WWE Hiring Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy's.... Baby Boy?

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
Apparently, if the reports going around are true, WWE is hiring or has already officially hired Mick Foley's son, Dewey, as a creative writer. As of right now, it's being reported that he'll begin work early next year as a creative assistant; however, it isn't a "full time" position at this point and will depend upon how much he impresses top officials.

It is worth noting that Dewey has been running a blog with his own WWE Creative ideas but that blog is now private. It's pretty interesting because Dewey's old man has been talking a lotta shit about the product all year and Dewey himself went on a rant last year taking shots at WWE saying:

"Sorry people who know much about wrestling, but this company right now is in some serious s--t. This is really bad for their company because one or two individuals truly believe that their opinions reign much higher over the millions and millions of people who watch their show religiously on a weekly basis. It's such a horrible feeling obviously because it hits close to home. You have these guys who work their asses off 320+ days a year, who barely see their loved ones, and they get completely disrespected and disregarded because Triple f--king H thinks they're 'too small' or not star material. My dad made your ass, and people told my dad all his life that he would amount to nothing. So Triple H should know from experience that the people that work their asses off and that are told that they are worthless, are the ones that make the company the best it can be. Without my dad, Triple H is just a mid-carder. My dad went out of his way to make sure that he turned Triple H into the intimidating, scary, cerebral assassin, son of a b---h that he has become. So it's about time that people who deserve to be the best are given the opportunity to show it. WWE is a f--king dictatorship and it is just truly a shame."

All the "too small" and "not star material" stuff seems more along the lines of Vince's thinking rather than Triple H's, based on much of the talent that WWE has signed to NXT the past few years because so very few of them have the super heroic, man among men look Vince has been known to prize.

At any rate, I thought this was kinda interesting and, if true, I wonder how much influence this kid could have. My initial gut reaction is that Foley will be frustrated because WWE, for all intents and purposes, genuinely is a dictatorship and whatever ultimately goes down on our televisions each week is decided up on by Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

Very interesting timing, especially if the reports about Mrs. Foleys baby boys baby girl possibly joining WWE are true as well

I know nothing of this kids creative writing ability or his knowledge of wrestling and neither does anyone else really so I'm not going to comment on that

As far as his overall influence on the show will go, I doubt he'll have more say than anyone else on the overloaded creative team. He'll contribute as much as they let him. I'd really love to see split writing teams, one for Main Events, one for Divas, one for Midcard, and one for tag teams. Delegating is important when there are alot of chefs I'm the kitchen.

We know Mick is enamored by the talent on this Divas roster, as everyone should be, and maybe having Dewey at the creative table will be a way for Mick to help contribute. Either way, I wish the kid all the best and hope he has success. But he has to keep that keyboard warrior shit at home. This is now his job

This sums up my thoughts. While it's nice to think that Dewey may actually bring some change to WWE Creative, ultimately he's going to be answering to a lot of higher-ups who are going to make sure he's doing what they want him to do. As Immortal Technique would say, the problem with being a conformist is that when you try to change the system from within, it's not you who changes the system; it's the system that will eventually change you. For all the bile we spew at WWE Creative, nothing would change were any one of us to be hired. We'd write exactly what Vince wants us to, because as Jack-Hammer mentioned, WWE is a dictatorship run by Vince nowadays. No matter who WWE hires, the product is still going to be what Vince wants it to be. Until he changes his mind on the direction of his company, we'll get the same stuff.

It's interesting that Mick has been ripping WWE for a while now. Is it possible he didn't know his son was going to get an opportunity on Creative? He changed his tune pretty quick after Monday.

I've seen some one Noelle's stuff on youtube - might work as long as they let her be her and not try and give her a gimmick. Problem is she is kind of similar to Renee Young in some ways so they need to be careful so each has an identity. Don't know how long it will last though as i could see her getting tired of the politics. As for Dewey, I think he has a bit of a target on his back. If his first few ideas don't work great, he won't still be there. Of course, they need to support those ideas so they could be just setting him up to fail right from the start - don't fool yourself and think wwe isn't that petty.

Id be very surprised if this really impacts anything, We've seen the talent in the writing pool go through, and the PG Pipeline limits everything, and with no competition, keeping sponsors happy is bigger than writing.

I'm honestly not a big fan of legacy hires in the first place, growing up with Mankind as a dad doesn't really give him any extra credibility, it's just a way to generate some buzz with a name. The way he shit talked Trips straight on and got employed is interesting, but the egos involved in WWE's control hierarchy mean that nothings going to change unless the WWE is truly threatened.

Wait a minute...

At WrestleMania 20, JR said during Mick Foley's entrance that he wanted to wish his son Dewey a happy birthday, he was turning 1 year old that day. That was in 2004. It is now 2015. 2015 - 2004 = 11.

WWE is hiring 11 year old writers?

That explains a LOT.

Wait,,what? I went and looked it up after I read your post, thinking it must be a mistake. It was. According to Mick Foley's profile, his son Dewey was born February 20, 1992. So you must have heard JR wrong..

His son Hughie was born in 2003 so JR might have mixed up the names. They are very similar.

Rewatch it on the Network, I just did. "Mick wanted me to wish a happy birthday, first birthday, to his baby son Dewey." JR says it just after Foley gets to the ringside area. So either JR made a REALLY bad mistake, or something very strange is going on.

Just read your edited post, that's what must have happened. JR got Foley's sons' names mixed up. Foley named his sons Hughie and Dewey, but the middle one Mickey? WTF? If you're going to go Donald Duck with your kids' names, go Full Donald.

I can see JR making the mistake. He was gold on the mic, but not perfect. Besides it is an easy one with the name almost being the same. You're right though Mick should have named them Huey, Dewey and Louie.

As Mick Foley has been criticising the booking of WWE Divas like Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch ,Paige etc, i think WWE should let his son Dewey do the booking of them..... Even give him a team for booking of only the divas.... Might be an improvement...

Since the infamous Cane Dewey was in ECW before Mick was hired by WWF so I would imagaine it was a mistake

It's great to see both Dewey and Noelle in WWE's plans. I even wrote on Mick's FB post about it...

That some are negative on it or call nepotism on 2nd or 3rd gen people is plain wrong. Remember the WWE brass have known these two kids since they were babies. Noelle was barely born when Mick was in the boiler room match and Dewey played a big part in getting Mick over..

It's no different with Rock, Randy, Bo and Bray, Axel or Charlotte - nepotism doesn't get them hired. The first thing WWE looks at is good character...if Vince, Steph and Trips have known someone since they were kids, know their parents and that they have been brought up well then of course they're likely to take a chance on the hire... no free rides, but they know it's less of a risk unless the apple falls VERY far from the tree... some don't work out like Sim Snuka or Ted DiBiase, some need to develop elsewhere like Harry Smith and some become long term players. Even Shane was a ref and merch seller before he ever got near the ring or the boardroom.

Dewey clearly has a good wrestling mind, honed over years of talking to his dad, who has a great wrestling mind. Indeed, it was telling what Mick said about seeing out the semester in his current job and that Vince would not only defer the job but respect him more for doing so. There'd have been no issue at all had he said "I'm leaving" but that he didn't shows Vince and those around him that he can be trusted, that he takes his work seriously and most importantly, is his father's son. That's all they need to make a hire...

Dewey is almost a left-field hire but Noelle has been on the cards for a long time. As good as Renee Young is, you get the sense that her time was going to be short as soon as she hooked up with Ambrose. Noelle is a natural replacement for her, and someone who can be "herself", has her own identity but still be Noelle Foley... I don't think they even need to change her name..

Sure she might get a few "Nipples" chants here and there, but there's clearly a lot of respect there among the fans and they'd take to her much as they did Renee and how they didn't quite so much with Brandi. Lillian isn't getting any younger, so she could be a great long term hire in that area and of course there is potential to train her as a Diva...

It could even be that WWE wanted Noelle but figured hiring Dewey would help to achieve that, or that both being together would improve their chances of success, after all the road and life of a writer/backstage interviewer is tough.

There are no real downsides to them being hired... and even if it WAS nepotism, would anyone actually begrudge it to them? The two kids of the nicest guy in Wrestling?

Look at it this way, these two grew up with a dad on the road, saw the impact first hand and WANT to do that with their own lives, even if it means the same for their families down the line... anyone who does deserves respect...

Of course, the people Dewey is talking about are the ones who made it to WWE, having toiled for a long time in lesser wrestling organizations. He might also make mention of the many fine young men & women who worked as hard as they could but were never given a chance at the top level.

In that vein, it might be proper to ask Dewey if he thinks he and his sister would be getting a shot at the big time had it not been for their father. I don't recall reading of Dewey working for a company that staged it's matches in junior high school gyms in West Virginia. It's nice that he appreciates what it takes to make it in the #1 sports entertainment company.....but, just for perspective, I hope he recognizes his own privileged position in his chosen profession.

Nothing against Dewey; if he's got good ideas, I hope he gets heard......and doesn't get too frustrated if ideas that he deems fabulous don't get implemented.

What do they have to lose by taking a chance on Foley's kids? It's a low risk hire. On WWEs part it could be a; "you think you can do better, here you go come on in". Hopefully he will get to test his fantasy creativity down in NXT first. I honestly wish both kids the best, especially Noelle as she's an attractive young lady - hopefully she's poised for the job.
