a real-life issue between the three. A live "Sex Celebration"? Really? Even the Miz wouldn't go for being apart of something like that. Lita has been hoping around too many men locker rooms while in the WWE. Matt Hardy, Edge, CM Punk. I know that she started off as one of the Godfather's hoes but...wrestling wise Lita was in a class in her own. Truly one of the best women to ever do it!

Does this answer your question now?

I didn't watch the Fabulous Moolah in her prime (though I did see her feud with Wendi Richter), so I go back to the 80s, so that said…

Lita is the best, no question in my book. You could argue that someone from the indies or TNA at one point is the best, and you can argue that other federations have more depth or allow more TV time, but in Vince's world, Lita was hands down the best.

She was the first person I recall who ever got the last match on a Raw episode (when she won the title from Stephanie, w/Rock as the ref). After that, not many, if any, ever got the closing segment. She was the first, if memory also serves me right, to get her own DVD.

She could fly, brawl, wrestle, and get into it with the guys. Her latter day career was booked poorly, but it cannot take away from her overall body of work.

I loved Lita. I was an old school fan from the 1980s. In the 80s we had Sherri Martel and Miss Elizabeth but they didn't really wrestle one on one matches but were a fantastic adage to characters - like they do with lana and Rusev now. In the 1990s we had Alundra Blaze, Bull Nakano and Rhonda SIng. Rhonda was perhaps best known to WWF fans at the time as being "Bertha Faye" but she was an incredible in-ring talent when given the chance. We also had Luna Vachon who was incredibleas a character too.

After this the WWF realised "sex sells" and went after Sunny then Sable. WWF womens division was centred around T and A. Even to the point Miss Kitty exposed her titties on PPV. It was only when Esa Rios and Lita arrived that things began to change. Lita then became the greatest in ring female performer ever (until Nattie Neidhart). Lita was incredible when she was up against talent like Trish Stratus. Incredible.

The lasting legacy Lita left the WWE universe with is one of in-ring excellence and she also became a great heel performer alongside Edge.

I was very happy to see her inducted to the WWE hall of fame because the initial way she was written off TV on her retirement was brutal and unneccessary and did a disservice to the fans of wrestling. She will always be one of the all time greatests.

Some chick who couldn't talk, wasn't particularly good-looking, showed her thong, did dumb aerial moves that looked extremely dangerous (including the most shaky moonsault in history) and was lucky to be around at a time when Austin, Rock, nWo, DX, Goldberg, Sting and others were on fire and made the business extremely profitable. Trish and Lita were both very unremarkable performers in my book.

She was fantastic.

I don't know why we keep going back to people saying she came in to WWF as one of Godfathers Ho's, as that's simply not true. She debuted as the manager/valet of Essa Rios who would then feud with The Godfather to some degree, getting involved with the hos.

In her own right, she was incredible. Her first few years were maybe a bit weaker, but she came to WWE little after a year of making her indy debut, so it's understandable.

Her work with Trish was excellent, as well as The Hardyz and as someone in the same thread said, I don't think Edge's main event run would have been quite the same without Lita. She was a focal point of various feuds and segments which would push these feuds along.

Her personal life is largely irrelevant, although it did make for some good feuds.

She was without a doubt the greatest woman WRESTLER in WWE history imo. I still remember the first time I saw her hit a flying hurricanrana to the outside on one of Essa Rios' male opponents... I was absolutely blown away by her precision. Plus, it didn't hurt that Lita was like, my dream girl (red hair and tattoos... BRRR). She was simply fantastic.

Lita personified "Attitude" during the AE and was the first female able to put on matches that were just as exciting as the males. As for her personal life, it should have nothing to do with how she's remembered for her work. Her personal issues have been nowhere near as bad as others in the HOF, and people seem to be just fine with them.

IMO (for what its worth)

Lita revolutionised modern women's wrestling with her high flying, OTT, no fear style, she could do anything most women wrestlers couldn't (or wouldn't) do.

I miss the women's division from back in the day & todays divas division is nothing compared to Lita's day.

She will always be my favourite women's wrestler & its a shame she doesn't train the divas in wwe/nxt.

I had the honor of meeting her once at her band The Luchagors gig & she was awesome in person, took the time to talk to everybody who asked for a photo/autograph.
