Lee

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
Friend of mine (on FB of course): Yay I'm getting baptised tomorrow

Goth guy with profile pic of him on BMX: You do realise god is fictional, just a bloke out of a book like Santa Claus or Rupert bear

Lee: I'm glad you pointed that out, no one ever has before. Thanks for that.

I love the assumption that Christians base their life off something that's written down in a book. If that truly was the case I'd have topped myself a long time ago.

Well that's just arseholish. I mean I don't believe in god, but saying that him being in the Bible makes him as fictional as Rupert the Bear is just stupid.

Exactly, I was more offended that he reffered to him as Rupert Bear. People as whole are idiots he's the sort of person who puts down anyone who has a religion whilst complaining that religion people are pushing their ideals down his throat. Hypocrite.

Coco stop trolling me.

You do realise that by commiting suicide you would have had an automatic one way trip to hell?

Congrats on the Baptism though, hope it goes well.

I got baptised about 7 years ago. That was a friend of mines status.

Is Samson in hell? He commited suicide.

Is Samson in hell? He commited suicide.

Some might argue, "What about Samson? He committed suicide." Samson's "suicide" was actually an act of war, as he killed three thousand Philistines in his vengeance upon them (Judges 16:28-30). He died in his effort to kill others, as he said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" (Judges 16:30). It was not, as a typical suicide of our day, because of a lack of hope, or a deranged mind. He died with the Philistines to "take vengeance on the Philistines" for his two eyes (Judges 16:28). Plus, this was the only choice he had, to kill them as he did.

Typical suicidal people today are those who have no hope, and they are thus not in Christ (Ephesians 2:12; 1 Peter 1:3; 3:15), or they have been moved away from the hope of the gospel and are thus lost (Colossians 1:21-23). Those with deranged minds, or who "might have a mental breakdown," are those who do not have a sound mind and are therefore not in Christ (Isaiah 26:3; 2 Timothy 1:7). These people will end up in hell if they die in such a state. Such people are not saved.

Wow someone's missed the point of the Bible. Depression's an illness, would God punish someone for being ill?

Give me a Bible passage where God condemns anyone with depression. Let alone telll me where it says in the Bible that people who commit suicide go to hell.

No, but I suppose he could be the one who gave the person depression for some reason (and ours is not to reason why).

Give me a point in history where God actually spoke.

Depends on your definition of "spoke". But I'll go with Emperor Constantine the Great. Man converted an empire to Christianity because he saw a vision of God. i.e. God comunicated to him.

Lee,

Read Love Wins by Rob Bell. Not sure if it's available in the UK, but it's tits.

Amazon will probably have it, Rob Bell's Mars Hill church isn't he? I did my own Bible study into christians and depression and biblically God doesn't have a problem with it so I don't get with Christians do (have a problem with other christians having depression).

Shattered, kindly stop posting in threads about religion, you're giving atheism a bad name like bible bashing morons give christianity a bad name.

What exactly did I do? Asking questions isn't a vicious attack.

On a somewhat related note, I am sick of religious people complaining about people [hopefully respectfully] disagreeing with their views just because they personally think they are not one to shove it in others faces. Even if you do actually keep it to yourself (note there is a big difference between keeping it to yourself and simply not preaching to others), your affiliation with various denominations empowers the leaders of your faith that act quite differently. Part of the reason I am not one for labels in general, including atheist.

Also I think you mean "bible thumping" or what you said makes even less sense.

Hmm, sure are alot of deleted posts in this thread for no discernible reason. I don't think anyone here is trying to troll you Lee.

The guy's a douche, obviously. Anyone involved in BMX usually is.

Doesn't make the construct of "God" as we know it as humans true either though.

the construct of "God" as we know it as humans

This is all I was getting at when apparently remix thinks I was doing some heinous activity.

Probably the main reason that generally speaking I find the need to try and back faith up with logic to be an exercise in the absurd.

No, but I'm definitely his type.

You're a muscled up fratboy jock?

The scary thing here? Sidious used to actually PM me to try and purge all of his homosexual feelings to me because I'd identified myself as bisexual to him beforehand. It got REALLY fucking creepy after awhile, he would send me links and shit to like gay wrestling sites...and I'm just like "Ahh, that's nice, whatever", move along.

Man Sid was creepy. I should look into my PM box to see if I can find some of the creepy shit he used to PM me. I thought I remembered him saying something about having the hots for Norcal and IC.

God cannot be proven or disproven, and if he talked to someone, how would you know it was god and not a mere delusion? It's just the sort of stupid question that annoys me.

I don't believe in God and I find that there are obnoxious people on either side of the "does god exist?" fence. People who use "prove God exists" questions or do science wrong irritate me.

Also I think you mean "bible thumping" or what you said makes even less sense.

No, I meant bible bashing see here.
