WWE Extreme Rules - WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Rollins (c) VS Orton

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
Due to winning the triple threat match last night, Randy Orton is the #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and faces Rollins for the strap at Extreme Rules.

This should be another highly entertaining outing between these two. I think most people felt that Orton would win at WrestleMania, it just seemed too unlikely he'd lose two matches straight to Rollins, though that didn't keep it from being highly entertaining. In this match, the roles are reversed as there's little chance Orton wins the title, nor should he in my opinion, but that shouldn't hurt the match. If anything, with the title on the line, maybe things could be even amped up a little bit.

Of course, it's still entirely possible for WWE to screw this up if they use the novelty of every match on the card being no disqualification to turn this one into an overbooked clusterfuck. It can happen with J&J Security interfering, as well as Kane & Big show. Minor interference, like we saw at WrestleMania, works just fine, but I have a feeling that if The Authority interferes in force to prevent Rollins from losing, here'll come Ryback & Roman Reigns to even things up, it turns into one big brawl and Rollins manages to somehow score a squirrely win.

Should be a great match. The only thing I ask from it is a clean Rollins victory. Have J & J banned from ringside and actually have Rollins earn a victory against a top star for once.

With all the talk surrounding the RKO from Mania, I hope they incorporate it into the match. I think its safe to say that Rollins will retain here and I hope that occurs by him figuring out a way to reverse Randy's reversal of the curb stomp into an RKO. Not even sure how or if that can be done but I'm sure if it can a guy like Rollins can pull it off.

I agree. The slimy heel schtick serves its purpose for sure, as do traditional heel tactics. But at some point, a heel needs to win clean to establish legitimacy. If WWE intends Rollins to be for real, a clean win here is a necessity. Orton got his comeuppance at Mania in spectacular fashion. Orton has his skins on the wall, there is no one who doubts his status as a top guy.

Rollins needs to win here. Maybe not squeaky clean, but clean enough to matter. J&J need to go. Permanently.

This will most likely be an extreme rules match, since it's going to be the PPV's main-event. Rollins retains, it's obvious and it would be stupid to do anything else. I expect heavy Authority involvement, even if Kane bans them from ringside.

Even if there's Authority involvement I want Rollins looking strong coming out of it. Have them interfere, but their interfereance should not be a factor in his victory. I also want to see a phoenix splash into an RKO. How also would that be? Or maybe a re-do of WM's RKO. However Rollins kicks out of either RKO and finishes the match by Curb Stomping Orton's skull into a chair or whatever. Orton should bring him punishment, but Rollins should escape it and retain.

C'mon, this is the fuckin' WWE. Even considering something of the sort is outlandish.

Fuck finish. Enjoy this rollins title reign you were all so excited about.

Wouldn't be a bad idea overall.
Just make it that on RAW the following night, Orton is revealed as Bray Wyatt's next target and possible high profile recruit...

Don't care about this or any of the extreme rules matches at all for that matter. I'm sure it will be a good bout but the interest is not there at all. I never cared for Rollins to be champ and we all know this isnt ending at Extreme Rules. It will probably be an extreme rules match and Rollins will win off some fluke leading to ANOTHER match at Over the limit or whatever the fuck the next ppv is called. Then after Orton is done what is next you say? Why Reigns or Cena of course because we haven't seen that match enough times.

Seriously something interesting better happen in the coming months otherwise I just have no reason to tune in until Lesnar returns and gets his rematch. Everything is basically on hold until then anyway.

It should be a good match. It wouldn't surprise me if Rollins wins by grabbing Orton's tights/putting his feet on the ropes while pinned, something heelish to get out of it. It would be too predictable if J and J or Big Show/Kane interfered.

Its just all going to be filler. Rollins, Cena, and Bryan are obviously all going to retain. Extreme Rules is just a filler PPV.

The only thing I ask from it is a clean Rollins victory.

I figure the only way we see that from Rollins is when he turns face (while Reigns and Ambrose presumably turn heel). Yes, that comes somewhere down the line....and as long as Rollins is world champion, winning by foul means is bound to continue.

Still, while all the J & J Security, Kane, Big Show stuff has had enough twists & turns to keep things fresh to this point, it won't last forever; the notion that a world titleholder can't win a match clean to save his life will become objectionable at some point, regardless of how much one might like Seth Rollins.

At the same time, Randy Orton is still seen as a supreme performer and I figure the only way he loses is through devious tactics on the part of Seth's team.

So, Randy loses dirty.

Orton if he wins the title then he will be a 13-time World Champion, tying him with the COO Triple H who is also a 13-time World Champion since Orton is a 12 time World Champion but in any event I don't see Orton winning the title any time soon but Rollins as for him he just won the title back at Mania and I can't see him being a transitional champion but considering I am sure Rollins they want to keep the title on him at least until Brock gets back to set up Rollins/Lesnar which is the obvious direction WWE wants to go in

It'll be a good match, no doubt but I think 99.9% of us know it's going to be a Seth Rollins victory, as it should be. The fans are buzzing after the MITB cash-in at WM, giving us the Rollins title reign we've been waiting for, so there's no way Orton is leaving with the belt.

I'd like a clean win for Rollins, like others have said, but it's more than likely going to be an interferance-filled match with The Authority getting involved. I'd like Rollins to order them to stay in the back, as he wants to get revenge on his own for Orton's WM victory over him, but I doubt that's going to be on the cards.

Dammit, do a Phoenix splash too! I want to see him properly land one, and a reversal into an RKO would be mind-blowing. However, that would have to result in a 3 count for Orton, so it's pretty unlikely we'll see that spot.

I really don't imagine for one minute that they had Rollins win the title the way he did only to lose it to Boreton a month later!

There will of course be the usual Authority interference bollocks but I've also got an odd feeling the authority will gain a surprise new member at ER who will help Rollins retain. Sheamus is the likely candidate.

Whatever happens Rollins will retain.

Should be a great match..

Rollins needs to cheat and do something scummy to win. A clean win doesn't make sense with the type of heel character he is.

Really looking forward to seeing if Orton can cope without the RKO. Will him doing it end up being his downfall somehow, or is the return of the Punt Kick impending?

Also, I wonder what the chances of a Phoenix Splash happening from the top of the cage is... it is Extreme Rules, after all.

Its just all going to be filler. Rollins, Cena, and Bryan are obviously all going to retain. Extreme Rules is just a filler PPV.

I wouldn't say filler. If anything I'd say it's a transition PPV for the new season of WWE. We could start getting ideas of what MITB and Summerslam are going to look like.

I don't like the stipulation for this match. The cage is fine, but no rko? What the hell is that? The rko is one of the main reasons Orton is so popular. Why take away a move that generates a big pop? Yeah there will be some psychology involved with Orton instinctively going for the rko before realizing he can't. I'm sure Rollins will eat one after the bell to please the fans. Still though, taking away the anticipation for seeing the big move during the match does not seem like a good idea to me.

Of course, everyone realizes how ludicrous the stipulation factor is, no?

Randy's call is a true stipulation in that it applies to both participants; they both have to deal with fighting in a steel cage, which is fine.

But how could Seth's stip reasonably apply? He bans the signature move of the other guy.....yet doesn't affect Rollins in any way? That's not a reasonable stipulation.

After all, why wouldn't Randy stipulate that Seth has to wrestle with both arms tied behind his back? That's just as fair and equitable as Seth forbidding Orton from using the RKO, if you're going to allow a condition to apply to only one man in a two-man contest.

Or, Randy could ban J & J Security from ringside, with the added stipulation that if Mercury & Noble show up, Rollins gets disqualified WITH a loss of title.

Either way, only in pro wrestling could a condition like this one be applied.

I also feel it's safe to say that Rollins retains. He just won the championship. Actually I do believe Rollins will have a lengthy run. This will probably be one of Rollins' lucky wins. Orton will lose dirty, but I don't think it's going to be because of the Authority. I think it's going to be because of Wyatt. As L@RISANO had mentioned and I believe it was also hinted off from a recent RAW that Wyatt is now after Orton.

So I think we'll see pretty much the same end result like we did at that Rollins/Ambrose back at Hell In A Cell. Lights go out as Randy is about to punt Rollins, light come back on, there's Wyatt and he gives Orton sister abigail and Rollins goes for the pin as Wyatt stares with that blank, euphoric look to a fallen Orton, thus ending his feud with Rollins.

I feel Rollins retains as well. There are no more surprises in pro wrestling unfortunately haha.

I believe either Kane will show he is true authority all along, or Wyatt will show up and take out Orton.

Nothing really surprising, shocking, or new.

This Sunday at Extreme Rules I see the Orton/Rollins match going down like this..

I think it'll happen like this..Orton will be down and Rollins runs to the door but Kane turns and locks the gate forcing Rollins to climb....he gets to top and instead climbing on over he jumps off to body splash on. Instead we see a UGE RKO spot when Orton rko's Rollins off the top of the cage. DQ'ing Orton. Rollins wins, keeps his title. And they can still turn Kane on the authority because he did turn...

Thoughts??

I don't see any face turn from Kane. they tease tension between Kane and authority. at last Kane helped Rollins to win. Kane chokeslam both j & j security. big show won't appear bcoz of his LMS match. either hhh or stephnie came and control Kane.

if they booked Kane split from authority then Rollins next opponent will be Kane.

Logically (and I know this sometimes goes out the window with WWE) if Rollins was going to escape via the door, but Kane locks it forcing him to climb, if he gets to the top, why would he turn and dive onto Orton who I assume would still be laid out. Surely he would just drop down to win? he has no reason to hurt Orton, and this fued has been about Rollins getting away from him.

I can only see him being forced to climb, Orton goes up with him and hits the RKO from the top.

I see Kane helping Rollings win this one.

Orton isn't allowed to use the RKO it's one of the match stipulations.

On the other hand this match will be very interesting with Kane at the door, it could go one of several ways. Either he will lock it and not let either out, forcing both to try and climb, which will make for a spotfest. He will lock it against Rollins, forcing him to fight Orton, and in a way getting back at him for his big mouth. Or he will remain the loyal Authority stooge and keep Orton in, but let Rollins out as soon as he's able.

I"m sure there will be lot's of shenanigans happening with the Authority and possibly even HHH at ringside, to make sure Rollins retains. Which he should as it would have been a waste for that great Mania moment only to lose the title a month later.
