WWE SummerSlam - Randy Orton VS Rusev

Following his win over Chad Gable in an entertaining match, Rusev cut a promo saying that he was promised competition, attempting to gloss over the fact that his loss to Cena in a flag match meant nothing and that Gable came pretty close to beating him. Rusev stated he wanted a match for SummerSlam and Randy Orton's music hit, Orton cut a promo and ultimately delivered an RKO.

As of right now, this is the only match on the card that I have no real interest in. I suspect that it'll be a slow, plodding affair that culminates with Rusev eating an RKO and losing. Personally, I hope the match ends up on the kickoff show, but I think Orton's presence makes it pretty unlikely.

It's apparent they had no concrete plans for Rusev upon his return. They certainly don't need him on Smackdown right now so why not hold him off TV for a bit longer?

Regardless, I like Rusev so I hope he decimates Orton. Who I've read will be taking some time off shortly.

One word to describe this match- yawn! Both talents are stale. This match does nothing for me. I'll be at the show so this will be my bathroom break.

I have very little hope of Rusev winning here, but I would love to see him get the win and go on to feud with AJ Styles for the u.s championship.
With that said...Orton is winning at Summerslam.
Both competitor last feuds were lackluster, and I don't see this thrown together match being any different.

Probably going to last about 5 minutes, Orton will win. It's the same as the Sheamus feud from 2015. I'd be surprised if this turns out to be entertaining in the long run.

Sounds like it will be a very boring match. Rusev's match with Gable fucking rocked though, that was Summerslam worthy right there. Randy just hasn't seemed like he's given a shit since before that House of Horrors match and it's been a lackluster few months for him with his crappy matches against Bray and Jinder, which makes me not excited to see him wrestle.

Rusev in the united states picture against AJ Styles would be awesome though. I get a Vader vs Shawn vibe when I think of that match. Alas WWE has to run feuds into the ground like AJ and Owens who have been fighting since what May? I could see Rusev and Orton going at least to Survivor Series based on how many repetitive matches there have been since the brand split.

I saw this coming a mile away to be honest, because it's apparent that they have no idea what to do with either guy and they're just sort of throwing them together and hoping it gauges some interest. Randy Orton absolutely bores me to death as a babyface. They should've had Mahal and the Singh brothers decimate Orton at Battleground and given him some time off. Figure out something interesting for him and bring him back in a month or so.

As for Summerslam, Rusev should go over there's no question about it. Will they get it right? Who the hell knows. I think, but wouldn't bet a dime on it, that Rusev will win and then go into a program with Styles for the US Title. Rusev should also be put back with Lana, who has no business in the ring as a wrestler, but that's a whole other story.
