You favourite year since the Attitude era?

ulimate123

Prof Ulti at work as usual....
Well for me its certainly a tie between 2003 and......2005 :smashfreakB:. 2003 had some awesome feuds with the like of Angle/lesnar, Hogan/Mcmahon, 'Taker/HHH, The Rock/HHH, Goldberg/HHH, Kanes dominance of RAW, 'Taker/Cena and the age of evolution which I loved, the PPV's were all very consistent which is hard to say about noadays PPVs.

Now many people overlook 2005 but it was IMO the last great year WWE had. It had some awesome build up for PPV's which hardly ever happens today unless its Wrestlemania. The feuds were awesome which included: Angle/Michaels, Batista/HHH, Jericho/Cena, Orton/'Taker, Guerrero/Batista, Hogan/Michaels, Mysterio/Guerrero, Edge/Matt Hardy and my one of my favourite feud of post-attitude era: SD! vs RAW!!!!

So whats yours?

Undertaker and HHH didn't feud in 2003, neither did the Rock and HHH.

I digress.

My favorite year since would probably be 2008 to be quite honest with you. The next generation has been developed and the WWE seems like they started to hit their stride again. Jericho/HBK was amazing as well.

I would have to Agree with you, 2003-2005, I don't think there has been better storylines since then honestly, theres been a few good ones lately, Orton/Taker was one of my favourite storylines, and of course Evolution was great, I would love to See a Edge and Christian Storyline, or even better, Have Jeff and Christian Team against Matt and Edge that would be awesome

To be honest, it's 2009 considering how good the year has been so far. With the WWE focusing on Orton, who's just become so good at being the heel, it's just become a joy to watch once again.

I have great memories of 2004, with Eddie and Benoit as champions. But I also gotta remember that 2004 has Lesnar vs Goldberg and JBL's WWE title reign.

2002 was ok, the title changed hands a bit too much though. But we did get to see The Rock at his prime before he left for good, and we saw him against Hogan, which was unforgettable.

2003 wasn't a very good year... Although I liked it when Kane returned, and he was better than ever. But that was also the year the HHH refused to let go of the title. And Goldberg came to the WWE, which ended up being one big pile of pointless...

2005 was the year of the proverbial torch-passing, with guys like Cena, Batista, Edge and Orton becoming big stars during this time. But Cena and Batista were somewhat forced upon us which made the shows less enjoyable.

I missed 2006 and 2007, due to sheer boredom of seeing Cena on top. I'm not a Cena hater, but it's still very possible to get too much of him. But when I heard he was injured, I decided to flick back on WWE, and catch the road to WM of 2008. Though Cena came back at the rumble, I kept watching cause the road to mania was keeping me entertained. The build up of Flair's retirement, Edge as a big star, making people think he could end Undertaker's streak, and Orton as a damn fine WWE champion.

But despite only being almost 3 months into the year, i'm really liking this one so far.

Undertaker and HHH didn't feud in 2003, neither did the Rock and HHH.

He may be thinking of Spring 2002, cause that's when most of those feuds happened... Although, I don't even think Rock feuded with HHH after the invasion...
Either way, despite all the big guys holding the Undisputed title, with it then going to Lesnar, I didn't like that year.

hmmm 2002 and 2003.
2002 was great. HHH`s return as well as HBK. Taker was well used (specially compared to 2001). Some memorable matches(Taker-Brock, triple threat at vengeance). Some great Rock awesomeness. Too bad Austin downfall was in here ...sucks he left. :(
2003 was great too. Austin was back for a moment, wrestlemania was great (better than 02). Too bad the brought brand only PPVs tho...that`s what started ruining things.First RAW PPV was a mess (bad blood) while Smack Down did brought some pretty good ppvs. Survivor Series was the PPV of the year.

04-08 has been pretty dull as far as I am concerned. Some strong storylines here and there but lots of bad one (dudleys vs Taker...good god). Some really bad PPV and the rise of superstars I really didn`t want to see on top. (well Im not talking Cena (not just him :D here.....how in the hell JBL had such a run as world champ is beyond me). Add to that the departure/deaths of many of my favorites (Austin, Rock,Angle, Eddie, Benoit, Booker T and so on) I got disinterested and was no longer the huge fan I once was...far from it.

09-No doubt, pretty good start. I`m actually excited about the upcoming WM..which is something I wouldn`t have expected some time back. This improvement has a LOT to do with the Randy Orton.

I liked 2008. It featured a year long quest for Jeff Hardy that was well executed. It started with his losing a WWE title match and saw him in the main event picture all year. He feuded with HHH and Edge all year long, and finally won it at the end of the year. He had his suspension, but they used it to further the story. The mystery attacks added gusto to the feud. The only problem with this feud is that Matt was supposedly attacking him before he won, then celebrating with him after he won, then teaming with him with both as champs, then turning on him. Other than that small inconsistency, Jeff Hardy had a great year leading WWE. Major injuries rearranged some stories, but HHH and Orton put on a great show at the PPV where they fought twice (I forgot the name). Edge and Undertaker and Undertaker and Batista put on great Smackdown matches. John Cena continued to be hated and still put on great matches. The draft shook everything up and led to amazing feuds between Cena and Batista and HBK and Jericho.

Miz and Morrison had a great year regularly STARRING on all three shows. CM Punk was the surprise of the year, and Kofi Kingston went from obscurity to star. Evan Bourne came on like a house of fire. Matt Hardy put on several solid matches.

last year was the best because flair retiring jericho/ shawn feud the Edge/Undertaker feud. Jeff hardy finaly winning the tittle. Cm punk winning the world heavy wieght title John cena return at royal rumble. Edge surprise return at surivor series.

I really enjoyed 2006. RVD winning the title, short lived as it was, ECW coming back and actually being a good show for a bit, Edge and Cena's fued was great, return of DX, CM Punk debuting on WWE TV, great Wrestlemania, Edge's first World Title Win, ECW One Night Stand 2, I could keep going.

I think my second favorite would have to be 2003. With Austin's Last Match, Goldberg finally coming to WWE (which even though it only lasted a year, I enjoyed it), The Rock Concert, Hogan v.s Mcmahon, Zach Gowen v.s. Mcmahon, and Kane v.s. Shane, great fued.

Thanks

2008 was my faveourite year since the Attitude era because it was the evolution of Chris Jericho's mega heel character and we saw Chris Jericho win 3 championships. 1 Intercontinental and 2 World Heavyweight Championships, also had an awesome feud with Shawn Michaels which was entertaining from start to finish with lots of memorable moments (Smashing his head in the Jeritron etc.). Also the Edge/Undertaker program was interesting aswell and they had several great encounters throughout the year. Jeff Hardy had made it to the top of the mountain that year aswell and we also saw the beginning of Priceless/Legacy and some other young ones like Kofi and Evan Bourne who although is injured, is still pretty over. Not a bad year overall I would say, pretty good.

The only things that stick out in my mind were ONS 05' and 06' they were the best shows in years, but to me the WWE has been lacking since we lost Eddie and Benoit. RVD winning the world/ECW belts was great and his match with Cena at ONS was the only time I've ever been entertained by cena, the ECW crowd made him up his game so much he was actually very good.

For me, it was, without a doubt, 2004. Five years have passed since then, but I still remember all of the great moments including:
- Chris Benoit's emotional WHC win at WMXX and his reign that resulted

- Eddie Guerrero's WWE tile win and reign

- The start of JBL's historic reign

- The return of deadman Undertaker

- An awesome hardcore match between Randy Orton and Mick Foley

- Orton's historic title win

- Debuts of big names like Eugene and Carlito

- Edge's heel turn

I consider the attitude era to have ended at Wrestlemania 2001, so since then:

2002 - The NWO returning could have been huge, but apart from Rock-Hogan at Mania, it was a huge disappointment. The good points of the year were Lesnar winning the title then his hell in a cell with Undertaker, also Smackdown was great from summer 02-onwards with Lesnar as champion and Angle, Benoit, Eddie, Edge, Rey etc having great matches every week, but Raw was at it's lowest point in recent memory in 02. Overall, this wasn't a very good year year IMO.

2003 - I really liked this year, I know people didn't like Goldberg's run in WWE, but I was happy to see him there, but I agree he should have been booked better, he should have won the title in that elimination chamber when the crowd was going crazy. All of the big PPV's were great, especially Mania, Summerslam & Survivor Series. Rock's heel turn, although short, was great & Cena was getting over huge back when he was allowed to be more edgy.

2004 - This was a really bad year, it had some great individual moments (Benoit & Eddie winning titles) but for the most part WWE sucked with JBL as champion most of the year and just not that many memorable matches.

2005 - I think WWE really improved, with Cena & Batista taking over as the top 2 guys, things were fresh & exciting, Batista's whole storyline of breaking away from Evolution then winning the belt was one of the best booked storylines in years, plus you had Angle-Michaels, Cena-Jericho and other really good feuds.

2006 - Decent year, not as good as 05, Cena & Edge's feud was really good, but the return of ECW & DX was a letdown.

2007 - Undertaker & Batista's matches were the best things from this year, plus Orton finally getting a decent title run, another good year.

2008 - I thought last year was really good, virtually every one of WWE's PPV's were great in terms of match quality, lots of surprises (Cena winning the Rumble, Punk winning the title, Hardy's huge push) & 2 great feuds with Jericho-Michaels & Undertaker-Edge.

I think WWE has been really good for the past year or so, despite all the criticism it gets, but I think overall my favorite year overall since the attitude era ended was 2003, which was then followed by the worst year I think in 04.

I think 2008 and 2009 are the best years because of all the surprises and excellent feuds and PPV

Surprises: Cena's return at the Royal Rumble, Big Show Returning, CM Punk and Jeff Hardy winning their first world heavyweight championship and WWE Championships (the start of many for both),Draft night, Matt turning on Jeff, and Christian's unexpected return on ECW etc.

2002 was the best. rock vs hogan was a classic. return of nwo. hogan vs angle. cant forget guys like cena, orton, lesnar, batuista, and rey all made there debuts that year. thats what makes 2002 so special

for me it was 03 to mid 2004.... we saw the rise and dominance of evolution in full force until triple H took the title from randy and im a huge triple h fan but thing went stal from there they picked up for a little bit for the hhh batista feud and then the decline came...... then i have liked since armageddon 2007 up until this point.... we ve seen great matches, the rise of jeff hardy, edge vs taker, triple h 13 times ........ and much more

I have to go with 2002 simply because of the nWo being there. The original three guys there was pretty cool. Watching all of the stunts that they pulled was amazing to watch.

2009

Im going to say this year. the wwe roster is abundant of talent. All has blossomed now. Since Dec08 the storyline has been good and ive never been hooked like this since 95-2001. Ratings have been on a rise which is telling you how vastly the product has improved. The way i see it, this years WM will be top notch from start to finish and may end up being one of those rare ppv's where u have a very solid card top to bottom. I dont have any favourites yet apart from the SD Elimination chamber - but i like the way 2009 is shaping to be

2004-2005. after the second draft when RVD went to smackdown along with the dudleys and booker t. jbl's title reign was great and smackdown had some of the best mixed talent and matches back then while raw had some good storylines with evolution, kane, and edge vs matt hardy. smackdown had eddy geurro, jbl , kurt angle, undertaker, john cena, rey mysterio, big show, rvd, booker t, dudleys, i mean thats like the best mixed group of wrestlers i could come up with.

2002-2006 were the best years WWE had since The Attitude Era as we had Rock vs Hogan, Brock Lesnar in WWE, Eddie & Benoit at the top of the mountain, Evolution forming, Orton becoming the youngest champion, RVD finally becoming world champion, Edge's heel turn & much more that kept me excited during that time.
