Wrestlemania XXX: Daniel Bryan VS Triple H

There's more intrigue to the match now, with Triple H throwing his name into the hat as a #1 contender, if he defeats Bryan. I can see two possibilities. Bryan picks up the win to move on to a triple threat, or a double pin scenario to create a fatal four way for the main event.

The #1 contender's match approach kills the predictability for Bryan as a clear cut favorite to win. Love him or hate him, Triple H is a bonafide legend, so you're wasting his true potential with stepping stone restrictions.

Also, I'm more convinced the Evolution reformation will happen, but it's better if they save it for the the post Wrestlemania Raw. If they're against each other now, I don't see the logic in Orton, Triple H, and Batista working together at Mania, and you don't need a 3 on 1 attack or plan to take out Bryan. If it's a fatal four way, Orton, Batista, and Triple H will stab each in the other to open the door for Bryan, and the same thing will happen in a triple threat with Orton and Batista.

With this new stipulation added, does anyone think there's a chance we'll see a fatal four way in the main event?

I just have this strange feeling that HHH vs Bryan will end in some screwjob finish that'll have to put HHH in the main event somehow. Whether it's a double countout that inserts both men into the main event or HHH loses to Bryan, but then beats Bryan to a pulp afterwards, claiming that since he's now uncleared to compete or taken to a hospital, HHH will take Bryan's spot. Then Bryan comes in halfway through the HHH vs Orton vs Batista match and makes it a fatal four way. Whether he wins is up in the air, but I'm willing to bet HHH wins the main event regardless of if he loses to Bryan or not because of those two possible post match scenarios.

I'm really unsure how long this match will go. I am assuming that Bryan will win, but you would expect the main event to go at minimum over 20 minutes, and Triple H tends to indulge himself with 30 minute matches at WM. But I can't see Bryan doing two half hour matches at two different parts of the show, even if his cardio is as good as it gets, it would be overkill to have any wrestler in two long matches on the same night.

Ruined the match may be an overstatement but I couldn't think of what else to put. When the match was Bryan v HHH and if Bryan won he would be in the title match I believed that the match could still go either way because it is difficult for WWE to ignore the Bryan chants and I thought they could let him beat HHH but then have him lose the title match. I also thought there was still a strong possibility that HHH's ego would kick in and he would make himself win the match using his role as head of creative to benefit himself. Now that the winner of the match and not just Bryan goes in my belief that HHH could win is almost non-existent which means this could be yet another match that is ruined by the predictability of the outcome. Predictability ruined the Rumble and Chamber and is likely now to ruin one of the biggest matches at Mania which should not be the case.

Likelihood of who wins

When Bryan is the only 1 who can get into the title match
75% Bryan - 25% HHH

When its a #1 contenders match
99% Bryan - 1% HHH

Conclusion - I think that putting a stipulation that could allow HHH into the title match has made the match predictable and less interesting.

Your thoughts on whether you feel the same or if it has improved the match

I might be mistaken, so sorry if I am, but if memory serves, you weren't all that interested in this match in the first place. If you want unpredictability in pro wrestling, you're not gonna find it all that much anymore. Besides, it's not unpredictability that's driving this feud whatsoever, it's the hope of a big payoff. Triple H has repeatedly "screwed" Daniel Bryan out of the WWE Championship since SummerSlam, we're now a few weeks away from the biggest show of the year, Bryan has the chance to get even with Triple H by defeating him in a match at said show and could walk out of WrestleMania XXX as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Given Daniel Bryan's popularity and the fact that a very healthy majority of fans seem to WANT him to have a big moment at WrestleMania, I can't see that this alteration has done anything to improve or further negate Triple H's chances of winning.

I don't think this stipulation has done anything to the outcome of the match. If anything, it is slightly more unpredictable than before (especially HHH might be playing the crowd into believing that he literally buries talent). For me, Bryan winning was almost a lock. Nothing has changed for me at least. If anything, there is a wee bit chance the match might end up being double pin etc, to make it a fatal four match.

And why predictability is bad? There's a story ongoing for over 8 months, and everyone's looking forward to its culmination at Mania. More the obstacles, more gratifying the end is (if, of course, it ends).

No matter what they did, they can't make this match any less predictable.
WWE won't ever have 3 heels in the main event competing for the title so it is obvious Bryan will win. But, by adding this "If HHH wins he becomes the #1 contender" stipulation the match has the possibility of becoming a fatal 4 way if the Triple H/Bryan match somehow ends in a draw or something.

Honestly, it's a fair criticism.

Breaking down who it affects;

Bryan- He's guaranteed to be in the title match, which was going to happen ANYWAYS, but there was the illusion of a 'FUCK YOU FANS' swerve. Now? Either he wins(and gets beat up for his troubles), or he loses and via some bullshit shenanigans gets put in the title match... or even becomes HHH's final challenger via some crazy decision inflicted by Stephanie or Hogan or Vince or whoever you want to be the Deux Ex Machinma. The drama has become very streamlined and basic... which admittedly I am for as I'm more about the story than the drama itself (drama leaves me seething LONG after I watch a show)

Orton- Best case scenario is he comes out of this losing cleanly to a DB pin, as the story SHOULD END, and was meant to end as soon as he cashed in the freaking briefcase at Summerslam. Maybe he loses the least out of everyone here, but it's not good that he's been effectively overshadowed as a paper champion ever since Batista won the freaking Rumble and HHH had a storyline marking him as a participant in Wrestlemania.

Batista- Good freaking god. The main reason I subscribe to the probably flimsy theory that Batista's role in the Rumble and afterwards was a deliberate swerve to grab X-Pac heat and keep the crowd alive is because WWE CAN'T BE THIS CARELESS. This is the biggest slam dunk in storytelling history for the WWE and they switch out the hero at the 11th Hour?! Then they brainlessly charge forward with a match that EVERYBODY knows will be shat on? What, they couldn't devise a way for Batista to save his dignity and remain a Babyface without having him dumped on in the Title Match- that they HAD to give him this sort of thing in the contract? But I'm digressing. Batista's just an afterthought now.

The added stip just means the Triple threat might become a Fatal 4 Way in my view. I think one issue with the way things were is that the real feud is Bryan vs Triple H, that is where all the heat is, so Triple H as a stepping stone as opposed to the endgame might be the reason they switch to the 4 way.

Maybe this match ends in a double count out as the brawl ends up being uncontrollable, Hogan comes out and says that both men will be added to the WWE title match, then do it elimination style and have it come down to Bryan vs Triple H..

This is probably gonna be rockin' like a motherfucker. Bryan can put on barnburners, and Triple H is Triple H. Couple that with the fever pitch of emotion this is sure to have, and you could have something special on your hands. I would open the show with this

I'm interested to see what they do with this angle on the last two Raw's leading into Mania, I feel like Bryan needs one strong, passionate promo to cover his journey up to this point and what it all means to him, not just the YES! Movement aspect.

Otherwise this is cooked and ready to serve, although more and more I feel like there will be no result and the main event will turn into a Fatal 4 Way.

Even though it is predictable it is still the way to go and what everyone wants to see. Anything thing other than Daniel Bryan beating HHH and then winning the title would be very disappointing. This has been brewing since Summerslam, and Bryan should get him moment on the grandest stage.

What about the possibility of the shield interfering and taking out triple h allowing daniel bryan to get the win? I could see hhh beating the crap out of daniel bryan and then the lights go out and daniel is on top of triple h.

ive got this gut feeling HHH vs Daniel Bryan will have a screwy finish where Bryan wins, and HHH will either insert himself into the Main Event making it a 4 way..but basically Evolution vs Daniel Bryan until they all start fighting each other lol

however, if Bryan goes over clean with HHH which just seems so unlikely lol, then i definately see a screwjob ending where he doesnt win the title but Batista does (yeah i know, thrilling.)

i could also see HHH beating Bryan with help from whoever, then letting the crowd sit on that for 30 minutes or so, until Vince sees Trips backstage and says you screwed the kid, and frankly the fans want him in the match YES YES YES, making it another scenario for a fatal 4 way

yeah like i said i just cant see Trips letting Bryan win clean then win the title later on

I like this match not only cause HHH has been my fav wrestler since I was a kid but cause u have db high flying tech fighting style and hhh power game but it's gonna end in a double dq and both will b in the main event against orton and Batista

HHH will win this match. The possibility of an Evolution main event would put interest back on Batista and Orton. Right now, everyone is thinking the winner of this match will be the main person in the title match. Yet, even though I've picked Trips to win this one, and he may win the title, he won't be leaving as the champ...

If Triple H beats Bryan, then fans will hijack not only the title match, but probably most of the rest of WrestleMania itself. I think this will be a very physical match and, as a result, this match might honestly be the one to kick off the main card so that there'll be a good amount of time for the winner to rest up before competing in the title match. If this doesn't kick off the show, I believe it'll still be on early in the card. IF I'm right about that and IF Bryan doesn't win, WWE's gonna be left with an extremely hostile crowd who'll crap all over the rest of the show. Fans have made it clear the past few months that they're not at all interested in seeing a title match comprised of rehashed feuds from 5+ years ago. I find it extremely difficult to believe that WWE management isn't aware of this, otherwise they would've stayed with the original plan of Orton vs. Batista.

When you consider how Trips has belittled Bryan from his looks, height, criticizing the "Yes Movement", "insulting" the fans, hyping his own career & accomplishments, the video presentation last night, etc.; it all looks set up to give Bryan the win. It's possible that Triple H could win, but fans would be royally pissed off and there's a very real possibility that it would be the one thing that kills Bryan's momentum. Even if Bryan doesn't fit the mold of a typical "top guy" in WWE, I don't see Vince simply throwing away money. Right now, Daniel Bryan is one of the top money makers on the roster and at the end of the day, I think that's what ultimately matters. If Vince wanted to kill Bryan's momentum, as I alluded to earlier, he could've kept the title match as it originally was. If he wanted to kill Bryan's push, he could've done it a long time ago by jobbing Bryan out left & right. The whole scenario, even from all the way back at SummerSlam, regarding Bryan chasing the title looks like it's setting up for the ideal payoff: overcoming the odds and walking out of WrestleMania XXX as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Fans have been wanting a big payoff for a long while and if it doesn't happen this Sunday, it's probably not going to happen

The way I'd like this to go down would be HHH beats DB. Then HHH wins the Triple Threat match. He starts taunting the crowd, celebrating, having a great time. Stephanie comes down. The crowd is going bat shit. Here comes a swerve, maybe VKM comes down. VKM hit HHH with a chair or a hammer. He says, DB gets another shot. Here comes DB, DB gets the pin.

No real need to overbook this match between Bryan vs Triple H. A very solid match with DB getting the win works very well considering how the story has been shaping up over the last few months. No one should be interfering in this match because everyone in Triple H's camp has the most confidence in The Game and aren't worried about him getting beat to someone they see as a "B+ Player." The end will probably comes as a total shock to the Authority and then at the triple threat match, run-ins will be more likely to happen since Triple H doesn't trust Orton or Batista to beat Bryan. Basic booking 101 in my eyes is the most effective way to end the Night of Daniel Bryan.

It'd make sense from a storyline point of view for them to have this match and then leap directly into the world title match. HHH doesn't want Bryan as champion, so why would he allow him a breather between matches.

this is what i WISH would happen

For some reason the match winds up being a fatal 4 way whether its from a double dq or whatever so here we go

HHH hits bryan with the pedigree and is about to pin him(orton/batista knocked out on the outside) then cult of personality hits. Punk strolls to the ring, HHH is hot as a pistol, Bryan gets up, Punk gets in the ring faces HHH, Bryan tries to come from behind with one of those jumping type punches but punk intercepts it catches him into a GTS gets out the ring 1,2,3 HHH wins

now it can go either 2 ways punk joins authority or punk doesn't but he's pissed off bc bryan stole his wrestlemania moment. now you have hhh as a mega heel champion and a great feud between punk/bryan that can seriously last until summerslam

This match I can see going on earlier in the show. The results determining who moves on to the World Heavyweight Championship match later on makes me believe it will go on early in the show. I think it will go on 2nd or so. The match itself should be rather good, as for who wins it? It really can go either way. Daniel Bryan pretty much has to get the win. It makes no sense for him not to. If Trips loses he can still insert himself into the main event turning it into a Fatal Fourway, he has the authority (no pun intended) to do so. He won't win this, I highly doubt that happens. Should be a good match though and it most likely is one of the first ones to take place.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Daniel Bryan will defeat Triple H.

According to a report sourced from F4WOnline.com, there's talk of possibly adding a last minute stipulation to this match. According to the report, it'll either be a submission match or no disqualification.

I was hoping that, after this past Monday, that it'd be announced that Triple H was so irate that he made the match no disqualification. I don't see it being made into a submission match because it gives Bryan too much of an edge whereas a no DQ is more in line with Triple H's strengths and plays into the "uphill" "underdog" aspect of the feud. Considering Bryan kicked the crap out of Triple H, including getting medieval with a kendo stick this past Monday, a no DQ match makes sense; it especially makes sense if the idea is to have someone at least try to interfere in the match.

Bryan surely wins this. I'm not sure there is going to be any massive twists involved. I hope this will a long match and is of high quality. These two are great wrestlers and it has potential to be a classic.

I can see Bryan winning and then Triple H beating the crap out of him after. Bryan has to go into the main-event as a complete underdog with no chance of winning.
