Wrestlemania 28: Team Laurinatis VS Team Long (12 Man Tag Match)

Which Team Comes Out On Top At Wrestlemania, Making Their GM Rule Both Shows?

  • Team John Laurinaitis

  • Team Teddy Long

I like the idea of a 4 vs 4 elimination match as it enables a number of mid card wrestlers to get onto the WM card, I would have the following teams:

Team Laurinaitis: ADR, Ziggler, Swagger, Miz, (Christian)

Team Long: Orton, Ezekiel Jackson, Kofi, Truth, (Mysterio)

I can see Team Long dominating with Orton, Kofi and Truth remaining against Swagger or ADR (3 v 1) only for Orton to suddenly RKO both his team members before leaving the ring. Allowing Team Laurinaitis to take the win. This would have a number of repercussions for several superstars:

1) Obviously Laurinaitis now runs both shows, however Long can complain about how he was cheated and demand a rematch one v one (Orton v ???) at the next ppv.

2) Orton becomes the number one heel of smackdown teaming up with Laurinaitis to win the title and go on a lengthy title reign.

3) Whoever wins the match for Team Laurinaitis can continue bragging about how they beat 3 men to win the match. When clearly he does no work. (That's why I think Swagger and ADR would be best to do this)

Thoughts??

This is a great way to get people on the card who would probably be left off without the match. I think Johnny's team is a given with Christian, Del Rio, Henry, and Otunga. Now this is where Teddy's team gets tricky. If they do indeed replace MITB with this match, then I can see them possibly adding a fifth or sixth man to each team. However, personally, I would leave MITB on the card and leave this match at 4vs4. Teddy's team would need star power so if they don't insert Orton into the World title feud then he is a given here. I can see Mysterio coming back. Santino would be here obviously and I can see them putting in Great Khali for the international appeal they always want.

team Johnny (Del Rio, Christian, Henry, Otunga) vs. team Teddy (Orton, Mysterio, Khali, Santino)

MITB (Miz, Ziggler, Rhodes, Swagger, Kofi, Kane, R-Truth, Ryder)

Of course, Shaq's plan at Mania can change all of this.

imo it would be cool if they had like an elimination tag match team johnny ace with otunga, henry, cristian, del rio, and through some other goon that would be beleiveble vs team long big zeke, i dont rlly know who else right now bu maybe bigshow if the thing with shaq gets scrapped, sin cara or 619 coming bk, i unno theres still time to decide who would be on which side, just think it would be a good idea aha that orr put teddy and johhny in a last man standing match ... last man standing gets to be perm gm of each show lmao

Team Teddy vs Team Johnny is an effective way to squeeze all the former main event talents into one match, assuming that the WWE doesn't go with the MITB ladder match at Wrestlemania. Not only does this match provide injured stars like Del Rio and Christian their Wrestlemania match, it also frees up the room for Orton and Mysterio to return and get their match at Wrestlemania without a need to get involved in a new feud and storyline.

It also provides the opportunity for Laurinaitis to take control of Smackdown and bring some fresh air and new life into the blue brand, and hopefully improve the ratings along the way. Long as the general manager of Smackdown has gotten stale and Smackdown does need a new general manager and whom a better candidate than John Laurinaitis?

This match is a win-win situation for me whether WWE decides to put the MITB ladder on the card or not

I was thinking along the lines of an 8 man tag.

David Otunga, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Christian
vs
Rey Mysterio, Santino Marella, Mick Foley, Ezekiel Jackson

What do you think? Seems pretty logical and reasonable, Foley could have his last match here.

Rumour is that this match would be an 8 or 10 man tag match, winner takes all. But I have to be honest and say a match like this at Mania is a joke! I have read a few rumours this would replace the MiTB match!

Y, Y, Y, Y, Y

This is at best a raw 3 hour special match or even a Bragging Right main event, but Wrestlemania it is not!

You know if it happened the heels are taking this one and I would rather Mike Adamale came back than Jonny "Clown Shoes" was WWE GM

I think we could wind up seeing a very large sized tag team match... possibly as much as 7 on 7. Sure, it's a bit bulky, but it's been pulled off before at past Bragging Rights events and Summerslam with Team WWE vs. the Nexus.

I'm thinking:
Rey Mysterio (assuming he returns in time), Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Santino, Booker T, the Great Khali and Mic Foley (yes, Foley who wants to be a part of Wrestlemania and who clearly hates Johnny Ace).

And their opponents... Christian, Del Rio, Mark Henry, David Otunga, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and the Miz possibly.

I think they will go with an 8-man tag team match.

For Johnny Ace (his other name is too hard to spell):

Christian (he has been supporting Ace from the time he became GM of RAW)
Alberto Del Rio (last night at EC, he ripped off Long)
Mark Henry (look above + he got suspended by Long)
David Otunga (he's Ace's bitch)

And for Teddy Long:

Rey Mysterio (something tells me he'll be at WM and he'll be in this match)
Kofi Kingston (he has nothing to do at WM)
Santino Marella (he is Long's assistant)
Drew McIntyre (I don't know. Maybe Teddy will give him another chance, he wins, thanks Teddy, turns face and joins his team).

So there you go. An 8-man tag team match

Team Ace (Christian, Del Rio, Henry and Otunga) vs Team Long (Rey, Kofi, Santino and Drew)

Are you serious bro???
How are you going to put a team of main event superstars who had a GREAT year in 2011 against a jobber, a losing streak superstar, and two mid carders?

Alberto Del Rio, Christian, and Mark Henry have risen to the top in 2011 and putting them against them would be terrible.

I do agree that a Tag match probably will happen and those three more than likely will be in it. But there is no chance in hell they face your Long team.

Id rather see a one on one match. Since this seems to be taking away the MITB match. Maybe Orton vs Alberto Del Rio?

Well it doesnt look like the MITB Ladder Match will happen and looks like a Laurinaitis vs Long match will happen for GM supremecy. Also gives a lot of guys something to do who aren't on the card.

Team Laurinaitis
David Otunga
Alberto Del Rio
Mark Henry
Christian
Jack Swagger
Dolph Ziggler
Drew McIntyre

So the dictators who run this forum dont kick my arse with another infraction I better explain my list, even though its fucking obvious. Otunga is his right hand man, Christian, Del Rio and Henry endorsed him at Elimination Chamber, Ziggler and Swagger have also endorsed him in the past and McIntyre has heat with Teddy Long.

Team Long
Santino Marella
Zack Ryder
Ezekial Jackson
R-Truth
Kofi Kingston
Mick Foley
Great Khali

Santino and Ryder have worked for Long before, Mick Foley si a good guy who hates Laurinaitis, R-Truth and Kofi are mid card faces with nothing to do, Jackson is big so adds muscle as does Great Khali.

I dont see Miz getting a match at Wrestlemania. If he odes it will be in this but they will play off the Raw angle with him moaning about it.

This is a match that wont be a show stealer but, it gets more superstars on the show that otherwise would have no spot on it. I personally dont want to see an elimination tag match, i would prefer a straight 6 man or 8 man tag match

My teams would be

Team Laurinaitis
Mark Henry
Christian
Del Rio
Otunga

Team Long
Santino
Rey Mysterio
Kofi
R truth

This is a solid middle of the card match, and wouldnt be a half bad match

I think this angle is fun, a change of pace and a dab of variety for the shows right now. I don't think they will overcrowd the match. My guess is the 4 who posed for the pic at the EC will be Ace's team, Teddy's will be Santino, Kofi, Truth and Rey; with Khali as a possible option if Rey doesn't make it, just to add a power counterweight to Henry.

I can see this match happening only if The Money in the Bank match is dropped. Both matches require alot of talent with Money in the Bank requiring 8 and if this match happens it'll likely feature Del Rio, Christian, Henry and Otunga. So that's two 8 man matches on one card, which seems hard to pull off. With that said, this match should be a fun match if it does happen. While I don't particularly care for Teddy Long, he seems to be doing a solid job as of late. There is no way John Laurinaitis doesn't win this shit. Teddy Long is fine and all, but John Laurinaitis just kills him in just about every category. Heel GM running both Raw and Smackdown would just be phenomenal. The faces on Smackdown could really use a heel authority figure to gain some solid reaction as well as some midcarders on Raw. Teddy Long running both brands wouldn't really do anything positive for me. So yeah, your winner, The Executive Vice-President of Talent Relations and the Permanent General Manager of both RAW and Smackdown, Mr. John Laurinaitis. You can clap if you’d like…

How are you going to put a team of main event superstars who had a GREAT year in 2011 against a jobber, a losing streak superstar, and two mid carders?

Quite simple, to make Team Laurinaitis look stronger, and to rejuvenate the momentum for 3 top heels who have been away for a while.

Team Teddy Long
Kofi, Big Show, Orton, Rey

Team John Laurinaitis
Cody, Henry, Swagger, Ziggler (or Otunga)

other then that there arent really any feuds going on right now besides Show and Cody and I dont want to see that 1 on 1 match or Shaq. So lets fit in some top talent into the cars somewhere.

I could be wrong, but the way Smackdown! ended leads me to believe maybe Kane and Orton may get involved in this. Orton will no doubt want to get at Kane but it seemed the way they cut backstage immediately to Johnny Ace and Mr. Otunga, that there's something other than Kane/Orton planned. They seemed "impressed" by Kane which leads me to believe they recruit Kane to head up their team at Wrestlemania vs. a Randy Orton captained Team Long.

If there is no MITB match, which at this point seems like a foregone conclusion, this match needs to be a Survivor Series-style elimination match. It would create more interest than a simple 8-man tag and would let more guys do their finishers.

I think this match would be a great chance for Miz to steal the show. He can be the last man standing and then claim for the next 5 or 6 months that he was the man that saved Raw (being the man responsible for Johnny becoming GM). His character needs something big to happen - especially since he's not going to be on the main card for anything else.

This email was posted on WWE.com officially confirming that there will be a 12-Man Tag Team Match at Wrestlemania, where the winning team's GM will officially run both Raw AND Smackdown. The GM's have been told they need to pick their teams in the next few weeks before Wrestlemania by the Board of Directors.

So where do we see it going? In my eyes, I see John Laurinaitis' team winning this one because Long is extrememly bland and boring. Johnny Ace reigning over both brands would be a lovely breath of fresh air in all honesty and he always seems to wanna give the people what they want.

As for team members, I can call Santino & Kofi on Long's side (possibly Zack Ryder) and Ziggler, Swagger & Otunga on Ace's team.

So who comes out with the win?

I think Team Johns team will win but im guessing he will have heels on his side and making 6 faces lose is gonna be kind undesirable especially at WM28 so im guessing heels outnumber face team and suddenly one of the heel members (Johns Team) turns face and saves Team Long and this feud then continues later on after mania where John will finally win.

This match has been on the cards for a few weeks now, but its nice to know how many participants will be on each team.

It is a good way of getting talent on the card I suppose. Christian, Del Rio and Henry all appeared with Laurinatis at Elimination Chamber. I think Otunga, Swagger and Ziggler will make up the numbers.

A bit harder to pick Teddy Longs team, but definately see Santino and Ryder in there as they are close to Teddy. Kofi and Truth will probably be added aswell. Maybe even Drew McIntrye as part of the ongoing storyline. Rey and Cara dont have anything planned as of yet either.

Well, looks like it's official. And it's about damn time too. The Board of Directors have been quite active when it comes to Long and Laurinatis. Anyway, I see Big Johnny's team getting the win here, allowing Long to have some time off or whatever it is they're gonna do with him. Then, something will happen and the Board will re-instate Teddy Long.

Onto the match, this will be very interesting indeed. It's gonna be a clusterfuck no doubt about it, but given enough time for this kind of stipulation, it should be entertaining.

Let me give my predictions on who's gonna be on what team.

Team Johnny: David Otunga, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, & Mark Henry.

Team Long: Santino, The Great Khali, Justin Gabriel, Ezekial Jackson, Rey Mysterio, and Alex Riley

I didn't mention Kofi or Truth cause they'll probably be challenging for the tag titles, and Ryder is most likely going to be involved in some mixed tag match with Eve, so I left him out too.

Officially i think this will probably be the blow off for the John Laurinatis as interim GM storyline. The thing is that Teddy Long as been doing this for a long time now and he's doing a lot of the house shows and other promotions for WWE that Laurinatis doesn't do. So unless Long is leaving WWE, i don'T see him losing this match.

Has for who will be involve in this match, i see JAck Swagger,Mark Henry, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio & David Otunga for team Laurinatis since they all have been part of this storyline in one way or another. Has for team Long, I see Kofi Kingston, R-truth, The Great Khali, Rey Mysterio, santino marella & The Miz. I don'T know why but i thinking that they might have The Miz turn Face at mania because Laurinatis didn'T want to give him a mania match and Long did that why i'm thinking That Miz will be part of TEddy Long team, as for the rest of them, it'S mostly a logic's thing since both Santino & Kofi have been seen with Teddy Long lately, R-truth is teaming with Kofi, Khali is just another big name getting put in there and mysterio could be a surprise entrant going into wrestlemania.

So seeing is this thread has devolved into who we'd like to see on either team, I may as well throw my hat in...

Team Ace: David Otunga, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.
(Swagger could be called up if Del Rio or Christian aren't fresh yet, but personally I'm fed up with him)

Team Playa: Santino Marella, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, Justin Gabriel, Booker T (yup) and the returning Rey Mysterio.

You've got big guys, small guys, powerhouses, spot monkeys, veterans, young talent. If this isn't rushed it could be a lot of fun, especially if made an elimination match - a festival of finishing moves.

I expect Big Johnny's team to pull out the win. According to the latest backstage rumors, the supposed participants for the match will be comprised of:

Team Laurinaitis - Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Mark Henry, Christian & David Otunga

Team Long - Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, The Great Khali, Ezekiel Jackson & Rey Mysterio or Evan Bourne

Evan Bourne's suspension ends this weekend, freeing him up to possibly work in this match. These are just rumored names and both GMs are going to be announcing their teams over the next few weeks. Mysterio popping up could be a nice surprise for fans, especially if they go into WM with the story being that Teddy has only had luck in getting 5 guys for his team. If it is Mysterio, then I'd say the match is 50/50 in terms of who'll win. If it's Bourne, I'd say it's a virtual lock for Big Johnny's team to pull out a win.

I'm still going with JL's team to win for the simple fact that Big Johnny's a much more over and generally interesting character right now. He gets crazy heat and he's the perfect sort of heel authority figure. Anybody babyface caught in his wrath will pretty much be guaranteed to get over with fans.

Does anyone find it funny that the Board of Director's resolution to decide who will be the GM of both shows via a match at WM?

I mean it makes it appear the WWE Board are composed of violent bloodthirsty Tribal Leaders settling disputes in a Gladiator's Pit. As opposed to Executives who takes into consideration the bottom lime, reaction from the audience, focus groups, profitability.

I mean I am not complaining but I just find this quite odd even for a scripted male Soap Opera like the WWE.

That said it looks like this is the beginning of the end of the Brand Split ... and I guess its about time. I was a supporting for the split Brands for a long time but it really made no sense anymore since both superstars can be in both brands and it seems like the WHC has been even less relevant than last year.

That said I think Long's team will win only because if Laurinatis looses this he still can play the role of the "Executive VP of Talent Relations". Where as if Laurinatis wins Long wont have a reason to be on TV anymore. Plus if the brands are to finally merge it would make sense that a Face GM would announce it.

WWE makes no sense sometimes why get rid of a match that you know is going to be good like money in the bank but instead they put together a shit match like this. I would have rather have them do something similar to the McMahon Donald Trump fued when they both picked one wrestler to represent them
