How come John Cena isn't an option?
While I do not like Kurt Angle nor feel he deserves all what he is being given due to poor choices (massive ego, DUI, drug problems, etc), I really see him as Triple H in a way. Like Hunter, Kurt Angle is a great performer in the ring and on the mic but some people are lucky to get whatever they ask for and have it all handed to them within a heart beat just to feed their "egos" which it's no secret that I do not approve of that when outside the ring they are miserable people that needs help (more of a reference to Kurt Angle).
If the option was there, I would go with Cena. There's no question indeed he is a hard worker. Unlike many champions in the past (Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Triple H, etc), John Cena can maintain a true positive role model to many people, stay true and not let his ego hold him down outside the ring. The reason I use the term "ego" is because that's what happens with many top level talent. In rare occasions can a champion be able to work every night and still be a positive role model off the camera (unlike Hulk Hogan's training, prayers, no drugs, vitamins and such). But that's not the main point here at all.
Cena's title reign brought meaning to the WWE championship as well as the unpredictability. Maybe some are used to seeing a title change at every PPV ****ing the belt constantly, however I like it the old school way. A title change should occur out of nowhere on a rare occasion which would actually mean something. I never hear anyone on the forums and such complaining about Bruno Sammartino's title reign or Bob Backlund's 6 year reign which makes Cena's reign look like nothing. But like I said, it was very unpredictable. People assumed that Cena's reign went on so long that at "this PPV" or "that PPV" Cena will officially drop the belt. I mean hell, it seemed to me that almost EVERYONE was expecting Shawn Michaels to win the title at WrestleMania, which got many people in shock. It created heat and got people talking which, in my opinion, is brilliant (yes, same applies to Kurt Angle in TNA). While I do admit there are better performers than John Cena, at the same time he is not the worst. At almost every PPV his matches are actually solid IMO. Yes, I did say he is not the best wrestler, but that doesn't indicate he's a bad wrestler.
