Wrestling School

I am positive there is a thread on this somewhere, but I have not found it. If there is, please direct me.

I live in Florida and am considering applying to FCW. Could anyone please fill me in as to what wrestling school is like? What do they begin teaching you, what skills should you go in with, etc.?

Give me all the details you can, please. This would be greatly appreciated. :)

Well, im just going by what other wrestlers have said in autobiographies.

Finish college/university so you have a fallback option because the wrestling business is not the same as it was in 80s.

Secondly, if your not 6ft 4 and built like a tank, I doubt the WWE would even take a look at you(Vince is a funny bugger)

I think Harley Race's school might be a better choice for you as FCW seems to be for "finishing" off your wrestling education.

Well FCW would be a pretty big step just to start off. Like FoleyIsGod said, FCW is the "finishing" to your wrestling schooling. If I were you, I would first start off in a little "private" wrestling school. Check out on the web if there are any small-time local wrestling schools in Florida. After that you can apply to FCW. But also as FoleyIsGod said, remember the WWE doesn't like the little guys so, you better be at least 6 feet tall.

As for what they teach you, my firend has told me that it's basically "Wrestling 101". They show you how to take bumps, cut a promo, developp a character, and obviously wrestle.

I mustn't lie, I've thought of doing this as well. I also live in FL and am aware of the many choices I have in terms of mat education. I'm about 5'10" which means I'd be billed at 6'0" lmao but I wouldn't even TRY wrestling school unless I was in ring shape. I'm about 183 lbs. now and not fat. I'm pretty athletic, but not bulky in terms of muscle and that's my concern. If I could bring myself to within 210 lbs within a year and a half then I'd definitely give it serious consideration. Though to answer your question Roy, a couple of schools in Florida that I know of are Dory Funk's and the SECW school run by Lanny Poffo (Randy Savage's brother). Though I'm not sure if the SECW school is still active though SECW tours around the Central FL area quite a bit....I found the number (407) 523-2674, so give it a shot if you're serious. And good luck.

Team 3D runs a wrestling school in Kissimee, FL. I'm probably misspelling the city's name. I heard Dory Funk's school is a scam.

Now if you want to try outside of Florida, you can try the WWA4 school up in Atlanta, GA. I have seen the products of their wrestling school and they are good. Mr Hughes is the main trainer and then he encourages his guys to go out and wrestle as much as they can. You can visit their website: http://wwa4.com/

Then there is Raven's wrestling school in Phenix City, AL. This is connected to Great Championship Wrestling also in Phenix City. Raven and Johnny Swinger are the main trainers. Their website is: http://www.gcwaction.com That will take you to the main site and just click on the school link. And who knows, if you go through this training school you might get a chance to wrestle wrestlezone's favorite personality, Disco Inferno. LOL

Not to blow our own horn, or to start any bashing of one school over another, so here I go.
I am with The Monster Factory. We are located in New Jersey and have turned out workers for almost 25 years. Check out our website at www.monsterfactory.com and also our promotion at www.oldtimewrestling.net .

The Wild Samoan camp is run by one of the wild samoans(ence the name). They seemingly have had a few successes, most of which have moved on to FCW.

They also have a federation, called WXW, attatted which has its own weekly wrestling show.

i know that kory chavis(aka rainman) is going to start training ppl in the central florida area starting around october...i know he is going to charge considerably less than most schools and teach considerably more...if you want any info pls feel free to email me on here or myspace at myspace.com/kelly319 you can also get to his myspace from mine and contact him about it if youd like

i read chris jerichos book and it says he spent the first two weeks stretching, running, and calisthenics. Like jack said you do a lot of squating. Then you start learning how to take back bumps, front bumps, and side bumps. Then you start learning basic moves and progress from their to more advanced moves.

I'm actually starting my training this weekend with Angel Armani, the "best in the midwest". I have actually met with him and gone to his house to watch some of his matches and other matches. He talked about the little things that go unnoticeable to many people including me before he said anything. Anyhow I am 6'2" and weigh about 215 pounds, unfortunately I am not all muscle like the "big leagues" want but I'm gonna work my ass off to get there. This has been a life-long dream of mine and I figured why not try it?
