WrestleMania 19:3rd times a charm

BOSS Productions

Pre-Show Stalwart
WrestleMania 19 is my favorite WrestleMania of all time but I have recently watched The whole event all over again and noticed that the last 3 matches all have ended in the execution of 3 finishers.

Hulk Hogan VS McMahon Street Fight: 3 Leg drops ended the match.

The Rock VS Steve Austin:3 Rock Bottoms were executed not in a row but still the announcers kept mentioning it.

Brock Lesnar VS Kurt Angle WWE Title:3 F-5s and not it a row either but Cole mentioned it and I know it is because of the botched Star Press but it still counts.

Now personally I hate repetition in WWE especially at WM but this will still be my favorite Mania no matter what, now just realized this and well I just want to know did does it take away from the Mania itself especially since the commentary's have mentioned it in every match. Now you may think this is not a big deal well it is not but it just takes a little from the Mania because each of those matches were meant to be unique and were suppose to create a moment but the repetition takes way from each of those matches think about it. Hogan hit 3 leg drops to win the match, how is that different from Rock hitting 3 rock bottoms to win his match or how Lesnar hit 3 F-5s to end his match and seeing as how these were the last 3 matches on the card. Do you think the repetition takes away from the event or do you still like or hate this Mania the same.

WrestleMania XIX is my favorite WrestleMania too. I love this event. I never even thought about the finishes like that. The show was so good that it didn't matter. There are a few differences you might want to consider. Hogan didn't have to give Vince three leg drops to beat him. He just wanted to punish him. The Rock did need three rock bottoms to beat Austin. I think it added to the match because Rock won clean, but Austin looked strong in his last match. As you mentioned the F5 was not the planned finish for Lesnar vs. Angle. It only happened a third time and was the finish because of the botched shooting star press. Considering how Lesnar hurt himself during the planned finish I'm willing to overlook this. So although each winner used his finisher three times, it was done three different ways. It doesn't take anything away from the greatest WrestleMania of them all.

I never really noticed that before. Because of how it was done I really don't mind looking back on it. Depending on the situation I even like the idea of using a finisher three times or so to finish someone off at Wrestlemania. I mean, it is the grandest stage in professional wrestling. Whether you're the challenger or the champion you REALLY don't want to lose, so you'll literally push yourself as far as you can go, both physically and mentally.

As for multiple matches using multiple finishers? Well, again it's Wrestlemania. Depending on the quality of matches and how it's done it probably wouldn't take away from the match itself and may keep the fans on the edge of their seats.

My personal view has always been that a finisher move should always finish a match. I think that a match between two legends like The Rock and Stone Cold should have ended with the first man to hit his finisher winning the match. I think it would have been a more exciting match if everybody was waiting for The Rock to land the Rock Bottom or for Austin to land the Stone Cold Stunner to end the match.

I think that the WWE took away the power of the finisher in this time period. it seemed that in every big match it took multiple finishers to win a match. if you look at wrestlemania 12, it took only one sweet chin music to end the match and those guys wrestled for an hour.
