WWE Backlash: SD Tag Team Championship - The Usos (c) VS Breezango

Breezango came out as #1 contenders for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship after winning a tag team Beat the Clock Challenge last night. As a result, they've got the Usos at the first SmackDown brand ppv in the post WrestleMania season, Backlash.

I think there are a couple of different ways to look at this.

On one hand, it does reinforce the notion that the overall tag team picture on SmackDown Live isn't all that strong. It'll improve significantly once New Day arrives, but that won't be until Kofi is medically cleared, though I don't know why Big E and Woods couldn't carry on in his absence. Still, I don't think there's any real doubt that the blue brand's tag team scene is probably the overall weakest component of the main roster right now following the brand split.

On the other hand, SmackDown Live's creative team has shown a strong talent for being able to do more with less and the whole "Land of Opportunity" aspect of things has yielded a lot of entertaining results. Tyler Breeze and Fandango can be a lot of fun to watch and both are worth more than the use they've been given in WWE. While the whole Fashion Police thing is kind of silly, it's something that could be tweaked a little into a solid gimmick that fans can get by. Also, I think fans could get behind them if they were portrayed more seriously because they've put on good matches in the past. While it's been a while, I remember they had a couple of really fun matches against the Usos last year so the potential is there.

I think there's little chance of Breezango winning at this point, but this is still a good opportunity to show some of what they've got and to improve their standing.

I feel nothing towards The Usos but Ive always had a fondness for Fandango and Breeze. No team has any real credibility and only the New Day in the whole division have anything going for them, so the outcome is largely irrelevant

I love Breezango, have since they got together. They are a comedy team that are actually quite funny but also are both very capable in the ring. Maybe both of them are better than over half the roster now that I think of it.I am so happy they finally get a shot at the titles. They have the talent to be more than the comedy team, they could legit be the 4th best team, maybe 3rd behind AA and the New Day, if they were given the chance.

Are they gonna win this one? Nope. I would love them to but storyline wise/roster wise it doesn't make sense and the Usos are actually better than hey have been in the last couple of years. I don't mind watching them as heels. I expect this match to go probably maybe just over 10 minutes with some very close, crowd buzzing near falls for Breezango before the Usos retain and move back onto AA. We ain't gonna have Nee Day vs Usos again are we?

In the New Day's absence, I really don't mind this. Why not try to build teams to a certain level to make the tag team division that bit more credible even after the New Day arrive? My only issue is that the division on SmackDown seems very messy. What is going on with American Alpha? Where are they going with The Colons? I'm patient and I'll wait but I'm just thinking from past experiences that SmackDown hasn't always been the best when booking the tag team division. Neither has Raw though, so maybe it's an overall issue across the brands.

Breezango will probably lose this match, but I hope they get a decent amount of time to show people that there is more to them than their characters. It can be a good stepping stone for them to become more prominent figures in the division. And the thing is, they're not really that bad of a time. I'd definitely rate them higher than say The Ascension and The Colons at this point.

The fantasy booker in me says that this ends in a screwy finish. The Ascension come down and beat everyone up because why not? Followed by American Alpha. Followed by The Colons. Followed by the returning New Day. Followed by a reunited Harper and Rowan. Seven teams out there and these two on top. One can dream right? But that won't happen, and the likelihood is that The Usos will get the clean win and move on.

Nice to see another tag team get a shot at the title. Saying that though it is doubtful that Breezedango will win, the Uso's are a very strong tag team. Even with the heel turn I'm still not invested enough in the Uso's. Might be because they held the top of the division for so long before New Day took over.

This match is pretty much done and dusted with an Uso win here. The biggest question is, what the hell have the WWE done to American Alpha?

About American Alpha, I feel like there wasn't much for them in Smackdown Tag Team Division. Just the Usos were a credible tag team. Alpha got the titles way too early but there weren't much options as well. At NXT, they had Revival & Enzo-Cass as well. Again more problem arised due to brand split.

As for the match, I'm okay with Breezango getting the title shot. Tyler Breeze is good in the ring as his NXT career showed. I don't think that Usos will lose anytime soon though.

American Alpha suffered from the fact that SmackDown Live simply has had a weak tag team division since the start of the brand split. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if there was no brand split among the tag teams; WWE would probably have the strongest tag team division in its history with the Hardy Boyz, the Usos, Cesaro & Sheamus, American Alpha, the Revival, Gallows & Anderson, Enzo & Big Cass and New Day as the top teams. Factor in the Ascension, Breezango, Slater & Rhyno and the eventual main roster debuts of #DIY and the Authors of Pain, there might even be enough strength overall for a mid-card tag team title.

Would it make sense for the tag team division to be without brand restrictions? Well, probably not but that didn't bother Vince when he moved the #1 contender for the WWE Championship, AKA Bray Wyatt, to Raw when he's right smack in the middle of a title feud and without explanation magically made Wyatt's upcoming title opportunity disappear. At least a supremely strong tag team division would result in something positive.

I tend to agree. The tag division should never have been watered down so much. Even though New Day held the titles for so long, the WWE had time to build up some credible teams to take over once the titles were dropped.

Gallows and Anderson should go back to NJPW, they were better off there. Ascension, well enuff said about them, it's been a failure all round. Enzo and Big Cass are boring the crap out of me now. I am interested in Sheamus and Cesaro though, they are actually quite good together and so are the Revival. Shame about the broken jaw. Bringing back the Hardy's was great but the division is kind of crappy so to speak. I say put them all on the same show and let the best teams rise to the surface.

As wrestlers, there's nothing to hate about Tyler Breeze and Fandango. As characters though, there's alot to dislike and as for the match, rinse and repeat.

So tell me, who's the fans supposed to cheer for?? the stupid fashion police or the heel Usos who're barely on the show??? i like Breezango, but i feel that their gimmick needs to be two guys who just like taking selfies together and i think they should ditch Fandango's lame music and come out to Breeze's which is at least entertaining (the Fandango music is just so out of touch now). the Fashion Police gimmick speaks as very cartoonish. two selfie lovers would be entertaining and they could even take selfies with the fans (if they're used as faces).

As for chances of them winning, i feel it's low. i think they are placeholders until New Day joins Smackdown.

Breezango vs New Day will be alot of fun..heres hoping Breezango get the belts. Usos bore me, Alpha need a spell from the belts,I see them being used in 6 man tags with Orton vs Mahal and the Singh Bros
