WWE Divas Are Being Cheated - Why Aren't They Getting More Credit?

The Divas division has been suffering because of WWEs moto of "looks first ability second" when it comes to womens wrestling. I mean honestly at one point they had Gail Kim, Natalya, Beth Phoenix, Kharma, and Eve all of which can do reasonable, and Gail is the freaking best female wrestler in the business today, but who was their champions that they pushed? Kelly freaking Kelly and the damn Bella Twins. Had them going out and having 2 minute disgrace matches and you are really asking why they are not getting any respect?

The division has been disrespected so much as of late that it's going to take a lot to rebuild it to the level that Trish, Lita, Molly Holly, Mickie James Victoria etc etc had once built it up to. Its like when Trish and Lita left instead of trusting Mickie James and Victoria, who where two of the best they had, to step up they instead decided "nope never gonna be anyone like those two so lets turn it into a beauty contest" and really damaged the division.

Now I think there is potential with what Eve is doing and potential if the rub AJ is getting from Daniels pays off. I also believe if they give Beth and Kharma a fued with reasonable match and promo time those two can do a lot to rebuild the respect the division once had. WWE has the potential to revive the division the question is if they have the desire and the understanding to do it.

O THAT'S IT. People want to see women doing MOOOOVEZ. that's why TNA's knockouts, who pretty much only do MOOOOVEZ, are so over right? O wait, that's kinda fuckin ******ed.

Women's wrestling is just like men's wrestling; only difference is that it has to have a unique style because it's women. If you portray your character well, and tell a story in the ring, you'll get over.

Trish and Lita got over because people related to them and they told stories in the ring. You REALLY think Trish gets over if she's not blonde and hot? Ask Jazz how over you get on MOVEZ alone. Seriously man, Beth Phoenix worked magic with KK, she had damn good matches against basically everyone. How has it worked out? If there is no story, if there isn't a character people believe in, all the moves in the world don't matter.

WWE needs to bring in some real female talent or just scrap the whole pathetic division. Honestly, my fast foward button cant take much more.

Women's wrestling is in a dire state right now, WWE have chosen hit women and then trained them to wrestle, rather than finding hot women who can already wrestle or are already athletes. The WWE struck gold once (once!!) with a former model in Trish and have used her as the goddamn blueprint for an entire division, it would be like them only recruiting former Olympic greco-roman wrestlers after the success of Kurt Angle, it's dumb.

As for the guy who said they should be willing to compromise on looks in order to get good wrestlers, umm no, K2, Eve and the rest of the Divas wear an ass-ton of make up. Besides go look at the shimmer roster or something, admittedly not all of the women there have photos but from those that do there are hot ones. It is not impossible to find athletic and attractive women, Mickie James, Gail Kim, Layla, McCool, Trish, Lita, Beth, Natalya all women who were attractive and could wrestle and all of them have been on WWE tv in the past two years all but Lita have been in a match in that time too.

The thing is, as others have said, the audience doesn't give a flying damn about women's wrestling, the companies don't give a flying damn about it either, but the people who do care, or the people who would complain about it if it were to disappear overnight would make enough noise to be unignorable. Accept it for what it is, it's not gonna change unless someone shakes it up in a big way, maybe Kharma will do it. Who knows?

Gonna call you on KK..... Beth made the matches with KK less crappy, but still crappy. I think it would need to go from crappy to good+ to be magic.

My view on Divas nowadays is:

Beth, Natalya, Tamina and Eve could put on some decent matches between them, but the rest of the division needs refreshing.
It is seen (and has for a long time been seen) as piss break wrestling, however Trish and Lita managed to make that non-applicable to their feuds.

(You can add Kharma to the list as I have enjoyed her work as Kong in TNA)

I dont know the answer, but I honestly think that when a 90lb woman "bounces" off the ropes, and the ropes dont even move, that you have a basic issue with selling the match.....

It is not all the Divas fault. They are just eye candy anymore. There are 2-4 of them that can wrestle now a days. Its up to them how they train. I know some divas say why dont u try, to that I say I to can botch the entire match but i dont need the extra traing how not to botch and then do the oppistie.

About degrading and all that. remeber when trish had to bark and act like a dog. And she was at the top before she had to do that. It just the way it is sometimes.

About the old school women wreslers alot of them wrestled in Japan. Thats a whole differnt level there. I dont think japen whould let these divas in thier building let alone thier ring

the roster of Knockouts is superior to the divas at WWE,no womens poses for playboy and just worked everyday for to satisfied the fans of TNA,that's one of the big difference between theses 2 companies.

I was compelled to write this because I know this is a highly debateable topic but one that I believe gets overlooked alot. I know alot of the fans of sports entertainment prefer to watch the guys go at it but im a guy and I have to say that the divas get absolutely no respect or any good angles. The truth is its actually pretty pathetic how Vince and even Stephanie and Hunter and all the power people behind the scenes treat the divas ON AIR in terms of length of their matches on TV and PPV and the storylines. I just think they should either cut ties with the divas division or finally start giving them some respect in regards to their matches.

This whole Eve Torres Hoe storyline is flat out ******ed on so many levels. Thats the only damn way they could "get her over" by making her a Hoe? Its stupid they had to do the shes a ****ty hoe gimmick to make her a heel. Not to sound callous but usually in society women who sleep around and are "hoes" arent considered "heels" by the majority of men , and the wwe fanbase is mostly men. So a hot woman who sleeps with guys is considered a "heel" I find that kind of misleading. Eve now will be branded a "hoe" in real life based on the character she is playing. I heard a big time wrestler one time say that the guys in wwe are usually playing ramped up versions of themselves in real life. So I dont know if Eve has a bad reputation in real life or not but maybe shes a Hoe for real and Vince is kind of burying her with her own bad rep. She doesnt seem like it but she will be considered a "hoe" now and dont forget alot of ppl who watch WWE actually believe its real.

I dont think the divas should main event any PPVs or anything and I certainly doubt they can put on 20 minutes matches but they need more time to shine because its sickening how they only get used in manager/backstage roles or how many times do they have 10 diva tag matches and 20 diva battle royals. Either use them or lose them, Yes I appreciate that they are considered "attractive" and most guys just wanna see them in some hot little outfits and be done with them in 2 minutes but they really do deserve more than that IF you are gonna hire them ., Give them some fucking credit and actually use them. I would say on PPV the divas deserve at least a decent 10 minute title match and on TV they should get around 6-8 minute matches if they arent in the main event on RAW or SD. I am not saying they put on the greatest matches and sometimes they can look choppy but I have seen times where they do a really decent job and they do their best just like the guys. In some ways its their own fault , they choose to be in the WWE which is male dominant and they do get paid very well and they get to do photoshoots and are features in ads and magazines and wwe.com but IN RING they get no respect.
