The Grey

Release Date: January 27, 2012

In Alaska, an oil drilling team struggle to survive after a plane crash strands them in the wild. Hunting the humans are a pack of wolves who see them as intruders.

You can always count on Liam Neeson to deliver a solid film. The Grey should be a nice action/drama film. The story sounds decent enough, and this could be one of the early surprises in 2012.

Seeking Justice

After his wife is assaulted, a husband enlists the services of a vigilante group to help him settle the score.

Seeking Justice was released in Italy earlier this month, but this film doesn't have a US release date yet.

Cage isn't trustworthy, when it comes to quality films. He can dish out a surprise every now and then, but this can be VERY rare. Seeking Justice doesn't look appealing at all. This trailer reeks of straight-to-video material, and Cage looks awful here. I don't have any hopes for this one, so I will not watch this film.

Big Miracle

Release Date: February 3, 2012

A small town newspaper reporter writes about three California gray whales trapped in the Arctic Circle in that unites a Cold War-era United State and USSR in an effort to rescue them.

Big Miracle might feature a touching story, but man does this trailer look generic. This film will be filled with sappy cliches, and Big Miracle will feature some cheesy moments. This could be an okay film, but I don't have any hope for this.

The Awakening

Haunted by the death of her fiancé, Florence Cathcart is on a mission to expose all séances as exploitative shams. However, when she is called to a boys’ boarding school to investigate a case of the uncanny, she is gradually forced to confront her skepticism in the most terrifying way, shaking her scientific convictions and her sense of self to the very core. Haunting and moving in equal measure, The Awakening is a sophisticated psychological/supernatural thriller in the tradition of The Others and The Orphanage, but with its own unique and thrilling twist.

This film will be released in the UK and Ireland on November 11, but The Awakening doesn't have a US release date yet.

The Awakening could be a solid Gothic style horror flick, but Rebecca Hall as the lead doesn't do anything for me. I don't have anything against Hall, but I always think of her as a supporting actress. Although, she doesn't look bad in the trailer, and this film should be worth watching.

Man On A Ledge

Release Date: January 13, 2012

An ex-cop framed turned con threatens to jump to his death from a Manhattan hotel rooftop. The nearest New York Police officer immediately responds to a screaming women and calls dispatch. More Officers arrive with swat and tactical command along with FDNY. The NYPD then dispatches a female police psychologist personally requested to talk him down from the ledge. However, unbeknownst to the NYPD on the scene, the suicide attempt is a cover up for the biggest diamond heist ever pulled. Be ready to journey on a roller coaster ride of many twists and turns and see what happens!

Sam Worthington has gained a lot of popularity and attention over the past few years. His starring roles in Avatar and Terminator Salvation have done wonders for his career, and Worthington has become a major player in Hollywood. Personally, I don't see anything special in Worthington. I don't think he has any sort of wow factor, and he was fortunate enough to land the lead in two high profiled blockbuster films.

Man On A Ledge could be a unique thriller, and this film does have an intriguing premise. I don't expect anything great or good from this film, but Man On A Ledge has some potential, and the cast looks decent enough, so I might take a chance on this one.

1911

Release Date: October 12, 2011

A historical drama based on the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing Dynasty.

I've always been a fan of Chan, and 1911 is on my watch list. Jackie Chan is taking a break from action/comedy films, and he will be involved in something serious here. This will be Chan's 100th film, he is the executive producer for this one, and he did direct this film. 1911 will be a big deal for Chan, so audiences should see his absolute best effort here.

John Dies At The End

It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.

John Dies At The End doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film will hit theaters in 2012.

This trailer does look very bizarre, and John Dies At The End could be a unique horror film. The premise sounds intriguing, and this film has made my must-see list for 2012.

One For The Money

Release Date: January 27, 2012

Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.

Katherine Heigl is on my list of actors and actresses who annoy me. Heigl's films are usually awful (Knocked Up was saved by Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Leslie Mann), and she usually portrays the same annoying character. This trailer doesn't look too bad, but I don't have any hopes for One For The Money. This could be a decent enough comedy, but Heigl is the leading lady here, so any hopes I might have for this film are officially crushed.

Joyful Noise

Release Date: January 13, 2012

Two choir members have differing opinions on how to win the national choir competition.

Queen Latifah VS Dolly Parton??? Well, I never expected to see this happen....

Joyful Noise could be one of those enjoyable feel-good family films, but I think I'll avoid this one. Joyful Noise should be a very predictable film that will go through the motions the entire time, and you just know they're going to go with the happy ending here.

Like Crazy

Release Date: October 28, 2011

A British college student falls for an American student, only to be separated from him when she's banned from the U.S. after overstaying her visa.

Anton Yelchin is one of my favorite young actors. He's already seen his fair share of spotlight (Terminator Salvation and Star Trek 2009), and he does have tons of potential. Like Crazy won't make a noticeable impact at the box office, but this could be a solid film. The story doesn't sound too enticing, and I usually don't watch romance dramas, but I will take a chance on this film, because I am curious about Like Crazy.

Contraband

Release Date: January 13, 2012

A security guard with financial troubles considers a return to his smuggling ways when an associate offers a potentially lucrative opportunity.

I'm not too sure about this one. I've always liked Mark Wahlberg, but this trailer doesn't excite me too much. Contraband looks like a typical generic Hollywood thriller. The premise sounds decent enough, and Contraband could be an entertaining film. This trailer doesn't do anything for me, but I might take a chance on this next year.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Release Date: January 20, 2012

A nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father when he was killed in the September 11 attacks.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close could be one of the more emotional and heartfelt dramas next year. Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock should draw some nice crowds to theaters, and this film could receive some Oscar nominations.

New Year's Eve

Release Date: December 9, 2011

The lives of several couples and singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year's Eve.

.....Really??? Who actually though this was a good idea?

Usually, I'm on the fence with all-star casts, but this trailer left me speechless. This particular collection of actors and actresses just looks like one giant and bizarre mess. Halle Berry hasn't done anything memorable (or good) since Monster's Ball, Hillary Swank is still struggling to return to the promise land, Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl are awful, and you can't trust Robert De Niro now a days. I don't have a problem with Jessica Biel, but New Year's Eve looks like a train wreck waiting to happen. Although, this film should have a decent run at the box office. The release date should help this film, because New Year's Eve could be a nice holiday movie, and this trailer does have that feel-good vibe. Still, I will avoid this film, because the "all-star" cast does look dreadful. Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher in the same film....Ugh...

And here's the most recent trailer for Paranormal Activity 3:

I never have high hopes for a Paranormal Activity film. The first film is highly overrated, and this trailer didn't do anything for me. Yeah, they do show a lot more footage here, but some stuff in this trailer does look kind of silly. Still, I will watch this film, because I've already seen the first two Paranormal Activity films, and I actually want to learn more about the story. The modern day found-footage horror film phenomenon returns to theaters on October 21.

The Way

Release Date: October 7, 2011

An American father travels to France to recover the body of his estranged son who died while traveling "El camino de Santiago" from France to Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

I'll always remember Emilio Estevez as that guy who starred in The Mighty Ducks films. I LOVED each film as a kid, and The Breakfast Club will stand the test of time as a cult classic, but Estevez's career never took off. He never had that one great starring role, and his track record is kind of streaky.

The Way could be a touching comedy film, but I don't have high hopes for this. This trailer just looks too sappy and bland. Also, Martin Sheen doesn't do anything for me. If The Way turns out to be a failure, then all of the blame will fall on Estevez here, because he is the leading man, he wrote the screenplay, and he is the director for this one.

War Of The Dead

Trailer #2: http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26541

In the frozen arctic forests, Captain Martin Stone is leading a finely-trained, elite platoon of American and Finnish soldiers as they attack an enemy bunker. Underestimating the enemy’s strength, they are quickly beaten back into the forest. As they try to regroup, they are suddenly attacked by the same soldiers they had just killed a few minutes earlier. Forced to flee deeper into Russian territory, they discover one of the most terrifying secrets of World War II and realize they have woken a far more deadly enemy. Death is no longer the final frontier.

War Of The dead doesn't have an official US release date yet, but this film is expected to debut in 2011, and War Of The Dead will premiere at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival on 10/22/11.

War Of The Dead could be a unique zombie flick, and the story does attract me to this film. This film could become straight-to-video material, but I want to take a chance on War Of The Dead, and I do have some hope for this film.

Cassadaga

A deaf girl attempts to contact her sister during a séance, only to connect with the ghost of a murdered woman.

Cassadaga doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film should have a 2011 release.

Cassadaga will probably be another straight-to-video horror flick, but the story sounds decent enough, and this could be one of those disturbing and creepy horror flicks. I don't expect anything great from this film, but Cassadaga could be one of those rare and surprising straight-to-video horror flicks that aren't awful.

And here's the most recent trailer for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo:

The Raven

Release Date: March 9, 2012

A serial killer challenges Edgar Allan Poe to solve a series of murders based on his stories.

John Cusack hasn't done anything memorable in years. 2012 was a popular hit amongst moviegoers, but Cusack didn't do anything to elevate this film. 2012 was just another forgettable summer blockbuster with flashy special effects. The Raven could give Cusack a boost, and The Raven is a famous narrative poem, so this film could draw some decent crowds to theaters. Although, I'm not expecting anything good from this film.

My Week With Marilyn

Release Date: November 4, 2011

Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier's, documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl.

Well, I guess Michelle Williams is taking another shot at the Oscar for Best Actress. This film should receive some attention from the Academy during Oscar season, because Marilyn Monroe is the most praised and known sex symbol ever, and the Academy could see this film as a sentimental favorite. I like Michelle Williams, she's a very solid actress with some promise, and I am interested in this film, so I will watch this. And it looks like Judi Dench is trying to win another Oscar for the Best Supporting Actress. She might have a good chance, because My Week With Marylin and J.Edgar should receive their fair share of nominations next year.

Young Adult

Release Date: December 16, 2011

Soon after her divorce, a fiction writer returns to her home in small-town Minnesota, looking to rekindle a romance with her ex-boyfriend, who is now married with kids.

I am one of the very few people, who actually liked Aeon Flux, and Charlize Theron is high up on my list of favorite actresses, but she hasn't done anything memorable in years, because North Country (2005) was Theron's last good film. Young Adult could be okay, but this trailer doesn't do anything for me. This just looks like an odd and mediocre comedy/drama, and I don't understand the logic of releasing this so close to Christmas.

Gingerclown 3D

Release Date: November 11, 2011 (Hungary Only)

"1983: A group of high school students are having a great time near Hollywood Hills at the weekend when they bump into the Loser from their school, Sam, who’s just on his way home. Sam would do anything in order to get Jenny’s attention, one of prettiest girls in school. Unfortunately she’s also the girlfriend of the school’s bully, Biff, the quarterback of the football team.

Biff and his buddies are keen to take Sam to the old abandoned amusement park to make him prove his courage as part of their initiation ceremony. They involve Jenny in their cruel game as the grand prize of the competition. Sam accepts the challenge, but the girl wouldn’t let him go in by himself; she follows him into the amusement park and a night they’ll never forget.

Because in the old park, hidden in the darkness, are frightening and somewhat eccentric monsters who love to torture innocent human beings while intensively annoying each other.”

Gingerclown should have a straight-to-video release in the US in the near future, and I actually want to a chance on this film. The premise sounds very intriguing, and I like the old school style here. Although, this could be one epic disaster. This trailer does have that straight-to-video feeling, and the cheesy theme music doesn't help anything. Still, Gingerclown could be an entertaining horror/comedy, and I won't miss the 3D, when I watch this film.

The Divide

Release Date: January 13, 2012

"nine strangers—all tenants of a New York high rise apartment—escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, and they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness, each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next. While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape even with no promise of salvation on the outside."

I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic sci-fi thrillers, so I will watch this film. I'll always remember Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese from The Terminator, and as a kid, I enjoyed his brief role in The Rock as Commander Anderson. Biehn has always been a decent enough actor, but he could have that one memorable performance in The Divide. This trailer does feature a few breathtaking moments, and The Divide could be a nice treat next year.

Act Of Valor

Release Date: February 17, 2012

An elite team of Navy SEALs embark on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent.

Act Of Valor could be a unique adventure/thriller film. This film could feature some intense and thrilling action scenes, and the Navy SEALs should give this film a strong realistic feeling. The story does sound kind of generic, but I still want to take a chance on this film, and Ac Of Valor is on my must-see list for 2012.

Sleeping Beauty

A haunting portrait of Lucy, a young university student drawn into a mysterious hidden world of unspoken desires.

Sleeping Beauty doesn't have a US release date, but I'll post one, when it's announced.

Eh, I actually want to take a chance on this, but I'm always reminded of Sucker Punch, when I look at Emily Browning. Browning is a decent enough young actress, who does have some promise, but I thought Sucker Punch was pretty awful. This film just felt like one giant disastrous mess, and Sucker Punch is high up on my list of disappointments for 2011.

Anyway, Sleeping Beauty could be a solid dark drama, but I don't expect anything great from this film. Sleeping Beauty has drawn some comparisons to Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, and this doesn't excite me at all. I don't hate Eyes Wide Shut, but this film doesn't make my list of Kubrick favorites.

Hostel Part III

Release Date: December 27, 2011 (Straight-To-Video)

"High stakes gambling takes on a sinister new meaning in this third chapter of the terrifying HOSTEL series. While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture, where members of the Elite Hunting Club are hosting the most sadistic show in town."

No! No! No!

Fuck. Why can't they just let some franchises die??? Hostel II wasn't bad at all. They stuck to the same formula they used in the first film, the all female leading cast delivered, the blood and gore was a lot more intense, and for the most part, everything worked well. There really isn't a need for another Hostel film, and I can't believe this.

Still, fans of the first two films will want to take a chance on this, and the fanbase should help DVD sales. Hostel III doesn't excite me at all, and this trailer does look horrendous. Hostel III will probably be a mediocre and forgettable straight-to-video release, but I will take a chance on this film, because I am curious.

The Devil Inside

Release Date: January 6, 2012

"Her entire life, Isabella Torelli believed her mother brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms."

I'm not a big fan of found-footage horror films, but this trailer actually looks promising. This trailer is pretty creepy and disturbing, and there are some cringing moments here. The Devil Inside could be a nice surprise next year, or this could become another low budget piece of shit. But I had these same feelings about The Last Exorcism last year, and that film wasn't bad at all. In fact, The Last Exorcism did deliver a good amount of terrifying moments, and the entire film was entertaining. The Devil Inside probably won't be a classic, and this type of story has been done before, but I will take a chance on this next year.

Piranha 3DD

After the events at Lake Victoria, the pre-historic school of blood-thirsty piranhas make their way into a newly opened waterpark.

Piranha 3DD doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film will hit theaters in 2012.

I loved Piranha 3D. The 3D effects were outstanding, and this film didn't take it self too seriously. It was a very fun and campy horror comedy, and the piranha kills were unbelievable.

Although, this teaser trailer doesn't excite me too much. Christopher Lloyd and Ving Rhames are back, so that's a positive for me, but I don't see anything different in this trailer. It just looks like the same movie with some new cast members. I'm sure this one will feature more violence and graphic nudity, but this trailer still doesn't do anything for me. I will watch Piranha 3DD, but this trailer was a huge letdown.

This Means War

Release Date: February 17, 2012

Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.

Usually, I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, but This Means War could be a fun film, and this film could feature some thrilling action scenes. I haven't seen a Reese Witherspoon movie in years, and Chris Pine has become one of my favorite actors, so I might take a chance on this.

The Descendants

Release Date: November 18, 2011

A land baron tries to re-connect with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident.

I like George Clooney, but this trailer looks so average. The Descendants looks like your standard drama that features a sappy story, and everything just seems so bland here. Clooney's name will probably draw some decent numbers at the box office, and this could be one of those feel-good holiday films, but I don't have high expectations for this.

And I found a more detailed synopsis for The Devil Inside:

"In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many."

Chronicle

Release Date: February 3, 2012

Three Portland teens contact a mysterious substance in the woods and begin to develop incredible powers. They work together to hone their skills for fun, until personal and family problems begin to turn them against one another.

Chronicle does have a unique premise, and this could be one those surprise films next year. The found-footage era is in full swing, and these type of films have become pretty popular over the years. There's a good chance Chronicle won't become a box office smash, but I do want to watch this, and I will take a chance on this film next year.

All's Faire In Love

Release Date: October 28, 2011

Two rival Medieval shows vie for supremacy in the world of Renaissance Faires.

:disappointed::disappointed:

Christina Ricci has this horrible habit of accepting roles in shit films. Maybe she doesn't care, maybe she needs the money, or she could have a shitty agent. Some of Ricci's films can be borderline unwatchable, and if I didn't have this enormous crush on her, I would've given up Ricci a long time ago.

All's Faire looks atrocious, and I think I'll pass on this bizarre and whacky romantic comedy, because I can still remember Bucky Larson, unfortunately.

In The Land Of Blood And Honey

Release Date: December 23, 2011 (Limited)

A look at how a couple's romance is affected by the Bosnian War.

Angelina Jolie is the writer and director for this one, and I do want to give her a chance here. You'll get a chance to see Jolie's directorial debut here, and this is her first screenplay. I don't expect anything great from this film, and it looks like this film might go too over the top with the sappy love story, but In The Land Of Blood And Honey could be a decent enough romance drama.

The Flowers Of War

Release Date: December 16, 2011 (China Only)

Red Band Trailer

Chinese sex workers in 1937 volunteer to replace university students as escorts for invading Japanese soldiers.

Christian Bale has always been one of my favorite actors, and I he was one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood for years. But his popularity skyrocketed with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and his Oscar winning performance in The Fighter was brilliant.

The Flowers Of War does feature a very dark and disturbing story, and this film should be worth watching. Bale looks excellent in this trailer, and it looks like this film will feature some intense and graphic war scenes.

Playback

Release: March 2012 (Limited)

While digging into their town's infamous past, a group of high school students unwittingly unlock a dark secret, unleashing an evil spirit that takes possession of its victims.

I've never been too crazy about Christian Slater. He's a mediocre actor, and I don't know why some people still feel the need to hire this man.

Playback could be an okay horror flick. This trailer does feel disturbing and creepy, and this film could feature some very gruesome violence and gore. Although, this trailer does have that straight-to-video feeling, so I don't expect anything great from this.

The Devil's Rock

Set in the Channel Islands on the eve of D Day,two Kiwi commandos, sent to destroy German gun emplacements to distract Hitler's forces away from Normandy, discover a Nazi occult plot to unleash demonic forces to win the war.

The Devil's Rock doesn't have a US release date yet, but I guess this film will receive a straight-to-video release, when it hits the US.

I might give this a try, if I can find this film. This story does sound very bizarre, and this trailer does feature some creepy moments. The Devil's Rock won't make it to theaters when it lands in the US, but this could be one of those enjoyable "watch at home" horror flicks. The gross-out factor in this film will probably be intense, because this trailer does feature a lot of gruesome moments.

Rosewood Lane

The story follows a talk show psychiatrist who moves back to her childhood home following the death of her father, only to engage in a game of cat-and-mouse with a sinister paperboy who targeted her father.

Rosewood Lane doesn't have any release dates yet, but this looks like another straight-to-video release.

I have no problems with Rose McGowan, but this story doesn't excite me. The evil paperboy stuff sounds kind of silly, but Rosewood Lane could be worth watching. This film could feature some nice jump scares, and McGowan should deliver with the leading role.

And here a bunch of random trailers that were recently taken down on YouTube:

ParaNorman

Release Date: August 17, 2012

A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse.

ParaNorman looks like an enjoyable film for everyone. This could be an adventurous comedy with some unique humor, and the story does sound fun. Technically, this is a horror film, but this trailer doesn't look too dark or spooky, so ParNorman should be able to draw audiences from any age range. I'm looking forward to this film, and ParNorman could be one of the more successful box office hits next summer.

The Innkeepers

Release Date: December 30, 2011 (Straight-To-Video)

After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees --Claire (Sara Paxton) and Luke (Pat Healy)—are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn’s final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage “ghost hunters” begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel’s long unexplained history.

This story does sound kind of dull, but The Innkeepers could be an okay film. Usually, I'm a sucker for ghost stories, and the "let's prove it's real!" stuff does attract me to this film. This trailer does have an eerie feeling, and this film could feature some nice jump scares. The Innkeepers should be worth watching, and I do want to take a chance on this film.

Livid

Release Date: December 7, 2011 (France Only)

(French Language Trailer)

"It's young Lucy's first day as a trainee in-house caregiver. She visits Mrs Jessel, an old woman who lies in cerebral coma, by herself, in her large desolate house. Learning by accident that Mrs Jessel, a former dance teacher of repute, supposedly possesses a treasure somewhere in the house, Lucy and friends William and Ben decide to search the house in the hope of finding it. At night, they get into the house, which reveals itself to be increasingly peculiar. Their hunt for Mrs Jessel's treasure leads them into a horrifying supernatural series of events that will change Lucy forever..."

Livid should receive a US release date sometime next year, and I hope it comes soon, because I would love to see this film. This trailer does look excellent, and Livid could be a unique horror flick. This trailer does feature some terrifying moments, and the old house should provide an eerie atmosphere. Also, the story sounds intriguing, and this film should feature some disturbing gore and violence.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (3D Version)

Release Date: February 10, 2012

Synopsis: Not going to post one, because everyone should be familiar with the story.

I've always thought Episode I received some unfair and harsh criticisms from Star Wars' fans. Yeah, Jar Jar Binks is VERY annoying, and I couldn't stand him when I first saw this film in theaters years ago, but I don't think Jar Jar drags this film down. The Phantom Menace can provide plenty of thrills, and the final moments of this film are packed with action. We get to see the innocent side of a young Darth Vader, and Episode I features one of the most bad ass Siths we've ever seen. Darth Maul was menacing and evil. He was the silent threat, and I always LOVE the final saber duel between Maul, Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon. Plus, Hayden Christensen isn't here, so you can't use him as an excuse for ruining a Star Wars' film. Episode I can be can a very enjoyable film, but some Star Wars' fans can't get over the "prequels will never be better than the originals" stuff.

Anyway, I can't wait for this. Usually, I'm not too crazy about 3D films, but I will watch this, because the Star Wars film series has always been a big part of my life. Episode I should have a nice run at the box office, because Star Wars does have a large fanbase. Watching a Star Wars film on the big screen can always provide a great experience, and I am going to go nuts when Revenge Of The Sith hits theaters.

The Vow

Release Date: February 10, 2012

A car accident puts Paige (McAdams) in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo (Tatum) works to win her heart again.

I can't stand Channing Tatum, but Rachel McAdams is one of my favorite actresses, so I will give this one a chance. The Vow could be one of those mediocre and sappy romance dramas, but I will try to go into this one with a positive mindset. The story sounds decent enough, and there's a good chance they'll go with the happy ending here.

Safe House

Release Date: February 10, 2012

When a CIA-operated safe house is targeted by a group of bad guys, the facility's house-sitter is tasked with the dangerous job of moving the criminal who is being hidden there to another secure location.

You can always count on Denzel Washington, but I'm not too sure about Ryan Reynolds here. I always think of Reynolds as a comedy guy, because his comedies can be more entertaining most of the time, and he does look out of place in this trailer. Still, Safe House should be an entertaining action/thriller. This could be a fun film, and Denzel's character does draw me to this one, so I will take a chance on this.

And here's the most recent trailer for Underworld: Awakening:

First, I want to share some more info about The Innkeepers. Apparently, the December 30 release date is for Video On Demand only. The Innkeepers will have a short run with a limited release in theaters on February 3, and the DVD release should come shortly after this.

Project X

Release Date: March 2, 2012

A couple of teens decide to film and throw a large house party which soon becomes the greatest party of their lives, as everyone comes and the whole party is a success. Things spiral out of control when the cops come to stop it and other members of the party become reckless and soon start a fight with the riot police.

I really don't understand the point of this film, and this synopsis doesn't change my feelings. Yeah, I know, I haven't seen it yet, but the trailer just shows a bunch of young kids, who want to be cool. They want to impress the girls who always rejected them, so they throw a wild house party, and everything obviously takes a turn for the worse, as a chaotic riot erupts. I think Project X looks pretty terrible, but this film might have some success at theaters. Found-footage films have become very popular, and the wild and vulgar themes will attract some people to this film.

Shame

Release Date: December 2, 2011

Brandon (Michael Fassbender) is a 30-something yuppie living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life and urges. After his wayward younger sister (Carey Mulligan) moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control.

Michael Fassvender has gained some recognition in the mainstream world over the past years, and he is slowly rising as a star in Hollywood. Shame could be that one starring role that helps put him over the top, and I am looking forward to this film. Shame could be an emotional and dark drama, and Carey Mulligan is a nice addition here, so the acting should be one of the highlights of this film.

21 Jump Street

Release Date: March 16, 2012

Red Band Trailer

Two undercover police officers (Hill and Tatum) go undercover in a high school in order to bust a drug ring.

Ugh, Channing Tatum again. He's apart of some films I'm looking forward to in 2012, he is a terrible actor, and I usually try to avoid most of his movies.

Anyway, 21 Jump Street could be a decent comedy. This film will be filled with tons of profanity, and the humor in this film will be very raunchy. Hill and Tatum as a duo don't excite me, and this trailer doesn't excite me, but 21 Jump Street could provide a few laughs, so I might take a chance on this.

Goon

Labelled an outcast by his brainy family, a bouncer overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way.

Goon doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film is expected to hit theaters in February.

Sean William Scott gained a lot of popularity as Stifler, and the American Pie films have been his bread and butter, because I've always thought the majority of his work was mediocre at best.

Goon could be one of those fun silly comedies, and Scott's character seems like the type of guy who you would want to root for. The cast looks pretty solid here, and Goon could be an enjoyable comedy.

Wanderlust

Release Date: February 24, 2012

After an urban couple purchases a place in New York, the husband loses his job. With no other options, the couple leaves for Georgia to live with family. Along the way, they stay at a bed and breakfast hotel that turns out to be a hippie commune.

Wanderlust could be a unique comedy. Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd should form a likeable duo, and this film could feature some touching moments. It looks like Aniston and Rudd will portray the same type of characters we've seen in so many of their other films, but I will try to ignore their routine roles here, because the story does sound intriguing.

Repeaters

"a gritty mind-bending thriller about three twenty-somethings who find themselves in an impossible time labyrinth, where each day they awaken to the same terrifying day as the preceding one."

I couldn't find a release date for Repeaters, but I'll post the official release date, when it's announced.

Yeah, I don't think this film will have any sort of middle ground. Repeaters could be a decent enough science-fiction thriller, or this film could be one gigantic mess. I think I'll wait for the DVD release on this one, because this dark and twisted version of Groundhog Day doesn't excite me too much.

Akuma

Akuma doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film will hit theaters next fall.

Umm, call me crazy, but am I the only one who feels a strong Paranormal Activity vibe here? In fact, it looks like they used actual footage from the Paranormal Activity films for this trailer.

Anyway, as of right now, Akuma doesn't excite me at all, because this trailer is pure garbage. Yeah, this is just a promo/teaser trailer, and this trailer doesn't feature any actual footage from the movie, but still, this trailer sucks. Trailers are supposed raise your curiosity level for a film. They're supposed to give you that "I can't wait to see this!" feeling, but this teaser makes me want to avoid this film at all costs. Akuma could be worth watching, but this trailer has killed any positive feelings I originally had for this film.

A Thousand Words

Release Dates: March 23 ,2012

A blasé guy learns that he has only 1,000 words left to speak before he will die.

Eddie Murphy might be on the path to a comeback, and A Thousand Words could help his cause. A Thousand Words could be a solid comedy, the story sounds interesting enough, and this trailer doesn't look bad. This film probably won't become a box office hit, and I don't expect anything great from this, but A Thousand Words should be worth watching, and I do want to take a chance on this.

I Melt With You

Release Date: December 9, 2011

Former high school friends (Piven, Lowe, Jane, McKay) reunite for a summer reunion but it leads them to face the apparent disillusionment that defines their lives. After tragedy strikes the friends at a party one night, one of them has a realization. In response they decide to resurrect a former pact by which to live and die, thus creating a new world order.

I love Entourage, and I always enjoy Jeremy Piven, but the rest of the cast doesn't excite me too much. Still, I Melt With You could be a decent enough drama. The story for this film doesn't sound that great, but this film should feature its fair share of emotional moments. I'm on of the fence now, but I might give I Melt With You a try somewhere down the line.

388 Arletta Avenue

"Shot from the point of view of hidden cameras, the film follows a thirty-something couple, James and Amy Deakin, as they are secretly videotaped 24/7 by a mysterious stalker in their home, on the streets and at their workplace. The stalker uses information gleaned from the footage to subtly manipulate the unsuspecting couple and cracks in their relationship surface. When Amy suddenly vanishes, James is not sure whether she has been abducted or has simply left him. As the acts of the tormentor become more twisted and violent, James desperately tries to figure out who is behind the terror in order to save his wife. But it seems the stalker is always one move ahead…"

388 Arletta Avenue doesn't have an official release date yet yet, but this film will be released sometime next year, and this one could go straight-to-video.

Nick Stahl is a solid actor, and his performance in Bully was pretty good. Bully is probably my favorite Stahl film, and I usually enjoy most of his films. 388 Arletta Avenue could be a solid thriller, and the story sounds decent enough. This film won't make a noticeable impact, but 388 Arletta Avenue could be one of those enjoyable watch at home films.

The Road

"A twelve year old cold case is reopened when three teens are missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets of the haunted road may finally be revealed."

The Road doesn't have an official release date just yet, but this film should receive a limited release in 2012.

I want to take a chance on this film, because The Road could be one of those silent surprises next year. This trailer looks creepy and disturbing, and the story does sound intriguing. I have high hopes for this film, and The Road is on my must-see list for 2012.

Hallow Pointe

Henry and Jane are hoping a weekend there will help rekindle their love for each other. Everything seems to be going as planned...until the sun sets and the full moon lights up the sky.

Hallow Pointe should receive a release next year, and I might take a chance on this. This trailer is violent and spooky, and Hallow Pointe could be a solid werewolf flick. As of right now, I don't have high expectations for Hallow Pointe, but this is just a teaser trailer, so this film could surprise me.

The Levenger Tapes

Detectives in a remote town pore through every frame of a troubling tape to find the whereabouts of three missing college students. The chilling footage becomes more and more disturbing when the students come upon the bloody dress of an 8-year-old girl in the secluded wilderness and take it upon themselves to find her. Linking the case of the missing girl and the missing students together, the detectives race to piece enough information together to find them alive.

The Levenger Tapes doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film should receive a straight-to-video release, when it hits the US.

Usually, I'm not a fan of found-footage style films, but The Levenger Tapes could be different. They are showing the footage of what actually happened, and at the same time, the detectives are trying to solve the disturbing mystery. I want to see how they blend both storylines together here, and this style of filmmaking does raise my curiosity level for this film. This trailer does feel creepy, and the story does sound disturbing, and I will take a chance on The Levenger Tapes.

Catch .44

Release Date: December 20, 2011 (Straight-To-Video)

For Tes (Akerman) and her two cohorts Kara (Nikki Reed, Thirteen, the Twilight franchise) and Tara (Deborah Ann Woll, “True Blood”), the job sounded simple enough: intercept a double-cross drug shipment for their crime boss Mel (Willis) at an isolated diner. But when an unstoppable chain of events unfolds, everyone soon realizes no one is who they seem and the job may be something other than eliminating the competition. What started as simple instructions has now turned into a deadly cat-and-mouse game – with large guns pointed at everyone. Catch .44 also stars Brad Dourif (The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, Dune), Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”) and Shea Whigham (“Boardwalk Empire”).

Eh, I really don't what to think about this. Catch .44 could be a decent enough action/drama, but I just see a mediocre and forgettable straight-to-video release, when I look at this trailer. Although, I am interested in Bruce Willis' character here. Usually, Willis is more enjoyable as the hero, but Mel could be one of those eccentric and quirky bad guys. Catch .44 could be a decent enough film, and I might take a chance on this.

Snow White & The Huntsman

Release Date: June 1, 2012

In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.

I've never been able to get into Snow White, but Snow White & The Huntsman should provide a more a darker twist for the famous fairytale. I'll watch anything with Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth does seem like the perfect choice for the role of The Huntsman. Kristen Stewart could be a decent Snow White, and I'm kind of surprised she received the lead role here. This film will surely be one of the more popular mainstream films next summer, and Stewart will have her chance to step outside of the Twilight shadow again. The Twilight stars are looking ahead to the future, but I hope Stewart won't follow in the footsteps of Taylor Lautner, when it comes to starring in a non-Twilight film, because Abduction was awful. This trailer looks pretty good, and I will take on chance on this next year.

Being Flynn

During his twenties, a young man works at various homeless shelters in Boston, where he often intersects with his brilliant but troubled father.

Being Flynn doesn't have an official release date yet, but this film will hit theaters in 2012.

The casts look pretty solid here, but this trailer really doesn't excite me. Being Flynn just looks like another sappy and forgettable drama, but I guess this could be a decent enough film. This film won't receive too much attention next year, but I might take a chance on Being Flynn.

Mirror, Mirror

Release Date: March 16, 2012

A dark twist on the classic fairy tale, in which Snow White and the seven dwarfs look to reclaim their destroyed kingdom.

Another Snow White film? Really?

I've never been a huge fan of Julia Roberts. I enjoyed her performances in Erin Brockovich and Pretty Woman, but I've always thought she was slightly overrated as an actress. As far Lily Collins (Snow White) goes, I can't say I know too much about her, because I've only seen one of her films. She wasn't bad as Taylor Lautner's love interest/girlfriend, but her performance didn't help elevate that film in any way. Although, Abduction was doomed for failure from the start, and she really wasn't the main problem in that film.

Mirror, Mirror could be an entertaining film, and there should be a good amount of humor here. The Snow White story has been done to death, but Mirror, Mirror could be one of the more enjoyable versions.

Another Happy Day

Red Band Trailer

A wedding at her parents' Annapolis estate hurls high-strung Lynn into the center of touchy family dynamics.

This film has already received numerous release dates, but Another Happy Day will receive another limited release in the US on November 18, but this release is for New York, New York and Los Angeles, California only.

Kate Bosworth is one of my favorite actresses, but this trailer doesn't do anything for me. Another Happy Day looks like one huge clusterfuck, and this angry drama about the dysfunctional family looks horrible. The cast looks decent enough, but I'm still on the fence right now. I might take a chance on this somewhere down the line, but this trailer still looks awful.

Safe

Release Date: April 27, 2012

A former elite agent takes on a two-tier mission: rescue a Chinese girl who's been abducted by the Triads, then use a safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC officials, and the Triads themselves.

Jason Statham usually delivers as the lead man in an action/thriller, and I do want to take a chance on Safe. This film should feature a good amount of thrilling action scenes, and Statham will be the ass-kicking hero here. The story for this film sounds decent enough, Safe should deliver, and I do want to take a chance on this next year.

And here's the most recent trailer for Haywire:

Gone

Release Date: February 24, 2012

The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister's bed empty. She's convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, she sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

Eh, I like Amanda Seyfried, but this trailer doesn't do anything for me. Gone looks like one of those forgettable straight-to-video thriller flicks, and this story doesn't sound too enticing. Yeah, I get it, Seyfried wants to save her sister, she's all alone, and she goes on this lone mission to find her, but the police don't want to help her? They don't believe her? Maybe the police are behind some kind of coverup, but the "we don't want to help you" stuff doesn't make too much sense. Still, I might give Gone a try, when it hits theaters next year.

Donovan's Echo

"Once a brilliant mathematician, Donovan Matheson (Danny Glover) has been an outcast since an accident that killed his wife and daughter three decades ago for which he blames himself. He finally returns home as the tragic event’s 30th anniversary approaches and begins discovering similarities to what had happened to him in the past. Convinced history is repeating itself, Donovan risks everything to save an unsuspecting family from the same tragic fate."

I couldn't find a release date for Donovan's Echo, but this film could receive a straight-to-video release next year.

Danny Glover has always been one of the more reliable actors in Hollywood. He usually delivers solid performances, and he doesn't have too many stinkers on his resumé. Donovan's Echo does feature a unique and mysterious story, and Glover doesn't look bad as the lead man here. I want to take a chance on this film, and I will watch Donovan's Echo, if I can find it.
