#giveswagsachance Jack Swagger reminds me of another guy who wrestled in a singlet and became irrelevant after once main eventing PPVs. Rob Van Dam got hurt in 2004/2005 and disappeared from WWE TV. That and they've both had issues with pot and the law.
RVD wasn't being pushed before that injury either. He held the tag titles with Mysterio and virtually went unused on Smackdown prior to getting hurt. Here's a guy that main evented a PPVs against Stone Cold and Angle and Triple H.
Swagger got his punishment. They completely buried him through 2016. People cry burial when wrestlers lose a match, but Swagger is the definition of buried. Left off TV working only Main Event and Superstars with your merch all but dried up.
Here's a guy that you put MITB on, you put the World Title on when he wasn't over or ready, so do you really abandon him?
Smackdown Live is weak on midcard babyfaces at best. They could salvage Jack Swagger from the ground they put him in. He's a collegiate wrestler who has a catch phrase that's over like crazy despite his absence in irrelevance.
I'm not sure what the non-tap was supposed to mean? All it did was make the referee look like a moron. It doesn't make Swagger or Corbin look strong. A better ending would have been Corbin tapping, then blaming it on reaching for the rope. That would have been the heel thing to do. Instead Corbin is booked like a babyface here, I don't get it? I guess this sets up their No Mercy match, which as far as any fan should be concerned was set up when Swags signed with Smackdown and confronted Corbin.
I fear a long feud is in the cards here, although one big match between the two should be enough. Corbin is young, and a divisive loss to Swagger will not affect his heat at all. Swagger on the other hand should be given the opportunity to shine in the midcard, and the win here just makes total sense. If it has to be a roll up or something dumb to protect Corbin, fine. Let's just avoid a screwy finish here.
