Nakmaura vs Cena in Hawaii

OYDK

King Of The Ring
John Cena vs Shinsuke Nakamura is being advertised locally for the "supershow" in Hawaii... Holy crap. When Nakamura signed, Cena was one of the last people I ever expected him to get into the ring with, especially this soon, but this is the definition of a dream match for me. I assume Cena was the one who pitched the match and although there is a 99% chance that he is going to win, this could be big for Nakamura. If he can put on a show with Cena, it'll go a long way in showing Vince his true value to the brand... at least in my opinion.

If this does indeed end up going down, I can safely say that I haven't been this excited to watch a match since... well, Nakamura/Zayn.

Discuss friends.

Some people are saying that although it's currently "just" a house show, it's going to end up being a network special.

Apparently Lesnar/Owens and Charlotte/Asuka are also scheduled, so ... yeah sounds pretty stacked.

Personally I thought Roadblock was awesome and it wasn't inconsequential, since it showed off Ambrose as a main eventer and gave a lot of people their first taste of Enzo/Cass and Revival. If this show already has top-tier big fight matches planned, especially in things like pitting the NXT Women's champion against the main roster Women's champion, it could be an interesting way of doing some "brand crossover" type stuff.

I honestly would really like to see Champ Roman versus Champ Joe. Or Champ AJ versus Champ Joe. Either one has a bunch of potential.

I think it's awesome on one hand, in the other hand it's a huge missed opportunity to waste this on a house show or a network special. If the goal is to get more subscribers, then yes, it's a great idea. But this should be really saved for a bigger PPV like Summerslam.

Cena vs Nakamura -. Brock vs Owens -

Those two matches on the same card obliterate any hype Extreme Rules has and makes it look like a normal Raw program. This kind of reminds me of Goldberg vs Hogan back in WCW for the title. It ended up being WCWs biggest match ever, but wasted on a Nitro.

Yeah not sure if you've caught on yet but even PPVs are designed to get more subscribers to the network. Pretty much everything for wwe is about the network these days. So a network special is pretty much the same thing as a ppv just without as much build up.

It's already been announced weeks ago that it's a network special and I can't wait. I was at Roadblock and it was great.

I guess the Nakamura/Cena match will be the main event. Cena better stay away from those Nakamura kicks though. Apparently he is really stiff, and kicks like a mule. The Lesnar/Owens match should be a crackerjack of a match as well. Just keep Flair away from ringside or have Asuke put him in the Asuka Lock and I'll be happy. She's never been beat so Charlotte will have her hands full.

The whole thing is stacking up to be one hell of a show.

Absolutely agree. Asuka-Charlotte as well.

I had Asuka-Charlotte & even Cena-Nakamura (if the rumoured Cena-Taker match doesn't happen) at the next WrestleMania and as much as I want to watch this show (hopefully it does become a network special), I feel its wasted as a network special. As long as it solidifies Nakamura though.

You definitely make valid points that I largely agree with, but this is one of those times where, as a fan, that's not my problem. Besides, this is on the Network, so it's not being given away entirely free.

I'm pumped to see this. People who think Cena can't/won't handle Nakamura's stiff style need to remember that he subjected himself to Daniel Bryan's kicks and Brock Lesnar ass-kickings already. Cena is a tough bastard, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he asked for this match.

Cean winning seems likely. I personally can't see Nakamura pulling a KO-like upset; however, stranger things have happened. Naturally, many hardcore fans will freak if Cena wins, but it all depends on how he does it.

If Nakamura is still undefeated when he enters Hawaii and Cena wins, people will assume he was fed to Cena just to give him another winning streak to extinguish so John can mount Shinsuke's head on his wall alongside Umaga, Wyatt and Rusev. Depending on when this special airs, having Shinsuke eat his first loss prior to the event might be ideal if they plan on having Cena go over.

If Cena manages to eek out a win after barely surviving Shinsuke, that's probably more acceptable. Though with Hawaii being "close" to Japan (work with me here), WWE logic suggests that this will be a pseudo-homecoming for Shinsuke and enough reason to have him go over. After all, this is the same company that thought Wrestlemania 25 = 25th anniversary, so Japan/Hawaii sharing the same ocean = Nakamura hometown hero isn't beyond them.

This should be a kick-ass match regardless of who wins, though. Can't wait.

This is as close to the Cena/Tanahashi dream match setting as we are likely to get. The match will be great, as that goes without saying, but the outcome of the match in Hawaii should absolutely be a draw. There's no reason for either of these men to defeat the other without some kind of significant build up. This match should be a fan service teaser for a feud or program down the road.

If WWE wants to do a program with these two right, then the slow build is the way to go.

Rightly said, sir.

But I am almost sure that John Cena would defeat Shinsuke Nakamura. Now I don't get the reason why it should happen but still a Cena win is assured.

Speaking about the match, It would be easily a good match. Nakamura/Cena would surely be taken in contrast with Nakamura/Zayn. Both are very good at in-ring skill so that is an icing on the cake.

Asuka/Charlotte & Lesnar/Owens could be great too.

Oh man. A WWE/NXT crossover show could be fantastic. Obviously, Cena and Nakamura will be amazing. But Owens and Brock will be a lot of fun too. Asuka and Charlotte will be great. But what else could there be?

American Alpha vs. New Day? Yes please.
Joe vs. Reigns? Yes Please.
The Finn vs. Sami match we never got to see down in NXT? Yes. Fucking. Please.

I hope so much that this is a proper WWE vs. NXT show.

in the other hand it's a huge missed opportunity to waste this on a house show or a network special.

As I said in another thread, I think that these three matches being announced are completely justified and I don't understand the complaints I've been seeing around various places about it being a "waste" and that "it should be saved for a bigger show". Considering how long it's been since WWE last went to Hawaii to perform (seven years), I don't think anybody deserves to see something as amazing as this card more than they do.

Definitely sounds like an awesome show. I did enjoy Roadblock. Ambrose & HHH had a fantastic match with so many near falls. Brock vs. KO hopefully goes better than their interaction at the Royal Rumble. Cena vs. Nakamura should be an excellent contest.

I think Ceaa vs. Nakamura is fine if this ends up as a Network Special.

Specials and most PPV's are interchangeable anyways and most events come from the same revenue stream, heck I am sure you can debate if Roadblock or Fast Lane was the better show.

Actually someone was discussing what if WWE goes back to maybe 5 big PPV's (adding KOTR) and having more 2 hour Network specials? I mean it can work for NXT Takeover I can see it working in the main show.

None of these matches have been announced and all news today says this will not have Brock and will not be a network special. Pretty sure someone just spread a rumor about these dream matches knowing us smarks would shit a brick but I'm sad to.say it appears none of these matches are happening in Hawaii.
