It is well documented that Thesz had poor peripheral vision. A move like Trouble in Paradise could be hit from multiple directions without much opportunity for Thesz for brace himself for impact. Kofi's flexibility on the other hand would give him many opportunities to free himself from Thesz'zzzzs offense. Shocking upset in favor of Kofi.

While Lou does have that excellent amateur wrestling background and is commonly referred to as quite possibly the greatest professional wrestler ever, the things that are working against him here are his total hip replacement that he actually wrestled with and and the fact that he simply cannot handle the Power of Positivity. My vote hereby goes to Kofi. And this is coming from a guy who would vote Hornswoggle over Andre the Giant just for the hell of it.

This. Kofi couldn't even get a legitimate shot at a world title when there were two belts and no one else worthy of winning them. Thesz is a legend that will be revered for as long as wrestling is around, while Kofi will be forgotten not long after he retires.

If Randy Orton wasn't a fucking shit head, Kofi would have been a world champion. You don't get to hold 12 different WWE titles without being something special, and Kofi is just that.

Plus this would be an unfair fight with Big E and Xavier running interference. This will be no walk to Thesz.

All those tag titles that Kofi has built up are in a tag division that is weaker than it ever has been. And, if any of those singles title reigns were worth anything, he would have gotten a real chance at one of the top belts. He was in the Elimination Chamber, and some multi-man matches, but purely so he could do high spots and get out of the way for the finish.

Kofi is fun to watch...sometimes...but he's just not in the same league against someone like Thesz. Kofi's career has been made by losing to guys who are on their way to the top.

I admire Yaz's efforts, but no. Thesz is a much superior worker to Kingston in every way imaginable. That being said, Kingston could and probably should be so much more, he just hasn't been. He is the best midcarder of the last 10 years, but Thesz may well be the best main event wrestler of the last 100.

I'm not going to put in a whole lot of effort into this one because it's pretty obvious that Thesz wins. He was one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time. Kofi is entertaining as part of the New Day, and they are one of my favorite parts of the show. But it isn't enough. And to anyone else taking this tournament seriously, they know it's not enough.

Kofi is part of a team that is always looking out for eachother in order to win a match. Rules state that The New Day would be allowed at ringside here & anyone that thinks they would not be a factor that leads to a win- has clearly not been paying attention to WWE television.


Yes, Thesz is a badass. A legend for good reason. He is also human & would be distracted by Francesca so much that he would probably break her in half. While Xavier is screaming at the ref while holding her broken body, Big E and Kofi go to work. The rest is as recorded history will show to be fact. Kofi picks up a win because Thesz has no friends & being lonely is not only booty, but it makes you a loser.

Thesz should win this one, even if we're in the Cena region. The man invented wrestling moves like the Thesz Press and the STF, the original powerbomb and the German Suplex (wiki).

He's in 7 different Hall of Fames and has held 31 different championships! He did that in an era where it wasn't so easy to be a wrestling champion.

How can Kofi walk through that man? He can't. Lou wins.

Kofi can have a strong run with the New Day in the Tag Team WZ Tournament. (There was one, wasn't there?)

Thesz is one of the-if not the-greatest wrestlers of all-time, in any promotion. Kingston isn't even one of the best wrestlers of his time in his current promotion. This took about thirty seconds to write and the match wouldn't take much longer than that.

Thesz beats Kingston in a Saturday morning Superstars-type squash.

I... really really want to vote Kofi on this one, but I won't.

If Kofi Kingston ever fought Lou Thesz, I would be 100% on Kofi's side in terms of boos and cheers. But realistically; Lou would break Kofi in half if he got out of line, and this would just be a way to show Lou's future opponents that he can adapt to any fighting style.

This would be amazingly entertaining, and end mercifully with Lou winning. I really hope I'm wrong on this, but my vote is for Lou Thesz.

I'll remind everyone that Kingston can be a tough customer in the ring as well. He once gave Miz a concussion when he kicked him too hard with Trouble in Paradise.

I hate this line of thinking. If I can be real for a minute, I hate when people suggest that Wrestler A is better than Wrestler B because Wrestler A would legit kick his ass and could shoot on him.

It gets brought up at least once a year, usually by guys who like to dick wag about their old school knowledge, that guys like Thesz would just shoot on a guy like Kofi for his flippy shit. If you legit shoot on a guy, that makes you an asshole and an unfit professional. Its why Perry Saturn ended up calling a mop his girlfriend. I don't care how much of a shooter a guy was, this isn't a shoot tournament, it is a pro wrestling tournament. In pro wrestling, you protecting your opponent is your number one job. That's why a guy as talented as Teddy Hart can't find consistent work because he goes into the business for himself too often.

If we had a shoot fighting tournament, we could just argue between Brock and Josh Barnett each year.

I don't like to vote for guys that have to rely on interference to win. If you can't justify a win for your guy without relying on others you should probably vote for the other guy. I'm not saying everything has to be squeaky clean. If a wrestler is usually successful in breaking the rules so be it, but I need something better than strength in numbers to put an inferior wrestler over. Just my thought.

The fact that the voting, right now, is 13-7, is absurd. Kofi should not be that close to Thesz. I can see him getting some votes because of his current shtick, but as Brain said, it's hard to vote for a guy who would need help and can't win it one-on-one. Thesz should be running away with this one.

I most certainly don't pretend to hold a candle to anyone's level of old school knowledge, and my well documented penis envy has nothing to do with any of this. It's a little difficult to argue on behalf of voting for Lou Thesz without citing an aspect of his entirely "old school" career.

I'm weighing a lot of factors here, so please don't let one of my more obtuse statements fool you. I'm a Kofi mark, obviously not as much as you but then that's not saying much.

Due to what's very likely to be bad booking, Kofi hasn't proven to me that he's where he needs to be to beat a guy like Lou Thesz. Yes, this is coming from the guy who railed on endlessly that Earthquake should beat John Cena and I realize I'll never be fully absolved for doing that.

I admire your passion, but I'm not ashamed for voting for Lou Thesz.
