Wrestlers who have worked for every major American wrestling company?

FromGlasgow

Championship Contender
I was trying to think of wrestlers who have worked for all the 5 major American wrestling company of the past 50 years including WWE/WWF, WCW/NWA, AWA, ECW and TNA, So far I have.....
Road Warrior Hawk,
Scott Hall,
Dusty Rhodes,
Raven,
Terry Funk,
Vader,
Sherri Martel,
Ricky Morton,
Robert Gibson,
Cactus Jack.
Am I missing anyone?

I'm not 100%, I do think Rick Flair should be on the list. Even thou his ecw stint was the wwe version..

Vader...started in the AWA, and had a brief tenure in TNA back in 2003...pretty sure he was at one point in ECW, but can't recall when or find anything.

I think you may have got everyone. There are alot of wrestlers who've worked for 4 of the 5 major organisations, but due to the passage of time between the AWA being a major force and TNA coming onto the scene, its likely most AWA alumni had become too old to be a part of the TNA roster.

Wrestlers who have appeared in 4 of the companies includes:

Curt Hennig (AWA, WCW, WWE, TNA)
Jerry Lynn (WCW, ECW, WWE, TNA)
The Sandman (ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA)
Juventud Guerrera (ECW, WCW, TNA, WCW)
Rob Van Dam (WCW, ECW, WWE, TNA)
The Steiners (WCW, WWE, ECW, TNA)
Perry Saturn (ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA)

And I am sure there are quite a lot more.

Road Warriors.
Made an appearance on a TNA PPV. Hawk at least was in ECW for a short time.

The only one I am not sure on is Marty Jannetty... If he has even done one shot for TNA over the years (and he must have) then he is on the list as he did one match for ECW.

Guys on the 4 list include Zybysko (missed ECW), Paul Heyman (never worked for TNA as far as I am aware) and DDP who never worked for ECW and Sabu who never worked for the AWA.

There are always gonna be some guys who are "on the bubble" cos you can never say they were NEVER booked by all 5... someone like Al Snow is almost nailed on to have been booked by WCW and Verne as a jobber at least once since his debut in 1982... so it is very likely he makes the list. there are probably others too.

Jerry Lynn actually made a few appearances for the AWA in his early career so he's another for the list as a competitor.

Jimmy Snuka has appeared in all five promotions but never competed in TNA.

Fabulous Freebirds worked AWA, WWE and WCW. Terry Gordy also competed in ECW, so that puts him on the 4 list.

I'm with Triple Naitch on this one. because of the elapsed time from the AWA to TNA, it's hard to find a bunch of guys that have done all 5 of the major organizations, but 4/5 is a bit easier. and honestly, you all are way smarter than I am, cuz I could only think of a few.

Mick Foley did ECW, WCW, WWE and TNA.
and that's as far as I got. without looking up any others, Mick was it for me. besides that, I got a bunch of three-sers.

Steiner Brothers did WCW, WWE and TNA. I was unaware they did any ECW stuff but it sounds possible.
Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Jeff Jarrett did WCW, WWE and TNA, but none of them did ECW that I know about.
RVD, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer and the Dudley Boys did ECW, WWE and TNA, but not WCW I don't think.

so yeah, I suck at this game. what about Jake the Snake Roberts? obviously WWE, he did a little WCW (I remember his feud with Sting in that awful Coal Miner's Glove on a Pole Match), had a quick appearance in ECW and even a tag match there, and then appeared at TNA as a guest referee for a Monster's Ball Match. plus, given his age, I bet he hit AWA as well coming up. but I'm only guessing at this point.

Rick Steiner started out in the AWA so he's spent time in all of them but Scott started out in the WWA so he doesn't.

Jake Roberts had some AWA matches in 1985.

The Steiners appeared in ECW in 1995, but they weren't there for very long.

RVD wrestled in WCW as Robbie V as a young kid, before going to ECW so that's why he is on my list of guys who appeared in 4/5 companies, while Sabu also had a small run in WCW.

Others that I have thought of since I posted my original list include:

Kid Kash (ECW, WCW, TNA, WWE)- he had a very short run as "Kash" before WCW went out of business.
Pcicosis (ECW, WCW, TNA, WWE)
Mike Awesome (ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA)

and the one I had totally forgotten about is SCOTT HALL who appeared in ECW briefly after leaving WCW, as well as his well known WWE and TNA runs.

Like I said, there are a few guys who would be in that "club" from working as jobbers so a complete list is never gonna be accurate. Some guys will have done one shot jobber roles or try outs for Verne early in their career... maybe not televised while Al Snow is the one that leapt into my mind you can't rule out a lot of other guys doing so to get that AWA connection.

Likewise most talents looking for a job would have stopped by a TNA event and perhaps popped a live crowd so someone like Jannetty is probably, since 2002 in that bracket.

The frame of the question was "worked for" not wrestled for... guys could have consulted, done marketing etc... hell we know how Heyman does business, it's entirely possible he has advised TNA at some point and completes the 5, he just never signed a formal deal to do so...

Guys like DDP only missed ECW, which to me isn't a "bad thing"... Is it more valuable to have worked for all 5 or just 4? Personally I'd rate those guys with 4 higher... if they missed ECW or TNA it meant they stayed at the "top" longer than those who had to stop by all 5 to do so... When the Steiners were in ECW it was a nothing promotion for example.

That's tough since that version of ECW was owned and operated by WWE, really just a separate TV show, like the difference between SmackDown & Raw.

Flair did make the rounds though between NWA/WCW, WCW, AWA, TNA, and World Class plus appearances in the UWF and Mid South through his affiliation with the NWA.

Don't forget Hulk Hogan also was AWA, WCW, WWE & TNA

Not to veer off-topic, but if you are naming the major companies of the last fifty years, shouldn't World Class be on the list? I would think they would be ahead of ECW, at least.

It was affiliated with the NWA, but a separate company. It was also associated with the AWA, but I don't see World Class as being part of the AWA.

All the NWA territories were technically "separate companies". When the term "NWA" is used it's meant as a blanket term covering it's separately owned members. It doesn't just mean JCP/Mid-Atlantic.

And the AWA had working agreements with a number of NWA territories.

I see your point and you are right. I guess it goes to perception. I don't think most people(or maybe I'm just projecting) think of WCCW guys as NWA guys.
Also, I'm reaching, trying to make this thread easier for me....most of the wrestling I watched was pre-'90 and I don't have a good handle on ECW or TNA rosters.

Ah! See, I predate Hulkamania so I was definitely "around" back then. Was well familiar with the Von Erichs and World Class courtesy of the Apter mags even though I never got to actually watch.

And don't feel bad, I didn't watch ECW either: I thought it was total crud. I'm not a fan of "hardcore" in any way shape or form.
