Female Commentators?

It would be weird having a female commentator for play-by-play. It isn't working for other male sports.

If they get one for colour commentary, shouldn't it be an accomplished vet? And the only one I can think of is Chyna - who the hell wants that? Maybe Stephanie M could share some stories, but I don't know...

So unless they get Kelly or Maryse commentating bareass, I wouldn't care for it.

I remember watching a Hulk Hogan match from the late 80's early 90's which had a female commentator and it was fine..made a nice change. I'm not sure who she was and if it was just a one off but yeah aslong as they happen to be good I don't care what sex they belong to.

I suppose it could be an interesting change of pace, but if they had a diva or former diva do commentating it should only be in small doses. There is not enough room on the announcer teams to put anyone else in full time regardless of gender. It could be an interesting idea if they occassionally had a diva come out to do commentary for matches on Superstars or something, but anything beyond that would be a bad idea because none of them including legends like Lita or Trish would fit in with the Raw/Smackdown announcing teams unless it was for a rare moment or two as opposed to fulltime.

I'd love to see a female commentator as long as they a) don't suck and b) don't get involved in some stupid story line like Cole.
I'd prefer a play-by-play instead of colour. There's enough jokes and biased comments by the current commentators already. For a job that is suppose to be neutral, they always lean towards a face or heel. That's why I like 3 people on commentary. 2 learning towards a face or heel and someone that's being partial.

WWE will never do that though. Unless she's sitting out at ringside in her bra and panties, WWE will never give them a fair chance.

In that era, my guess would be the person you're referring to is Mike McGuirk. While she's known more for her ring announcing, she did do a fair amount of color commentary, especially on Prime Time Wrestling, which was the show that aired on USA before RAW. Her and Bruce Prichard did many matches together.

Of course, anyone who watches Shimmer knows that Allison Danger, Portia Perez and Kellie Skater have all done color commentary.
