WWE Network Special in Honolulu, Hawaii

Getting Noticed By Management
Not like it's going to happen, but I feel like as somebody who goes there at least once every year, Honolulu is a city that is overlooked by WWE, and very rarely does WWE go there, and when they do, it's just as big of a deal, if not bigger, as when they go to Madison Square Garden. And the next time they go (if ever again), I think it would have to be a Network special and I would throw in some NXT guys in matches also.

- Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy vs The New Day vs The Usos vs Blake and Murphy vs The Vaudevillains vs Prime Time Players vs The Lucha Dragons vs The Dudleys in a 8 Team TLC Match

- Cesaro vs Chris Jericho

- Rhyno vs Seth Rollins

- Bayley vs Paige vs Charlotte vs Sasha Banks

- Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar (then immediately after, a few suplexes and an F5 to Luke Harper and Braun Strowman)

- Sami Zayn vs Randy Orton

and the main event

- Samoa Joe vs John Cena

Despite all the drawbacks involved in going such as the time difference and the travel, do I think it's worth it to go cater to the group of fans out there? Yes.

You CLEARLY do not want a WWE Network Special, you want an NXT Takeover event with a few WWE guys thrown in.

It's very possible you'll get one or the other, with the Network they're running more shows in different markets now.

That is just out of control.

But I agree with it looking like you want a takeover event. Or a Brock Lesnar live special. I can guarantee you wouldnt get a card like that for a wwe raw, smackdown or PPV.

What I want is for WWE to stop ignoring certain places in this world and go do shows there every once in a while. Hawaiians provide a great crowd as shown in this video, and are a roudy bunch that appreciate live wrestling largely because of how they rarely get to see it.

Yeah, that's the feeling that I get.

An NXT Takeover special is fine, but a cross company show isn't gonna happen right now. The only shot some sort of roster wars card goes down is if NXT continues to grow, though all signs seem to suggest it will. NXT is becoming bigger than simply WWE's developmental territory, though it's primary goal is still to help produce wrestlers to make it to the main roster and that objective is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE in 5 years or so, this is something that could go down, but not right now. From the perspective of WWE management, and rightly so, the main roster is & always should be the primary objective because that's where the money is generated.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy vs The New Day vs The Usos vs Blake and Murphy vs The Vaudevillains vs Prime Time Players vs The Lucha Dragons vs The Dudleys in a 8 Team TLC Match - I think this is too many teams. There'd be so much going on during the match between these competitors that it's just too much to cover. Whittle it down to just 3 or 4 teams and it'll be still be the chaotic spotfest you'd be hoping for, but a controlled chaos that isn't a clusterfuck waiting to happen.

Cesaro vs Chris Jericho - This could be a fun match, though I'd be more likely to put Jericho up against a heel, someone for fans to root against.

Rhyno vs Seth Rollins - This would be a waste of Seth Rollins. Rhyno is a nobody in the grand scheme of things; his glory days were in ECW 15+ years ago and he's milked it for all he can, but this guy shouldn't be against the guy who's both WWE World and United States Champion. Something that'd draw, more than likely, would be a champ vs. champ match with Rollins taking on Finn Balor. It strikes me as extremely weird that every other NXT champ is involved with this fantasy card except the guy carrying NXT's main event title, which should probably close out the show.

Bayley vs Paige vs Charlotte vs Sasha Banks - As Paige & Charlotte are currently allies, this doesn't make sense really. Bayley & Sasha tore the house down at the Brooklyn Takeover special, just give them 30 minutes or so and watch them do it again.

Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar (then immediately after, a few suplexes and an F5 to Luke Harper and Braun Strowman) - So, you want to see Brock Lesnar decimate the entire Wyatt Family and obliterate any momentum they have? Bray Wyatt still hasn't completely recovered from the questionable booking he got during his feud with Cena, so you want to set him back even more? No...just...just no. Feed Lesnar a buncha jobbers all at once like Zack Ryder, R-Truth, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas & Fandango and let him decimate those guys. People will still get the thrill of seeing Lesnar crush a buncha guys.

Sami Zayn vs Randy Orton - Zayn's a talented guy, but I have to question his ability to stay healthy. Much as we've seen with Daniel Bryan, unfortunately, Zayn looks to have become severely injury prone as of late and I'll be extremely surprised if there aren't questions among WWE management about his potential future with the company.

and the main event

Samoa Joe vs John Cena - For some reason, this match doesn't interest me all that much. It may very well be one of those things where it's an absolutely awesome match that I wasn't expecting much from. I wouldn't put it as the main event though.

If, by some miracle, this card did go down, the downside would a strong likelihood that most of the main roster talent pull out a win. The perception of management, and some fans at that, is that NXT is the "minor leagues", comparatively speaking. For instance, I don't see the NXT Champion defeating the current WWE World & United States Champion, nor do I see Samoa Joe going over John Cena in their first bout, at least not without Joe being on the main roster.

The problem is, some guys I can't think of opponents for. With the tag teams, having them all have separate tag matches might take too much time up, so throwing them all together would be much simpler so everybody gets exposure. Cesaro and Jericho would clearly be a Match of the Night and I know people would enjoy it. Rollins? I really didn't know who to put him against and I know as a booker that I would want him on this card, but I wasn't sure who, but now that you mention it. Balor would be better. And I knew that as WWE going to Honolulu would be a big deal, that Lesnar needed to be on the card, so I picked Bray. I wouldn't make it a full on two and a half minute squash match. Yeah, I would for sure have Lesnar win, but I'd at least let Bray get his Sister Abigail and a near fall in, and for entertainment and meme purposes, do his spider walk while then Lesnar just sits there and laughs at him.
Orton still has it in him to pull off good matches and having him in with Sami Zayn could be fun to watch, same with Samoa Joe vs John Cena.

Why should all those teams get exposure? Not every team or Superstar needs to be shoved onto the card. There's always a second live event going on somewhere else the same night.

This isn't even a remotely realistic card, it's a fantasy WWE vs. NXT PPV.

The match card looks great except for Brock Lesnar to decimate the Wyatt family but why would a WWE network special should have a card which is close to Summerslam? They just need to focus on one of the match. Just like how the entire focus on the Japan Sumo hall was on Kevin Owens vs Finn Balor. That would be more logical. Even then it's a WWE network special, it's merely an house show nonetheless. So think about it made.

Cheers!!

It's an incredibly unrealistic match card for a non major market event. I understand your point though in wishing for a televised special.

You are more likely to get a house show card with a few extras thrown in, maybe a couple of title defenses etc.

I can honestly say ive never thought about the lack of WWE shows in Honolulu,
It looks like a lovely place to go so I'm sure the wrestlers wont mind, WWE is still a business though so I guess if their not making enough money there compared to their spending expenses, If they made loads every visit I imagine they would be there reguarly.
I wouldn't mind watching a Hawaii themed network special though if they done it and seeing as they don't visit often they should make up for it with an extra good card.

A themed show would work, but might also be seen as too WCW-like. Bear in mind that we are only NOW getting a UK proper show after many years, that's a Takeover... but we still have the 2nd highest gate ever... so while there are obvious things WWE could do (Guest hosts the Hawaii Five-O cast, the Rock in attendance etc) if they can't muster the will to do that many big shows in guaranteed draw markets like the UK, then why would they in Hawaii?

why would they in Hawaii?

Because there are wrestling fans there, but a very isolated and overlooked group of them according to the mindsets of WWE, TNA, etc. And what I feel bad about is that the fans there rarely get to see professional wrestling live and in person. I understand that it's not a guaranteed draw market, but sooner or later, it would be good of them to go cater to the fans out there and perform. And for Network specials, I think they should reserve those for the Tokyos, the MSGs, and other places they don't normally go to, like Honolulu.

Doesn`t the WWE go to Australia and the Far East at least twice a year. There is no reason they can`t make a stop over in Honolulu and put on a shot. Even do a RAW from there, on their way. That way the roster would get a break from a 22 hour flight, and it would kill two birds with one stone.

Leave half the roster to tape SD on Tuesday, and the other half continue onto Toyko or Sydney the next day. That way Hawaii would get at least two shows or maybe three a year and that`s what some major cities get.

They do an Australian tour once a year. It's a pretty quick in and out deal, fly in and fly back after three nights of shows, they come in between Smackdown tapings and are flying back to make RAW on monday so there wouldn't be enough time to stop anywhere else to film a show

They could stop over for a day or two and do a couple of shows there. Don't they have to fly over the Hawaiian Islands anyway to get to Japan or Aus. They could easily stop do a show, get back on the plane and head off. Or do RAW on a Monday night from Honolulu on their way to Toyko. It's not impossible.

Honolulu is a small city of less than 400k people, to fly everyone in PLUS ring gear and the equipment for one show would probably be too expensive and that's why they aren't doing it
